    2. Swam outside - I do love it so much nicer than swimming inside.

I loooooveee swimming outside - I always feel like i'm on holiday. Sadly we only have one outdoor pool nearby and that is only open May to September and lately only opens in the daytime during school holidays - when swimming is impossible. My head was fine today, thanks, was just zonked out last night.

    So todays

    1. Made bangladeshi beef curry - taste was nice but beef really dry. I think my Slow cooker works best when cooked on low for 4 hours and it was on for about 6
    2. Bought pattern and lining to make skirt - now just need to make it.
    3. OH has done the hoovering :j
    4. Did a load more marking than I really planned
    5. Had a yummy soak in the bath this morning - read one of my work magazines so don't feel as guilty!

    Have a good evening everyone.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Take it like a man, sonny- sun !!! I want some ;)

Chicken sorry to hear about your chook, hope Astrid and Lexie settle in ok

Well its been an odd day today

    1. Lie in, then grunged around in my PJ's till lunch time. Raining again

    2. Tidied up, hoovered and got DS muddy clothes washed and on rack - no chance of drying outside today

    3. Went for a walk round pond....blimey its arctic out there..brrrr. Got rid of my empties in the bottle bank

    4. Prepared lovely tea of chicken kebabs and wedges, then cooker blew up :(

    5. Chat to DF on phone who talked me through changing cooker fuse, and then re-setting main fuse in main fuse-box. Top oven and grill now working so dinner back on :)
However bottom oven now not getting hot. Have had a look on web and found it may be th element which I can replace for £20-£25, and there is an online how-to replace it ....not sure I'm brave enough though

Chicken I'm so sorry to hear about your Maran. Hopefully she didn't suffer as she went quickly bless her. Btw I think you're amazing remembering people's sigs, I only know one which I 'borrowed' from the Lady poster a long time ago, and use often ;)
take it like a man ,sonny I remember that glowy thing, it used to appear a lot when I was a child :D
Ladyhawk perhaps you should experiment and pour your Baileys mousse over ice cream like they do in the advert :)

    1. The mutt let me sleep in til 9am. I knew I was late as the mogs were waiting by the back door
    2. Listed a bag of glass jars on freecycle, no replies yet but it's probably a bit early for jam making
    3. Postie brought me an M&S voucher for renewing my car insurance. It's the cheapest around for me atm so a double bonus :D
    4. Just when I'd scraped the last of the moisturiser out of the pot, postie delivered two more pots to trial :j
    5. Very cold and very windy today but I managed to tidy up the shrub pots at the front of the house, cut down the daffys which are only just over (they've lasted almost 8 weeks) and plant some trailing lobelia between the bulbs. Just hope it isn't too cold/wet for them
    6. Just enjoying a hot chocolate with the last of some squirty cream that's been hanging about the fridge for weeks, tasted alright so dumped the lot in the cup (it overflowed so had to quicklymake with a teaspoon) :o
    7. Casualty on later

Have a good evening and sleep tight :)

I'm now on Sunday but my Saturday pleasures are:

1.Wide awake at a ridiculous hour meant it was a decent time to phone my friend back home. As usual her wise words act like a balm.

2.Sunny start to day (though not warm) so hung out washing and went for my food shop. By some canny shopping it came in at a decent price. So cupboards & fridge stocked up again. Did an ironing & tidied up a bit.

3.Got an earlier train than planned as I was organised. Only had to wait 3 minutes for train, nice walk up to hospital.

4.I see such a difference physically in OH, every day as he gets a bit stronger. He is so tired and tires very easily but is coming on . Hope that home on Monday happens. Maybe his general mood will improve once back in familiar surroundings and less noise and in his own bed to sleep.

5.Train home (only had to wait 2 minutes) DD2 met me at the station, we went to library then Salvos. I got 2 tops for work , a nice grey cardigan & a totally gorgeous skirt. By this time it was very cold and had been raining.

    6. Home at a reasonable time meant heating on, candles on, feet up, bag of maltesers (special offer!) and a book.....definately a pleasure. Had a good chat and cuddle with DD2. School continues to be an area of unhappiness but some things have improved for her.

    7. DD1 came in from work, DS went to collect her, he made cheese toasties for tea, then they made popcorn and went to watch a DVD from library. We are such cheap dates! I went to bed .....then woke at 11pm thinking it was time to get up....a tad disappointed to realise I still had rest of night to go!

I continue to get emails from friends teling me to take time off work, stop doing so much ....I just feel like telling them ' you know what? I'm handling this my way and my way is to stay in control of what I can & keep things as normal as I can!' going to work is normal, washing & ironing school uniforms is normal, waking up early in the morning is normal for me! (I know I'm not sleeping straight through but I go to bed early enough and even if I wake early I don't get up until 6am ) I have to go and see my husband every day, I want to go and see him everyday so that just has to fit in with the work (who have given me time off) and the ironing & the kids! I am coping with my situation as best I can & think I'm doing rather well with it .....all things considered! Sorry if I'm having a rant! I know people mean well but grrrrrr!

    Enjoy your evening x( it's now 6am I can get up now! :) )

Thank goodness it was saturday today
    1) had lie in then put laundry out had a cuppa and breakfast and went back to bed.
    2) long soak in the bath. Having done toilettries audit beg 2012 finished off bubblebath last week  found an 'empty' tube of shower wash so washed that out in bath and had bubbles as well as warm glow of another UU :money: still have enough body lotion to last several olympics!
    3) lunch was some LO nibbles from last night with sauce made from LO passata, red onlion and 1/3 courgette :p:
    4) went to lidl rather late and no semi skimmed  so have bought whole and skimmed we'll see if it works :rotfl:
    5) couldnt find friend's party being held at someone else's house. Directions were vague to say the least. Was up a narrow single track road so we parked the car and walked what we thought was gonna be short and obvious. After some time feeling totally fed up and freezing we gave up. 10 mile round trip in the car :( But now we're home again, warming up nicely, fish and jacket spuds in the oven. As we're off on a jaunt tomoz weather permitting early night is a bonus :T oh and the washing dried which considering how flipping cold it is is a miracle.

Just to add - Mhags I so agree with you, you have to do it your way. I really don't see you as the type to languish on a chaise dabbing a lilac-scented lace hankie under your nose while occasionally swooning, only to be revived by your DC's with a bottle of smelling salts. It may sound all very ladylike but a good book and a bag of Maltesers sounds much more interesting :rotfl: You carry on handling things the way you're happy with :)

((((hugs)))) Mhags hang in there, you are doing so well. Do whatever you need to get through this and dont worry about what others say or think. As much as I hate my job at the moment there have been times where it has been the only sanity in my day, and has given me something else to focus on and taken my mind off other things. As you say, your friends are probbly just worried about you too

Glad to hear OH is still improving and that DD2 has seen some improvement with things at school xx

    1. DD gave me a guitar lesson this morning, she's so good, very patient and encouraging :) (and I'm really enjoying learning a new instrument, and am hoping that it'll learn to stay in tune)

    2. Saw The Lion King for the first time at the cinema at the kids' showing, £1.80 for the pair of us, far cheaper than the last time we went to the cinema and a great film!

    3. Went into Brighton and saw lots of the children's parade :)

    4. Went to check out some light fittings and bought a lovely shade for the hallway and DD chose a lovely one for her bedroom.

    5. Bumped into DD's lovely teacher in one of the shops

    6. Was given a £10 off voucher when we went into Next, which I've just used to order 2 fab shades for the hallway :)

    7. Spoke to one of the electricians who is bidding for the wiring and I feel happier with him so hopefully he will 'win' the bidding war, got to go for the cheapest as both chaps have good writeups on Check*trade and I've double-checked they're kosher with the electricity regulating body.

    8. Discovered a gorgeous market in Brighton, good job we didn't have any cash on us and the cashpoints were too far away!

Hello, so again we lurch from positivity to uncertainty as to whether OH will be discharged tomorrow, so he is rather (as am I ) upset about this. He just wants home so will wait & see what doctors say tomorrow (but in my heart I think he'll be staying :( )

1.Organised early & out for train. Sat & read my book.
2.Got a phone call from Medical Insurance company sorting out some concerns for me....it is such a different system over here. Definately not the NHS!
3.Visit from me then kids got a later train in. OH pleased to see them but exhausted with them being there. Home on train, read my book!
    4.Sat and finished my book!
5.All hoovered, bathrooms cleaned, bed made up for my FIL who arrives in 3 days! Kids are really looking forward to him visiting.
6.New series of Australian Masterchef has just started....love this programme! (TV here is quite crappy so nice to have something to look forward to!)

    Have a lovely day x
