    Hi all

Not posted yesterday as it was quite a challenging day, had an argument with DH and also felt quite down in the dumps (perhaps that's why I had the argument in the first place, low tolerance to male silliness when I feel down!).

Here are my five for yesterday:

1 - Made peace with DH eventually instead of bickering for the rest of the weekend (which sometimes happens).

2 - Managed to go for a walk even if it was cold and sleety, that was thanks to DH who persuaded me that it would be good for me.

3 - Popped into M&S and got mushrooms for the dinner sauce for polenta.

4 - Quiet evening in with DH, as DS is in Italy and DD at her BF

5 - We watched PS I Love You DVD, a right weepy but it was great too, I had loved the book and liked the film (and Gerald Butler!) very much too!

    Here are five for today:

1 - Woke up feeling re-energised by a good, uninterrupted night sleep.

2 - Visited a friend with DH and brought her her Christmas present that I hadn't managed to give her during the Christmas holidays.

3 - Her DS who had been quite unwell mentally is now showing very good signs of getting better.

4 - DH and I walked to the Farmers Market across Blackheath, in the snow.

5 - We saw some incredibly skilled co-ordinated kite flying, five kites flying in patterns, they were syncronised, very very beautiful to see, these colourful kites with the background of grey sky and snow on the ground. Amazing.

Have a good rest of the day everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Afternoon everyone,

    mone for today are -

    1) have cupcakes with pink icing for brekkie this morning at my youngest brother's flat (I made the cupcakes)

    2) Helping my mum try to claim compensation for their cancelled flight - though BA are accepting no responsiblity (they ran out of de-icing fluid which is why the flight couldn't take off on Wednesday ).

    3) Going to the pub with my parents, my brothers, my SIL and her parents and my future SIL made even better by my middle brother paying for all of us!! The food wasn't great but it was nice to be altogether. My family is not close at all so it is lovely when they all make the effort. I dropped the parents off at Heathrow this afternoon - I hope their flight isn't cancelled again!

    4) Toupe is much better and was up to greet me when I came home this afternoon and has been following me around ever since.

    5) In bed with a hot water bottle, and not having to think about supper after the enormous lunch. Why do they give such big portions? It is such a waste.

    Have a great week everyone

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
  • Hi all, first time posting here but I've been hanging around the OS daily thread and the HM xmas one and I'm recognising some of you so I thought I'd come and say hi here as well :D

    My 5 today -

    1) Having a lovely walk 9in the snow which me and tiny puppy enjoyed even if noone else did :D
    2) Making HM bird food with littlest dd and putting it out for the birds
    3) Snuggling on the sofa with my dd's and the puppy to watch scooby doo on the tv
4)Watching the scarf I'm knitting for my friend's birthday growing so quickly
    5) Useing my slow cooker again for the first time in ages.

Thats all for today - I'm still doing 3 and 4 at the moment so I'm going to enjoy the rest of my day, thank you for helping me to appreciate these simple pleasures:T

Do you knit/crochet, Reverbe? These sites have wrist warmers and they're quite easy to make.

Sadly Ollie for the past year I have been trying to teach myself with the aid of books, online sites etc.. just doesnt work...:cry: Thanks all the same tho. Great links and they might help or inspire someone here.

have to say am impressed that someone's pleasures include a local person/neighbour helping to clear snow and ice. Every day several times a day I say to myself and also to flatmate wish I had a shovel (no need/room for one in a flat) so I could go out and clear local pavements etc for something to do and to help ppl out.

    Evening all,

    1. A lie in until 10am, "lazy mare" is very fitting!
    2. Had egg on toast for lunch. Nice n simple and leaves room for the roast this evening (which wont cook itself with me on here!).
    3. Sorting out more clutter today. Some bits harder than others. Our dearly departed doggie's old dog coats will go to a dog shelter. Hard even holding that stuff but so good to know it will be welcomed and used somewhere else.
    4. Using up this Irish Coffee stuff called "Lucky Irishman". It's syrupy and you add hot water and cream. It's getting to be quite a habit. In fact I may just go and boil the kettle and....
    5. Seeing a post from Reverbe. Hope ampersand is ok and havent heard from our kiwi friend for a bit.

    Keep warm everyone.
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

    Hello everyone :hello:

    Mine for today are:

    1. Huge and delicious lunch in the pub with a friend, at a very reasonable price.

    2. Delicious smelling spicy lentil soup in the slow cooker as I type, for tea. Edit - just had a big bowlful, with a homemade roll - wow! That really was yummy - thick, delicious and warming.

    3. Making a big batch of homemade yoghurt.

    4. Only needing to spend £10 for petrol for the week, due to staying home because of the snow.

    5. Seeing Reverbe post again. You're missed when we don't see you on here!

Extra one added - how sad is this? getting an extra star and becoming a "Serious Money Saving Fan" rather than a "Money Saving Stalwart"!!
Life is not a dress rehearsal.
  • Hi everyone
    Mine are .-
    1. My Mum is over for a few days as I've actually got some work at our local college !!
    2. Food delivery came from Mr T- thankfully, the store rang us as my credit card wouldn't go through, so after juggling funds we sorted it - blimey we're going to have to economise this year !!
    3. Made carrot and coriander soup.
    4. DS told me my head had black on, so dyed my hair and roots - cheeky :)
    5. Had a lovely lazy weekend
    Take care
