Hi all
Did not post yesterday because out all day, very nice day indeed, so here are my pleasures for the last couple of days:
Yesterday:
1 - No-work-day!
2 - Went for an interview for a (vounteer unpaid) job to promote real bread in the community, to schools, hospitals, prisons etc...Will hear from them at the end of this week if they want me. I hope so, as it sounds so very interesting and it would give me the opportunity to refresh my project skills.
3 - Lunch in a vegan oriental buffet, very cheap eat all you want. Usually these are a bit grotty but because I had a very early lunch I arrived early and was the first, so I had all the choice of the freshest food and it was very nice.
4 - Went to my craft class and re-enrolled in the Make Do And Mend class in the morning, so my Tuesdays will be again craft days! (For any London-based OSers who might be interested, please see my separate post about it)
5 - in the afternoon I had a complimentary mini-facial at an Aveda counter in a department store in central London.
6 - DS came back from Italy with his friend and they had a lovely time there. It is great to have him back!
Today:
1 - Work all over and sorted in the morning.
2 - DD and her BF made a lovely lunch of lentil and barley soup with carrots and leeks YUMMY!
3 - The snow that fell this morning is melting so it is possible to go out and about without slipping on ice.
4 - A friend emailed me details of a free 3 day pass at Virgin Active gyms and I applied - hope to hear from them soon as I could really do with a bit of a nice free spa-time!
5 - Another friend emailed me details of an exceptionally good offer on a massage treatment from a little place that opened recently and I just had the treatment and feeling wonderful and relaxed now!
Hope you all have a great evening xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
My five OS pleasures today:
1. Making leek and potato soup with added pulses and a couple of bones.
2. Tea time fruity squares from 'The Women's Institute Book of Cakes' Came out beautifully
3. Laundered a couple of fleeces from the Lost Property where hubby works. They will suit him fine. (he has to take L/P to the Charity shop after six months of being unclaimed) There were also some lovely cot quilts that I may even cover with some of my own fabric as I want to get into sewing.
4. Bought some OVALTINE. Wow, it's so lovely to drink on these chilly afternoons
5.Only spent just over a pound on milk and soup bones and wasn't tempted by anything else. (The Ovaltine was bought yesterday to be entirely honest, but I've enjoyed drinking it today:D0 -
Lots more snow today here, so well and truly grounded. DH is very nervous about me going out and it's making me a bit soft. Today's pleasures:-
1. Not minding being confined to the house, maybe because this is the first winter that I've had company.
2. A big pan of leek and potato soup to 'warm the cockles'.
3. More cardmaking. Hopefully I will turn these snowy days into a bit of cash if I can sell them.
4. Hearing that my DGK's have cooked up a snowy day banquet today.
DGS (11) made cream of vegetable soup, they both made with mum's help hm chicken nuggets and hm chips and DGD (7) made a chocolate mousse for dessert. How OS is that. We'll have them posting on here in no time.
5. We only had a one course meal tonight but pork cooked in basics cider in the SC went down a treat.

Thanks Jollymummy, you've made my day!
And I know they are mine but they really are lovely kids (even when trying to sledge down the stairs on a cardboard box on a snowy afternoon!!)
DS2 has just put all my Tesco shop into cupboard / fruit bowl / fridge piles 'so you don't have to bend down so much Mummy'.
What have I done to deserve such wonderful children? I feel truly blessed.0 -
Evening all,
Not a peep from the date last night... at least I don't have to have the "I don't think that there is a future for us" conversation!
For today...
1) chatting with my mum on the phone.
2) Really positive about the various projects that I am working on - the big one will have a very tight turn around but I think that it will all be ok.
3) Revolting lunch at work... but was washed down with a roll of soft mints and fruit pastielles... my favourites!
4) Leaving work on time despite getting in late.
5) Had yummy veg soup for supper. I couldn't finish it so I've popped it back in the fridge. I am going to be a bad girl and have cupcakes which are a little dry with some custard... if I can be bothered to get out of my toasty warm, double duveted bed...Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Well, I'm poorly. It's nothing serious, just a cold, feel freezing all the time and have a very sore throat :-(
Anyway, the boys went to school yesterday (their first day there since 17th December) and were off again today! Quite strange to be watching BBC News 24 and see "Worcestershire" go past on the rolling news thingy! We do have a ludicrous amount of snow now...
5 for today:
1) Boys had a day off school! They have already made 2 snowmen and a snow sealion. We have a tiny garden so you can imagine how deep the snow is. Today they made half an igloo as well!
2) Was ill but mum, dad and brother came up in the 4 wheel drive to get me a few bits from the village shop.
3) Boys were very good, fussed around me and big son helped me make their lunch.
4) Mr T coming between 9 and 11. I don't know how I have run out of so many things. It the biggest shop I've ever done :-S, I had even run out of silly things like cake cases.
5) Got to stay awake now for Mr T so will lie on the sofa under a duvet with my hot water bottle and find something daft to watch on television.
No more news to report except little son has an appointment with his paediatrician tomorrow so I hope we can drive that far in the slush. And I hope they have another day at school!

Hi ACEY sorry to hear you're unwell, hope you feel better soon.
1) Feeling much better today, steroids are kicking in (although it'll be a pest weaning myself off them again)
2) My mum's been in hospital for a while my sis texted today that she's improving hoping this is a good sign
3) Watching 'Survivors' with dp this morning
4) Watching 'Green Balloon Club Scrapbook' and playing 'Hannah Montana' games with dd this afternoon (her school was the ONLY one open in the area, gold star to teachers and support staff)
5) Reading an 'In my slowcooker today...' thread and saving some recipes - spotted Ollie on the thread"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Evening all,
Mine for today:
1. DD lost her phone this morning  but managed to talk 3 into giving me a free replacement as our contract is up for renewal soon.
2. Even though it snowed here today still managed to walk home from work.
3. Lovely dinner of HM sticky chicken fried rice, DD's favourite so she was happy plus enough for OH to have in the food flask tomorrow for lunch
4. Laughing lots reading the "you know you are MSE when" thread.
5. Enjoying a glass of wine whilst catching up on here.
Hope everyone is safe and well.0 -
Evening all,
Trying to get on here (and off) earlier, desperately need an early night.
1. Having chocolate soya milk (mmm ok) topped off with squirty cream, now thats more like it. I dont really like soya milk but its supposed to be good for you (shh dont tell anyone about the cream).
2. An home made indian cooked by my loved one. He really enjoys doing the more unusual stuff. Pataks helped but hey it was lovely. Plus we had some easy cook wholegrain Basmati rice.
3. During my decluttering finding some books and magazines to read (Marley & Me, Moneywise so a mixed bag).
4. Making a pact with myself that every time I'm on here there's either washing, dishwasher or something being done. Makes me feel less guilty for spending a bit too long on here.
5. Celebrity Big Brother. Yes I know its not exactly high brow but boy its fascinating.
Keep warm.Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Get well soon Acey, hope the cold clears up sharpish!
1. Lovely neighbours doing the school run, and are happy to do so until the snow and ice go
2. Appreciating just what a lovely friendly village I live in.
3. Making DD's favourite banana loaf tonight, she's asked for a slice for breakfast, not sure about that, but certainly she can have some in her packed lunch
4. Nice man at Mr T's phoning me up to let me know a Te$co Direct order has arrived (free delivery to local branch), he was so friendly.
5. Back on the diet (again) but I now have a friend keeping me on the straight and narrow, she's very scary so I won't dare slip up now!
6. DD initially turning her nose up at her scrumptious leftover lentilly/veggie stew but I got it all down her in the end without any bribery, she was very tired so I fed her and kept on miscounting the promised 4 spoonfullsI'm cheeky but hey, she did enjoy it really! Not sure who was kidding who, I think she loved it really just wanted me to do the feeding, little baby girl.......
7. Looking forward to going to my bed, I've got 2 thickish duvets on there which seem to send me into a very deep slumber
8. Martin Shaw on the Beeb, yet another reminder of why I prefer men older than me, lol.
9. I now have 2 evenings out planned, both school events and I don't yet have a babysitter but I will get it sorted!!
10. DD's been invited to a birthday party next Sunday, I'll have to juggle our already planned weekend around to make it as we're going to be 2 hours' drive away, but will do my best to get her there.
EDIT
11. Just realised another one, had an NSD today6 out of 10, a shame that it's taking snow to stop me from spending!
Sorry, that was an essay and a half. Wake up at the back!0
