    Morning,

Chicken - sorry to hear about your chook. Hope the newbies are settling in.

    1) Very unproductive day yesterday. Though I did wander about 50m down to the library bus to return my books and get some new ones.

    2) Started and finished a book. I have a vague feeling that I have read it before but the twist at the end still took me by surprise.

    3) Had left over lasagne for lunch and supper. I only have 2 more portions to get through before I can have something else. Unfortunately my freezer is completely chokka so I can't freeze them.

    4) Good BBM chat with a friend from home who is coming out to visit in August

    5) Flat is still vaguely tidy (as long as we don't talk about the kitchen or bedroom)

Hope you all have a good day.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

3 Sunday Service, and old excuse for

    5 Tea, and bikkies

No real shepherds were hammered during the coarse of this reply. Note, our cat is doing fine, he crowds the house, but is much better since the two forks rule. Current Lady Sonny is seriously afflicted by his roll eyes and leg curdling luvvies, though the diding of the can opener soes hinder further delights for him.

Have to agree with all of the advice for Mhagster.

During the most stressful time of my life I was so grateful for my job and for the income. People kept asking me how I could work with all the stress. Well, I think I would have cracked up without going in to work from 1-5.30 every day.

I was able to walk to the shops in the morning or go down town on the bus and all the exercise (plus added stress!) meant the weight dropped off me.

    Pleasures to share:-
    1. Getting lots and lots of little fiddly jobs done. I looked around for everything I'd been putting off and did it.
    2. Son is pulling his weight, currently he is hanging washing out on the line.
    3. Being able to cycle down town for shopping. Freezer shop has moved premises (Heron Foods) and new shop is so much nicer. If any of you have a Heron near you, you will know that they are fantastic for saving money. They are a Northern company not sure how far south they go.
I picked up four non-brand cod fillets for a quid, two tomato-topped Quorn fillets for ditto and some lovely luxury ice -cream for 75p amongst many other bargains. Also I got some yellow labelled food at Mr T's including four lovely plump salmon fillets.
    4. Watching racing on TV... Angrove Rumbaba (horse I have a tiny share in) runs again in a bumper at Hexham a week on Monday, something to look forward to. I'm not sure if I'll be able to go and see him, will have to negotiate with son.
    5. A really enjoyable book sent from Amazon Vine - for free- and some useful things to trial from Mr T's in the post as well.

Edit: Plus the pleasure of all of your pleasures. RIP Maran.

    1. NSD :)

    2. Making use of some of the wild garlic that's growing in abundance in the garden, nomonom, must find my blender and experiment to see if I can make some garlic, walnut and pecorino pesto for the freezer, I don't want to waste it!

    3. My dad came down and we all worked hard taking ceiling tiles down and clearing up the debris, oh what a mess, and the house looks even more like a building site than before, but it'll be worth it in the end!

    4. The three of us had a music session, my dad brought his banjo and we played our guitars, it was brilliant fun

    5. Feeling tired and a bit achy but happy that more has been done to turn our home into our dream home :):)

    6. Looking forward to picking OH up in a bit, for hopefully a lazy
bank holiday. DD's coldy and tired, so the plan is to mooch about doing not much.

    7. DD made her 'world-famous' chocolate vanilla marble cake to say thank you to grandad for his hard work - a great success, nomnom, and he took a hefty chunk but left enough for DD's packed lunches, hoorah!

    Just remembered a couple more:

    8. My dad brought a bag of home-grown rhubarb for me

    9. He also bought me a newspaper, a real treat

    Good evening all !

mcculloch- thank you re the Maran . The racing was on Ch 4 was good - have my eye on the French horse , Hermival who came third to Camelot yesterday - he was running on and looked a bit scratchy on that ground, might go better on firmer ground. Well done Ryan Moore on Homecoming Queen - the race was tinged with sadness though, following the incident in the stalls . RIP Grey Pearl.

Good luck with "Rummy" on the 14th x

    5 for today

    1. Couldn't sleep so watched some really good films until about 3 am this morning. Can't do that on a "school night" ;)

    2. OH let the hens out and let me sleep, despite bringing me up several cups of tea that went cold whilst I was asleep .:)

3.Having another nap this afternoon :D

    4. Watching the racing .

    5. New hens falling asleep on our laps , much to the disgust of the older ones.OH replaced the bark chippings in both coops - I love the smell of new bark chippings.

Have a good evening all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

Chicken, thanks for the good luck wishes for Rummy.
Yes, what happened to Grey Pearl was so bizarre and sad, for once Ch 4 was on the ball in updating us. They mentioned that the crowd at N'mkt had no idea what had happened, so minus marks to those on the public address at HQ.

Homecoming Queen was an exciting prospect too, I remember thinking halfway 'Not again, surely?' but there we were, a female Frankel -type display.

Good spot on the French horse, I'd missed him as I was busy watching Camelot. I thought young Joseph did really well to bring him through from so far back. (Although you can imagine the flak if he hadn't got there.)

    1) Visit from my youngest son who I haven't seen for 6 years:j
    2) Home made chicken curry for lunch

    3) Bleached my net curtains and dried them on the line in the sunshine, They look so good I don't have to buy new ones :)

    4) Made home made chocolate peppermint creams. Last time I made these was with my Mam, nifty something years ago. If I manage not to eat them, they are for family presents, what are the chances.

    5) Looking forward to the series finale of Homeland tonight.

One extra, finally finished 227 pages of Sneaky ways to save money. Brilliant.:T

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    1) A very long lie-in - I woke up at what I thought was about 10am, and found it was actually quarter to twelve!:o

    2) NSD and NPD.

    3) A brief chat on the phone to my DM, confirming when she and DSis are coming over tomorrow. :)

    4) The sun's come out here within the last 15 minutes or so - so that's what it looks like.

    5) Making frog and toad in the hole (sausage and leek) in my late grandmother's baking dish - how many toads has that seen over the years?

    Have a good evening, all.
Back after a very long break!
