    Hello everyone :hello:

    My 5 pleasures...

    1) Seeing the puppies which my parents' dog gave birth to during the week. They're so adorable and she's such a good mother.

    2) Cleaning the house from top to bottom. Not a pleasure whilst doing it, but def the end result is!

    3) Ironing mountain transformed into an ironed mountain. Bliss!

    4) My friend taking my advice and getting a new Nectar card and in the process advising her on how to use the eshops and get more Nectar points. One very happy friend!

    5) Ticking things off my "to do" list! Perfect!

    Have a good day!

Chickenopolis agree with yr comments re Grand National. Many moons ago (in my teens) I rode for a stable in Doncaster and there is nothing like a gallop on a thoroughbred, its heartbreaking to know about the casualties that die each year.
Glad to hear your throat is feeling better .

Skint - thank you , for two reasons. My throat problem, and also knowing that someone else also feels comfortable riding tb's with their knees under their chin (short stirrups):D Best feeling in the world , so far I reckon :)

    5 for today

    1. Didn't wake up until nearly 10am - unheard of ! OH let the hens out .

    2. Three lots of washing dried on line and the laundry basket is now empty !!

    3. Watching an old programme on 4 od about a free spirited chap who built an astonishing home from a 19th Century Scottish ice house , shame he already has a girlfriend .....just kidding;), I would have the house though .

4.OH cooking a roast for tea, the smell of which is making my mouth water as I type .

    5. Looked after Miss Barker the dog for the day as my Mum went out :).

    Have a good evening all!

Started the day lazily reading through mammoth living on 50p a day thread. Scribbled down loads of recipes. Fortunately my budget is nowhere so tight, but there was some interesting stuff, not least someone's siggie. Didn't take a note, but basically it said something like...
'when you can't control the waves learn to surf' having a bit of a tough time at work so have decided to take this to heart. Watch this space
    1) got together cleaning trugg of essentials including rubber gloves (!) have always thought rubber gloves far too girly for me, but what do you know? They're great! Meant i could clean the bathrooms with cold water :money: (no money spent, we have sooooo much stuff!) :rotfl:
    2) used sad lettuce in recipe from food aid book for lunch. Havent made it for yonks. As delicious as i remembered :money:
    3) walked DD1 to station along with DD2 and DS. We were very early so treated us all at the Discovery tea room. Then walked home with DD2 and DS. Quite like old times. And they let me wait and wave to the train :j
    4) just watched HOP with DD2. So silly, so fun (also pretty :money: i bought it and despicable me fiver the pair last week) Who cares I'm nearly 50 and she's 18 :T
    5) reverbed 18p (and 2cents lol) on walk with chilcren. They humour me :rotfl: so that takes me to a miserable 28p this month but £17.99 so far this year. Not decided what to do with it yet.

Feeling a bit better after feeling a wee bit grumpy in pain the past few days.

    For Today
We went out to an afternoon bootfair, we picked up a couple of tools and some tubes for the ferrets.
We popped into asda as we were over that way and it was near closing and the mob mentality there was scarey, I wasn’t up to fighting for RTC’s as not feeling to well.
Came home and hung the washing out and put towels on a hot wash and chucked the last pork joint we have in the oven to slowly cook through, while I put myself in a heap on the sofa.:rotfl:
Found energy to pop up and change our bedding, as I plan to have a nice hot bath tonight.
DH is working cutting wood and building a new animal cage, I love it when he creates things as he is just so talented, making it literally from a design he’s thought through.
I’ve got an interview in town tomorrow, so I will be spending what's left tonight preparing.:)
Looking forward to a bowl of porridge a bit later.

Evening all. Feeling very tired tonight and ready for a shower then bed. My five for today..
    1. A really good nights sleep and woke up at 7am feeling refreshed.
    2. A day at the beach with sister and family.
    3. Sausages cooked on the bbq and mugs of steaming hot chocolate at the beach. :-))
    4. Seeing the joy on DD's face sledging down the sand dunes.
    5. Sister and family coming back to mine this evening to a meal of chilli from the slow cooker which I'd prepared this morning.
Off for more physiotherapy tomorrow. Hoping it goes ok. I really need to be back at work soon.
    Love to all. X

    Evening all.

A quick one from me tonight as, like you beachbaby, I'm feeling pretty much ready for bed already.

    1) I really struggled to wake up this morning - I woke up three times before I managed to stay awake long enough to get up :o - which meant I missed the grand prix. Luckily it was repeated in the afternoon so I didn't miss the race entirely. :)

    2) Did a bit more work on my essay, although not nearly as much as I should have done - my tutor's pretty generous at extending deadlines, though, so it shouldn't be a problem if I don't finish it tomorrow (and I very much doubt I will, somehow).

    3) A nice chat with my DF about gardening, and with my DM about all sorts of things.

    4) Turned a couple of bendy carrots, some sprouty potatoes and some slightly-off milk into a very tasty root veg bake to go with...

    5) Roast pork for dinner. The crackling, as always, was the best bit.

PK - good luck with the interview tomorrow.

Chicken / Skint - my DSis is very keen on tb's - she has a reputation as being a very good exerciser of ex-racehorses. Being 5'11", though, she certainly doesn't ride with her knees under her chin!

Ladyhawk - I'm glad you're starting to feel better - I hope you're even betterer by now.
Back after a very long break!
  • ...riding tb's with their knees under their chin..

Brings back memories...Sadly gone are the days that I was 7 1/2 st :o
Poor beast would sag in the middle if I were to ride now ;)

    another day mooching around today

    1. Lie in
    2. Started book bought for 50p in cs... The time travelers wife - have seen the film at xmas but spotted the book last week
    3. Did some baking this afternoon, more carrot and apple muffins to use up last few fruit and veg, and made some flapjack
    4. Afternoon snooze :p
    5. Roast pork for dinner and crackling was crispy...nom nom... no wonder I'm not 7 1/2 stone any more :o

    1. After a very late night, we all had a lazy morning; I stayed in my bed til gone midday!!!, DD watched a DVD wrapped in a blanket and my friend read her Kindle and snoozed in DD's room. Just what we all needed :)

    2. Scrummy lunch and then yummy leftovers for dinner

    3. We went out to the cinema this afternoon, good film Pirates on adventures with whatever it was...but my enjoyment was marred at the cost of the tickets for me and DD, it was hideously expensive.....oh well....DD loved it, which was the most important thing

    4. The house is still looking pretty tidy after my efforts on Friday!

    5. Nice chat with my mum on the phone, she's sounding stronger today, but that could be down to the 3 hour nap she had this afternoon :)

    Evening all,

I got all ready on my work laptop to write you all personal notes but then I couldn't remember my password... So I have to make do with tapping this out on my bl@ackberry.

CHICKEN - ooh your brother is a hostage negotiator. Don't suppose he is 6'4", aged between 35 and 40 and single?

    1) Feeling so much better today

    2) Slept loads today - had both a morning and afternoon nap!

    3) NSD

    4) Had a bit of a tidy up. The flat is still a mess but it is decidedly better than it was.

    5) Watching Homeland. I find it a tad annoying but want to finish watching the series

    Have a great week

    L

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Ladyhawk - you took the question right out of my mouth, but I'm hoping he's up to 50 ;) (Luckily OH doesn't read this site, lol....)
