Hello all:hello:
Well my no 1 is...
1. How lovely it is to be back 'in here' after an absence. You are all so lovely and it's good to read what you've been up to and what is giving you pleasure in your day.
2We've moved north of the border, something that I've wanted to do for such a long time. This happened just before Christmas but due to English and Scottish house buying laws being a bit different, we don't move in to our new place until Feb.....which brings me to...
2. My lovely DD and her BF who are putting up with us (and our 2 dogs) in their flat. They really have opened up their home to us and we are so grateful. I've been staying here mostly since Sept when I went back to uni, going back down south to help DH pack up the house.
3. DH meeting me for soup and coffee at lunchtime today. It was so lovely to take him to one of my old haunts, where I've been going when I was so many miles away from him lately. How lovely to share some soup, home made with care by some lovely ladies.
4. A lovely walk with our dogs this evening. Our oldest one will be 11 soon and always greets everyone with such a waggy tail.
5. Finally, a lovely cup of cocoa just now and DH is downloading Coast in iplayer.
Have a good evening folks, and sleep well tonight
W x0 -
1. Neighbour took DD to school again - I picked her up from childminder's this evening in the car and realise that the pavements are still scarily slippery, so I may have to ask for the favour to continue until this nasty weather clears up.
2. Went out to Mr T's at lunchtime to get essential stocks, spent a bit more than anticipated but it could have been a lot worse.
3. Going out for the first time in a week, I had serious cabin fever. Okay, so it was only to Mr T's but it was out!
4. DD read all her school book without any help tonight and had fabulous intonation, "No, pup NO" in a very stern voice, complete with wagging fingerShe's getting very excited as I've promised her that she can sleep in my bed on Friday night, as she's being such a good girl this week
5. Managing to get out to the post office to post off a book I sold on Amaz*n last week, hoorah!
6. Enjoying Survivors, I'd forgotten how good it was and didn't realise there was a new series coming, an unexpected delight
7. I kept the heating off during the day again today whilst I was working
8. DD wrote me a lovely letter at school today, asking if I would come to her birthday party (not until March but hey, I might be busy) I love my little sweetie to bits
Right, I need to make a bib for a baby doll as I inadvertently hoovered it up last night, DD and I did open up the hoover and poke about in the dust for it, but couldn't find it, so I have to attempt to make one - eeek!0 -
Evening all
Slushy, freezing, wet and miserable outside but nevertheless there has been some good points. Mine for today are
1 Felt slightly better when I got up today as I must admit I have felt very "off it" for about a week now. Nothing drastic but certainly under the weather!
2 Busy day at work and tackled a work problem that I have been worrying about and loosing sleep over. Think I now know how to solve this or at least certainly know which way to work towards with it. Such a relief!
3 Had a good time at my knitting class tonight - it was the first one and was fairly basic but it was nice meeting new people and all chatting and laughing together.
4 Being told that I was doing very well - a little encouragement goes a long way!
5 Gave one lady a lift home as she was going to walk home on her own in the dark and icy weather:eek: Turns out she lived practically opposite my DD1 and BF and when I told her where they lived she said she knew who they were " the lovely friendly young couple with the German Shepherd dog" (he is a dog handler) Made me feel very proud of them!
and 6 Coming in to Hubbie, who despite being really tired, showed an interest in what I had been learning and gave me a huge cuddle for leaving him his tea ready before I went out. Didn't take much doing as was only a jacket potato and chicken curry, but he said that he had been frozen when he got in and it really warmed him up. Nice for him to appreciate it and not just take it for granted.
Right off to practice - I have home work to do you know!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
x"Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to........"Dieting ........... is no piece of cake!!!!:D
Weight loss since January 2011 - 5st 5 lbs!!!!!0 -
1) Reading this thread and posting for the first time in one of these threads
2) Had a lovely 'Lush' shower
3) Work was good today
4) I spoke to my best friend on the phone and helped her to make the decision that is right for her and her cat that has a cancerous tumour.
5) Watching 'nurse jackie' with a brew and a 2 finger kitkat.0 -
Evening all,
Would also like to say that Ollies posts are lovely and welcoming.
My 5 for today are:
1. Leaving for work early so I could walk. The bus fare has gone up by 20p so really object to paying it if I can walk
2. Going for a walk in my lunch break to get some fresh air
3. Lovely chilli wraps for dinner
4. Made some Chicken and Veg soup for OH to take for lunch tomorrow as he has been feeling cold at work today.
5. Sewing DD's guide badges onto her sash. I am not great at sewing so his is a bit of a torture for me but the pleasure is in that I have done them now.
Safe safe everyone whilst its still icy out there0 -
Evening all,
Ooh its getting late, Bedfordshire beckons.
1. Have chilli tonight, done lots of prep beforehand and loved one says that was a nice surprise! Ahh. Half of it now in the freezer for easy meal another day. Also got to use 2 mini casserole dishes with lids and used these to serve (lazy eh).
2. Feel fortunate that I have so many toiletries to use up, I remember a time when I used to look longingly at products and could only buy something occasionally. When I've got on top of my "stash" I can return to sensible buying.
3. A sneaky "Lucky Irishman" irish coffee made for work (it was very watered down with lots of single cream). It was lovely.
4. Seeing green grass. Winter scenes are lovely but great to see nature again.
5. MummyOllie!Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!" Less things. Less stuff. More life.Fab thread: Long daily walks

Evening all... not usually up this late but just got in from the date...
Mummyollie - he was nice... he is about to go on holiday for a week. I might catch up with him when he gets back but I am not too bothered either way.
1) Thinking of a really intelligent question to ask at the seminar/ meeting that I attended this morning. I usually sit at these things thinking that I have comepletely missed the point and have nothing to say. In fact I asked two questions in front of everyone (including industry experts) and didn't embarress myself
2) Managed to make small talk with a few people that I have not met before. People often comment that I come across as super confident but as with most people I can be extremely shy
3) Had a really productive afternoon in our London office
4) Had a really pleasant evening with my date... pity there was no spark
5) did not have to wait for a train at St Pancras this evening... I got to the station with two minutes to spare. It was absolutely freezing!!
Night night all.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
MummyOllie...yup, I like that
I like your description of your date Ladyhawk, 'nice' was a polite word our English teacher said was used when we didn't know how to describe something we felt indifferent to. It comes in very useful at times
When I read your opening lines mineallmine I thought at first you were planning to join Ladyhawk and me down here in the Home Counties,
My 5...
1. Like some others, being pleased to see the garden again, even if the snow and ice has wreaked havoc with the lawn and hanging baskets. They'll soon recover though..
2. Winning another £12 on the bingo game (but haven't got a clue how to withdraw it without losing the bonus they give to play with. Even though I followed the advice on the othe forum it isn't working for me so guess I'll just leave it there til the 30-day free play is over then take it all at the end )
3. Finding a box of ornaments etc in the loft, none of which I have any use for and I'd forgotten about anyway, so they've joined the rest of the car-boot stash
4. Settling down with a cuppa and a choccie bicky (oh okay, 2 bickies) to watch Buds of May which I'd recorded...perfick
5. Thinking of my family and friends, and being so grateful for them. Nothing else is as important as the people in our lives, I'm truly blessed with my children, grandchildren and dear friends.
On that soppy note I wish you all a good night, sweet dreams and stay safe
