Something lovely to share with you. My job is as an e-tutor in Maths, (which is why I'm always on the Net). I teach employees of one of the world's major companies. Some of the learners are apprentices for the company and have the support of trainers on site. The trainers vary tremendously in their competence.
Recently I've had the support of one trainer who is absolutely fantastic. His boss wanted to nominate him for an award, and asked me to write a piece in support of him, describing the support he'd given me which I duly did.
Following this, he's been awarded Employee of the Quarter for the entire Southern Region and also given a national award. He has also been offered a job in training with the company when he completes his post-graduate teaching certificate (PGCE) next year.
Added to which he's also carrying the Olympic Torch through Newmarket in recognition of his outstanding voluntary work elsewhere (for Young Carers).
I am so pleased for him, so proud to know him and to be associated with his success.
I just emailed my bosses to let them know as well, they will be delighted as it is also recognition for our education programme.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
well done on his success Mcculloch, it's nice when nice things happen to people and he sounds like he thoroughly deserves it!
day 18 of being a hospital visitor
No discharge home today , may require more surgeryhowever, speaking with doctors tonight (when I wasn't crying
) I asked if he can have a home pass, so that's been arranged for tomorrow. So he'll come to us
rather than us going there. I know this will be utterly exhausting but I do think it will do him some good to get out of that ward! Even for a few hours.
1.Busy day at busyville!
2.Sat in gardens at break and watched parrots on the grass.
3.Got a lift to & from hospital.
4. My son helped me make my bed, put my heavy winter quilt on as it's chilly through the night.
Four's not bad for how I feel !
Enjoy your bank holiday Monday x0 -

Good luck on your return to work sonny
mhagster so sorry to hear OH not well enough to be discharged and may need more surgery. Thinking of you all and hope OH enjoys his visit home
My 5 for today
1. Not at work
2. Took oven apart, checked which element needed and have ordered a new one online £24.99 inc VAT and delivery and should be able to fit it myself (even with my very limited knowledge )following online "how to" saving myself loads a dosh on an electrician/fitter.
3. The sun has got his hat on...hip hip hip hooray :T
It was raining this morning but in last hour the sun has come out so have put washing out and am going to go for a walk
4. Baked carrot and apple muffins and was halfway through when realised I didnt have any eggs  so just loosened mixture with some milk and put in oven with fingers crossed .....and they have come out ok. Not as light and fluffy as muffins, but not as hard as rock cakes. Am sat enjoying one (or two) with a cuppa watching snooker.
Just seen a profile on Ray Reardon (dracula) looks really different without his trademark slicked back black hair but I suppose he is 80 this year
5. Looking forward to roast pork with apple and herb crust for tea nom nom

Evening all,
Nice lazy day
1) Reverbed 2p when I was tapping my foot waiting for a MrA man to find a digital decoder for me... It took him at least 5minutes (more like 10) for him to bring me the wrong one.
2) Popped into the local town and all the things I went to buy were not available so only spent £1 on parking and £1 on a CS book. Normally I don't pay for parking but am not sure about the rules on BH's
3) Yummy HM fishcakes and salad for both lunch and supper. I will have the last of the lasagne tomorrow evening.
4) My dear friend L has been a bit miserable of late and cheered up when I explained the concept of 5 pleasures
5) Big bowl of berries, yog and honey for pud. YUM!
Night night. I have a bit of a headache so am retiring to bed with my new book.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Lally reminds me of one of my fave jokes. 2 fish in a tank, one says to the other d'you know how to drive this thing? :rotfl:
Good luck with the day pass Mhags
All the best for tomorrow Sonny
Happy birthday chicken
1) no meetigns today and got lots of marking done (and 4really nice emails from students) :T
2) had 'interesting' lunch cobbled together from left overs. Very tasty :money:
3) afternoon also productive :T though made mistake of going to the office at 5 and getting 5 more 'little' jobs to do, all ticked off now
4) inspired by sistercas, drew silly faces on my eggs it made me laugh :rotfl: see how long before anyone notices
5) OH home (looking like a drowned rat) so we can have supper :beer:MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Mhagster - Hugs to you and hope your OH enjoys his home visit
Sonny - good luck on your first day back at work tomorrow
Pleasures for the last couple of days:
1. Was supposed to be going to the Foodies Festival at Hampton Court on Saturday with DD and MIL but traffic was horrendous so gave up and went for lunch and a browsw around the shops in Kingston instead. MIL really enjoyed herself which is good as she has been a bit stressed lately.
2. DD got a very expensive photo frame that was originally £40 for £4, it was reduced to £24 then had a £20 voucher thanks to MSE. No way would I have paid £24 never mind £40:money:
3. DD also saw a shabby chic notice board that she liked (one covered in material and ribbons to hold things in place) but she refused to pay the £10 they wanted for it. By Sunday morning she had made one from bits we had in the house. The best bit was for the ribbon she used the ribbon off the new lillets packets of sanitary towels :rotfl:
4. Tasty dinner yesterday of American Dinner Style food that DD wanted so HM bbq chicken in a bun with fries topped with cheese and bacon. So not healthy but fine for a treat
5. Read more free books on the kindle
6. Short walk on Sunday just 6 miles, getting ready for Saturday night when I do the 26.2
7. OH has started decorating my bra. How wrong does that sound. He looked quite funny last night painting a bra with fabric paint
8. Seeing a glimpse of my hometown on the TV this morning, made me smile
Hugs to all who need them0 -
chicken happy birthday to you!0
