Here's my five pleasures for Tuesday:

    1. Feeling quite a lot better having stayed in bed until mid-day

    2. Popping in to see my sister to deliver some bits and pieces we were passing on to her - hadn't seen her since before Christmas. Got a quick cuppa too - very welcome.

    3. Actually getting out to sports club tonight - feel quite pleased with myself for having managed a 25 mile round trip on icy roads and coping with snowy car parks!

    4. Giving a young man a lift back to his digs after the sports session. He's a friend of DS1 and from Serbia. It was really interesting to hear his reaction after his arrival back here after the Christmas holidays. Landing in the snowy UK from a warmer Serbia took him by surprise. :D

    5. DS2 giving me a really brilliant money earning idea this evening.

    Sleep well

Morning everyone, my 5 for today are.:j

    1. Baking for now and the freezer. Twinks hobnobs, scones, german biscuits, Ollie's lemon drizz cake and venniose fingers. We seem to be eating alot of HB at the mo.

    2. Big clean of the kitchen, you know the one, everything off worktops etc. Hate this so timer will be set for 10 min bursts.:D

    3. After 10 years of my x:mad:, i have decided that i have been too nice for too long, and am now not speaking or seeing him. Feel really good about this decision, it's been along time coming. Son now old enough to make his own arrangments with him.

    4. Hoping for a nsd today.

    5. Girlie pack lunch in park tomorrow after our walk, hot soup, xmas cake and cheese on the menu. Followed by mulled wine. We try to get together every month, sometimes we are 2 and other times 15. I think we are 7 tomorrow.:money:

Have a great os day, big fat hugs to all who need them, nice to read so many posts:A. Love BTx

Haven't had chance to post on here for ages as OH has been snowed in and has complete control of the computer!

My 5 or so for the last couple of days:

1 Getting a huge hug from DS2 when I picked him up from school yesterday; that really made my day, I'd really missed them both
2 After taking 1 3/4 hours to walk home in the snow after picking them up, neither child had complained once - I was SO proud of them.

3 Making a huge lasagne in my wonderful slow cooker and being told by DS1 that my lasagnes were the best in the world (it was particularly scrummy!)

4 Being congratulated on being pregnant again (when I thought everyone was going to tell me I'm mad!!) and told that it was 'great news' as I'm 'such a lovely Mum!)

5 Just having loads and loads of time with the children at home, pottering about, playing and snuggling up!!

Forgot to post last night so a couple from yesterday while I think of them...

Buying a couple of very cheap bowls of bulbs in anticipation of the scent of hyacinths in my home. Takes me back to my childhood, although of course we'd have planted them and left them on the cellar steps to bring them on in those days rather than buy them!

Also finding a rather contemporary tablelamp and shade half price, so that's our Christmas 'house' money allocated. It looks very smart in our newly tidy lounge!

Cleaning the kitchen worktops and discovering a sample sachet of posh coffee among all the correspondence and vouchers. I'd got none left and was going 'cold turkey' until I find a jar of decaf under £1.30, so this was a real joy!

More bird-watching - and laughing out loud at myself when I realised the parakeet or budgie I thought I'd spotted was actually only the underside of a leaf catching the light!

    Stay safe everyone :-)

    :snow_laug Snows Back! :snow_laug

    Yesterday

(I have tried to post this twice, but lost it both times when laptop hibernated and the internet connection got interrupted! )

    1. Back to school. Lovely to see everyone. Only half the pupils turned up, so nice quiet day and it was nice to hear their stories about their exploits in the snow.

    2. Some nice comments from the staff about how well Maths is going.... Hope I can keep up the momentum! (I'm a very new teacher and not very confident).

    3. DS2 laughing at my jokes.

    4. Having a little look at my Martha Stewart Living mag before finishing my book. (This is a bit of a luxury, but the magazine is 20% off in Costco! and I am a bit of a Martha Stewart groupie!).

    5. Reaching the bottom of one of the laundry baskets:j

Snow day again today, so back to the admin:sad:

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Being able to leave work early as I was at a client's 5 minutes from my house.

    2. Delicious homemade chilli.

    3. Getting lots of great reviews for my latest short story.

    4. Seeing some of my favourite clients at work, which helps me deal with a job I dislike.

    5. Getting lots of responses from a new dating site that I've joined.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

At home again thanks to snow!
Had a busy beginning to the week as it was my birthday on monday but things have settled a bit now!

    1. Yesterday I made a huge pan of veggie soup - a portion of which I had for lunch today.

    2. Have done all the washing - yay!

    3. Had a lovely chat with a man up the road who I have only spoken to since we had snow but as I don't really know anyone round here it's nice to be recognised and chatted to.

    4. Have been catching up on my part time uni study and it feels good to get those academic juices flowing again!

    5. Looking forward to seeing OH this evening, we seem to be having a particularly good patch at the moment...long may it continue as it makes me very happy!

Enjoy your day and please all drive safely on these horrid roads if you have to go out!

  • Hi all
Bonty - congratulations !! I'm from a family of 3 and although we didn't have much money we had a lot of love and laughter. If fate hadn't have had other ideas for me I would have had a football team : instead we have our little dream team :) Your children sound lovely.
I'm early today. Here's mine for today.
    1. Felt proud of myself as I had to drive to work this morning and a few blokes on my street said it was too icy and they'd turned back, I took it steady and managed ok - girlpower :)
    2. Glad to get my exam invigilation duties out of the way, my house is my little cosy coccoon and the thought of coming home is the only thing that got me out of bed at 7am.
    3. DH does the walk to school and back today as he works from home - yay !!
    4. When I walked home with DS yesterday it was horrid(snow, ice, wind) and he said isn't this a fun adventure Mummy, do you think we'll see some penguins cos we're in the North Pole!!
    5. Asked on Freecycle for a slow cooker as we are making lots of casseroles etc, a lovely lady has just offered me one yay !!
    6. After worrying about our finances for ages, I've just completed the budget planner on MSE and feel much more in control now I definitely KNOW what 's going in and out. We are on a very tight budget but at least we know now.
    7. looking forward to seeing DS soon and making a HM chicken casserole for tea.
    Take care everyone
