    Hi all

Reverbe great to see you posting again!

Ollie, thanks for hugs - much better today - down feelings come and go, must be hormonal perhaps.

Before starting today's pleasures I want to add one more from yesterday:

Sunday: DD and her BF (him leading, in fact) cooked us a lovely dinner, all vegan and all delicious, starter was tomato pesto (a fav concoction of dried tomatoes, garlic, herbs and spices to spread on toasted bread), then roasted courgette soup, then pudding was the best banana cake I have ever eaten - had three slices and it cured me of all ills - miracle!

Ok here are mine for today:

1 - Woke up to a lovely cup of tea courtesy of DH, who brought it to me just before going to work.

2 - Even if still feeling a bit off colour I managed to get to the aerobics class - only managed just over half hour but better than nothing! And it got me out of bed instead of moping and whinging myself back into a down mood.

3 - Remembered to buy toilet rolls so we do not have to resort to cut up newspaper today!

4 - Prepared lunch together with DD (my new boss came today to meet me and see hte office for the first time and I gave her lunch).

5 - Just spoken with DH and he is coming home for 6pm so we have the time to have a bit of dinner and then go to the dance classes.

Have a lovely evening everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

sallypurple - can you point me in the direction of the receipe for the hot cross bun loaf please?
    .
Sorry hun, I just sort of guessed! I used my BM's bake rapid setting for a medium white loaf and bunged in 2 tsps of cinammon, 2 tsps nutmeg and 4 oz of sultanas.

It tasted yummy but I would use more sultanas next time :D

Funny enough i was thinking of adding cinammon and raisens to a normal loaf but was a bit iffy about how it would turn out. Thanks for that, i will give it a go!! :D
  • Not been on OS properly for ages but have been looking for ideas etc recently.

Couldn't get out of our villiages this morning. Car got stuck going up a hill so had to turn back and requested a day's holiday from work instead ;)

My day was great, I always used to hate being on my own but today was great.

    1. Put Duck carcass and giblets from yesterday's roast in SC to use for a broth for a chinese style soup for tea tonight
    2. Made some cheese scones to use up the full fat cheese in my fridge - my main weakness is cheese so cutting back to the LF versions (just need to gobble up the scones first!)
    3. Made a chocolate orange loaf cake to use up the chocolate orange in the fridge and stop me from scoffing the lot (not the best idea as I think I may be allergic to chocolate )
    4. Made some HM bread rolls to use for work tomorrow - no idea yet what to have on them but i'm sure i'll find something
    5. Made sure the birds are stocked up in the garden with seeds and cheap digestives which they seem to love!

Dh bought me a ipod dock and DAB radio for the kitchen for Christmas so had a great afternoon singing away and laughing at Fern Brittain standing in for Jeremey Vine on Radio 2 - in particular the discussion on panic buying - all the more tittering after reading some threads on here earlier in the day.
It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice

Hi, not getting round to posting again, must try harder. I feel my posts are all a bit 'samey' as there is not a lot of variety in my life. For what it's worth here are today's pleasures:-

    1. Still enjoying hunkering down as there was more snow overnight and the footpaths are a bit of a hazard area for one who can trip over fresh air.

    2. So glad that my freezers and pantry are loaded with food.

    3. Making a panful of cream of cabbage soup. It has no cream in it and no stock either but is surprisingly tasty and very nourishing.

    4. Having an afternoon card making with some of my new crafting goodies.

    5. Settling down for a knitting evening - when I get off here that is.

    Bella.

    Evening all,

    1) My boss was back from hols - and she didn't moan at me much except when I mentioned that I had discussed some work I need to do with our director... she doesn't like me talking to him

    2) Cupcakes... I make some over the weekend with pink icing and had a couple for tea

    3) Getting my work emails down to 18 in my inbox - totally unheard of. Sadly all 18 require a shedload of work :( My todo list is under two pages long which is also great!

    4) Listening to Just a minute on Radio 4 on the way home from work which always makes me chortle.

    5) I am going to have a lovely bath this evening to ease my sore tummy and back, and so that I don't have to shower in the morning (I have to be up at silly o'clock for a 9am meeting in London).

    6) I have a first date tomorrow night! Hopefully it will be a pleasure... though I am not so sure...

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
  • Evening, :hello:

    Mine for today are:
    1) Having a bit of a lie in with the dog on the bed to keep me warm :cheesy:

    2) Heating the kettle to top up the bath as there was about enough hot water to fill it 1/4 way up and still enjoying actually being able to have a bath (i only have a shower in uni and REALLY miss baths!)

    3) Keeping the heating off all day as no one else was in and just revising in the living room with the fire on every now and then to keep the edge off

    4) Going for a lovely (albiet slightly terrifying at times) long walk with the dog as a break from revision

    5) Mums homecooked food - rubber turkey! (If I'm allowed to steal that phrase from rubber chicken? :o )
    Proud to be OS :j

    Hi All,

Must think of five pleasures to counteract the frustrating evening I'm having!!!! Just driven all the way to the cinema to see Up In The Air (George Clooney) with SeeFilmFirst freebie tickets. Jobsworth wouldn't let DD and DS1 in because they didn't have ID. Grrrrrr  I know she is right, but we had made the effort in grim weather conditions. I was tempted to go in by myself, as it was George, but that wouldn't have been very nice to the kids!!!!!

    1. Back to school tomorrow! :jMissing my class, they are lovely. (Also, worry that some of them will get into trouble if they don't have school:eek:).
    2. Pleased I got some more work done before tomorrow.

    3. Got some more Xmas cards for 10p each, so i think I have got all the relatives cards for next Xmas now. Hooray!

    4. Looking forward to a shower and early night in prep for early start tomorrow. (Hope to finish my book).

    5. Trip to cinema was not in vain, as we stopped off at Costco and bought some dog food. (I need a wagging tail smiley here).

PurpleSally-I love the signature. I would have 19 pages of ideas too!:rotfl:

    Hi everyone!

    Mine for today include:

    1. A short day at work - always good! Plus I got shot of something on my to-do list that had been bugging me. :j

    2. Delicious tofu and mushroom loaf for tea, with mash and heaps of veg.

    3. Needing to phone the chap who has rehomed my foster kitties, and hearing that they're settling in well. Bless! (wipes away a tear...) :happyhear

    4. Getting on with jotting down ideas for future short stories. :T

    5. Receiving my replacement pressure cooker from Lakeland. To think that I ummed and ahhed before getting one, now I wouldn't be without it. Simply brilliant at cooking pulses. And three cheers for Lakeland's great customer service!
