    Hi Peeps,

Congrats Bonty! I know what Jollymummy means, we were late starting our family, but if we had started sooner we would be up to 10 now!!!

Can I have a couple of bonus pleasures for yesterday?

    1. Wearing proper clothes instead of looking like Mr Staypuffed wearing the Micheline Mans Overcoat:eek:
    2. NSD even though I have not signed up to the challenge.

    Today

    1. Snow day. Everywhere pretty again.

    2. I locked myself out of the house on the way to collect DS2 from school. DH had to come home from work to rescue me. My knight in shining armour!

    3. Sledging with DH and DS2.

    4. Finding a pair of jeans half price in Matalan. (All my jeans have 'shrunk' since I started this job. We have a proper chef teaching food tech and he sells the makes to cover costs of ingredients for the kids who can't afford to pay. The only jeans that still fit are falling apart!}.

    5. Admiring DS2 airfix plane that he and DH have been making this week.

    Hiya Everyone

    Mine for today

1 Picking up my courtesy car after taking my car to the garage to have the dents taken out (someone drove into my car a few weeks ago - luckily they left a note). Its a new vauxhall, very posh and very easy to drive!

2 Making cinnamon and raisen bread (thanks again sallypurple), although next time i wont put in banana as i think that has made it a bit stodgy but still very nice!

3 Lots of compliments on my crochet animals and people requesting them.

4 Mentioning to someone that i was thinking of making a mini sock monkey into a keyring and being asked to make one for her! Think i am going to be very busy for the next few months!!! :D

5 An evening of sewing and watching a film with dh wrapped in blankets!

Thats all for today. Had some bad news earlier that my dad has had a heart attack although not a bad one and he has not been admitted into hospital. But i cant phone to find out how he is as he doesnt want me to know so i have to wait until mum can phone me when dad isnt there so a bit of a worrying time! But thankful that he cant be too bad as he still managed a short walk with the dogs and is still at home!

    Night night
  • Here are mine for the last day or two:

    1) Spending a nice evening with DH watching Lost under a blanket with candles lit.
    2) Wanting to drink fizzy cola but not letting myself - every day I go without is wonderful. :)
    3) Doing a spot of sewing at lunchtime. The new project is coming along nicely.
    4) A nice warm cardigan. Nothing like one!
    5) Talking to another friend about giving her some cooking lessons. It feels like a mini WI is taking shape. Weird :)

Hope everyone is ok. Take care and keep warm (((hugs)))

Am still awake, feeling poorly again and was struggling to get in the mood to write something here... then I remembered the thread
O/S disasters.... let us share... in OS Money Saving, so here's my five:

    1. 'O/S disasters' is loads of pleasures all in one but if you haven't read it already make sure you read it somewhere that isn't a library or your workplace :D The story about the builders and the foam is my favourite of all time.

    2. DS1 made supper: a meal for tonight and one for the freezer (without being asked).

    3. Heard that next-door's baby was born safely yesterday. We barely know them but it's really good to hear about the safe arrival of another little one (and that the mum got to hospital in time in the snowy conditions).

    4. Having a good cry because I was feeling so off-colour and sorry for myself. I know that it sounds silly but when you need a cry and give into it it can feel like a pleasure when you are out the other side.

    5. Reading back over some of my creative writing and realising that it stands the test of time. Stuff still reads really well.

    Sweet dreams

Hello everyone. Sorry there seems to be so many of you poorly -hope you're feeling better soon. THere does seem to be some weird sort of bug around, I've beeen feeling rubbish since New Year, but thankfully the last two days have been better.

Thanks also to Ollie who always says something nice and thoughtful about our posts -it makes us feel special.

Well nothing too exciting on the OS 'blessings' front but here goes,

    1) DM is a little more stable at the moment, so making the most of it and not looking too far forward.

    2) Tidying up my paperwork and filing it away -a bit more decluttering.

    3) Feeling a bit more lively after several very unlively days.

    4) Looking forward to visiting and having tea with DMiL tonight and also to visiting DM.

    5) The dog has been cleared of having Kidney Stones -so no more expensive Prescription Diet for the time being but:-

Currently I am feeling rather annoyed with myself for not submitting an insurance claim for the dog quickly enough which may lose me around £30. Not the end of the world I know, but frustrating. Have had just too much on my mind recently.

    Have a lovely day everyone!

    My five for yesterday:

    1. Delicious Thai curry at a new restaurant yesterday, with friends.

    2. Getting more good reviews for my latest short story.

    3. Managing to write some more on my current short story, even though it was a busy day.

    4. Good session at the gym.

    5. Arranging lunch at the weekend with the same friends I had the curry with.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

    Hi all,
here's mine for the last few days:

    1. Having OH to myself for more than usual (the first weekend without the step kids in over 18 months - other than when I was in hospital).

    2. Sainsbugs delivering my food even though the road was still fairly white.

    3. Getting out my "Dough" book and making focaccia... and OH asking if I was sure I made it as it tasted good ;)

    4. Going for a walk in the snow to buy more yeast and bread flour to make a sun dried tomato focaccia topped with cheese - and it tasting really good :D byebye diet ;):p

    5. Spending 9 hours making french onion soup in the slow cooker (with virtually hourly stirs and additions) and it tasting quite nice, thankfully! The fact that it was on also meant I could use an upturned bowl on the lid to support my bread dough and encourage it to rise without putting the heating on ;)

    6. Seeing hoppy birdy marks in the snow where I threw the nuts/oats and so finding some more unlikely to be eaten food to contribute to the birds.

    7. Reading this thread. I love how others find pleasure in the smallest of things - reminds me of all the good bits in my life ;)

Hi everyone, my 5 for today are.

    1. Great fun today at girlie lunch, everyone was in great form, and glad to be out and about after the snow. Was cold but our mulled wine and baileys coffee warmed us up.:j

    2. Kitchen is sitting so clean that it looks like it belongs to someone else. Took 2 hours yesterday to clean.:D

    3. Just got old black and white Miss Marples from find-dvd. So looking forward to early night tonight. Margaret Rutherford made a great miss M.Remember watching these with my Gran.

    4. Going to market in Belfast tomorrow to buy vegetables, plan a big soup making event over the weekend. Celery, potato, broc, butternut, etc.:money:

    5. Have promised myself to try and get out to the theatre more often this year, so will check tonight and plan what i'm going to see over the next few months.

Have a great os evening,:A hugs to all the who need them, esp the poorly peeps. Hope all the snow clears soon. Love BTx
  • Well, what an odd week! Our condensed pleasures are

    1) One Musketeer, whose husband has just been made redundant, rang to say that he already has another job. Although it's at the other end of the country, and I am very sad about that, I think it will suit him much better than anything on offer around here. Her auntie and uncle live four miles away from where her DH is to work so it all looks very good.
    2) Bumped the car on Monday - black ice at 5 mph - so no-one was hurt. The man was really nice about it and I have handed it over to the insurance company without another thought. It's so much easier to deal with them these days.
    3) Work was shut on Wednesday. I nearly got there but then someone rang to say the police had closed the roads round there and we were all to turn back. Didn't mind the epic journey as I could then spend the rest of the day reading under a blanket.
    4) Reading the Twilight series. It's all very breathless but I'm enjoying it. I pinched them from DD. We are planning a trip with the above Musketeer next week to see New Moon.
    5) Bargains in the charity shops today - a glass paraffin lamp for £3.99 (I always wanted one, they're so pretty), a black jacket to go with my new trousers for £8 and a James Herriot book that someone can give me for my birthday.
    6) The smell of cakes wafting up the stairs as I type. DD is making cupcakes for a friend and I can hear our neighbour, DS and his friend practising my favourite hymn (Oh the Deep Deep Love of Jesus) in the room underneath. Bliss

Keep warm and keep safe. I do enjoy reading everyone's blessings, however mundane they seem. Keep posting!
