Thanks for the good wishes. Seen my dad tonight and he's holding up ok, as is my gran.
Despite sad news have had some pleasures today.
1. Really beautiful walk this morning, heavy frost, mist on the field and sunshine. It looked magical and peaceful.
2. H has had this week off and it's been really lovely having him home, shall miss him next week.
3. Had a quiet day today, felt tired and headachy so H has been on hand to help entertain the kids.
4. Totally not :money: but splurged and we all had a McDonald's milkshake
5. Finally finished H's birthday cake for tomorrows little gathering
Lady hawk hope you are feeling better soon xx
Mhagster hope you can go to rugby game, what a lovely gesture.
Hugs all round xxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Sorry to hear your sad news, BitsyBeans.
Hope your mum is doing OK, Kittikins.
Here are my 5 or so for today.
1) A lie in, although not as late as recent lies in.
2) Went fishing. :-) Took my brother and we went to the pool at our nearest golf course. It's not really set up or advertised as for angling so they just charged us £6 for the 4 of us - for the whole day! Smaller son seems to be a natural and caught lots of small coarse fish then 4 trout! Brother and I both caught a trout too then, right in the last few minutes, bigger son caught an enormous carp! (about 40cm long) Took a picnic too and it was bright, if a little cold.
3) Took brother back and had a piece of simnel cake at mum and dad's. My dad's old school friend was visiting and he is always interesting to listen to. He was a vicar (recently retired) and that's really not an interest of mine but he is fascinating to listen to.
4) Cooked the trout for tea. Bit of a pappy texture but OK.
5) Sons very happy all day. :-)
6) Text from the ex-husband that was actually sensible and talking about when he is to see the boys next week. I wanted to change his time on Monday from 10-2 to 4-8pm (purely so I can take them to Ikea!) and he agreed!!!!! Still a bit stunned.
So a good day. Still feeling a bit rubbish overall, which is annoying. Was awake until 4am last night, even had a mug of hot chocolate in the garden at 2.30.0 -
Bitsy - sorry for your loss.
Ladyhawk - I hope your brother can sort you out.
I am excited as DS is on his way home :j, so for today
1. DS is on his way home
2. Spent a while this morning catching up on carp TV programmes I like
3. Lunch out with DD followed by a little shopping
4. Inventoried the freezer and have at least a weeks worth of meals - actually more than a week.
5. Phone call with dear friend who is giving us his old kitchen table. It will be perfect in our conservatory and will help us to save some space in there.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Bb sorry to hear of your loss
Ladyhawk fab, fingers crossed
Frith trout nom nom

Exhausting day, and now in bed. Bit miffed cos rest of family went to edinburgh and i couldnt take the day off
1) garage chap has managed to get bolt out of motorguzzi. I'm told that's very good news (bye bye RDF) :rotfl:
2) lovely morning with colleague working on workshop for next week
3) did quite a few emails that needed doing :T
4) Had very nice quiche for lunch and supper. It needed eating by today and i'm on the oswl so didnt wolf down the lot for lunch :A
5) lost first two pounds on the oswl :j
Very happy cos all family here till sundayDD1 bemused by 'tetris' freezer. Has anyone else had the experience since going OS that their freezer has never been so full yet their SM never been so low?!

Well wishes to the poorlies, please get better now
Briefly, as it's morning alreaady..
1. Weather stayed dry so mowed the lawn in beautiful sunshine this afternoon (was to do it this morning but I procrastinated)
2. Chatty text from a lady I'm mentoring, she sounded very positive
3. Arranged a week away with DM, she then phoned to say she's changed her mind and doesn't want to go to that place . We go through this every year, she settles on somewhere, I do all the booking etc, then she'll change her mind 3/4 times before she's happy! Maybe I should wait and book just a week before we goFortunately after a hurried phone call I got the deposit back from a very understanding hotel manager
4. Found exactly the right colour of bedding for my bedroom, which I'm planning to redec in fresh green and white.
5. A lovely card in the post this morning from someone I exchanged phone calls etc., with over a year ago, thanking me again for what I did. I don't know what I did! But it warmed my heart to get it and know the sender remembered
Night night0 -
Good morning all!
Ladyhawk - you have my sympathy x Its not just the pain in the throat it just makes you feel so "low" and listless .
sparrer- I am not surprised about someone thanking you for helping them some time agoYou are a very thoughtful and selfless lady x
5 for yesterday
1. Spent most of the day asleep due to Day Nurse type medication - I needed it my throat was raging and it seemed to help lower my high temperature.
2. Two lots of washing dried on line and I woke up as it started raining so I got it in just in time .
3. Went out to a friends house for a "swishing " party of sorts -( no it doesn't involve car keys in a bowl ) One of the girls who always looks lovely in every outfit she wears brought along piles of pre loved clothes to sell to us and all of the proceeds will go to McMillan .
4.The above was really good fun, and I came home with a few things including size 8 low rise jeans... woo hoo ! I am pleased as they are also a 32 ins leg so they do not look half mast !Had a chinese takeaway too and donated my change to the above cause also.
5. CCP and VJsmum -saved the best until last .... I got a text from one of my colleagues to say that my boss is retiring in a few months time ..... we may end up with someone worse , but I doubt this !!
Yuk just found an ant in my tea
Have a lovely day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Hello, Saturday tea time here, sun has been shining and been pleasantly warm. I can cope quite nicely with autumn warmth.
1.well I've decided to be sensible and take painkillers! Having spent another painful night, got up at 3 am, phoned my sister and one of my best friends at home. Nice to chat to them. Wise friend gave me good advice ...I do like her wise words! Took painkillers went back to bed at 5 am and actually slept!
2.we went to next town and I met my managers mum, so had a hug and a chat with her. Again offers of help were made.
3.we went for lunch .I am aware our time together is running out before our life changes with the results of surgery. Lunch was nice....company excellent!
4.lots and lots of Easter chocolate reduced to 10 cents....would have been rude to walk past! A few rtc items in shopping.
5.tidied up (again!) so house is tidy for going back to work on Monday. Fridge and freezer and cupboards are all well stocked.
Have a lovely weekend.0 -
Hello folks, started typing then felt grumpy last night so deleted before posting, silly me......!!
yesterday's goodies
1. Nice chat with my mum on the phone. She's sounding tired and is hopefully going to stay out of hospital for a while now, fingers crossed!
2. Nice chats with OH on the phone (this is what made me a bit grumpy.......I feel like we've not spent any time together in months, just the odd moment here and there, but when I analyse it properly....I'm being daft, I had the whole moving house thing, my operation, being ill, then he's been ill....and then he sent me a lovely text just before bed telling me how much he's missing me)
3. Wrote a huge to-do list and have done the most urgent things!
4. Scary, but I enjoyed hoovering the house last night! I hate housework with a passion as anyone who's been to my house will attest to, but in the forever home it's easy, I can do the whole place without having to move the plug to another socket and its all on one floor, so easy-peasy
5. Got loads of washing done and dry on the line as I worked from home
6. Finally got round to doing my goals and development plan for work for the year, the most hated job of all!
7. Was told that I have a sexy voice by the man at the tyre place that I've booked the car in for tyres this morning. Bless him! I've told him he'll be sorely disappointed, lol. (Don't think I'm putting myself down, I know that I'm a hugely overweight, greying, slightly limping woman.........with a sexy voice)
8. The feel of getting into my bed with its fresh, clean air-dryed sheets was bliss.
9. Met a nice, friendly, seems very honest, electrician who came round to sadly tell me my whole house needs rewiring! Never mind, as soon as he started inspecting it, I knew it would need it and whilst it will probably clear me out financially, the peace of mind will be priceless, and hey, I can live with a building site kitchen and bathroom for another couple of years if needs be!
Right, that's Friday relived and re-enjoyed, time to get cracking with making Saturday the best day it can beHugs to all x

Bitsy Beans sorry to hear about your grandad. My gran passed away recently and although I have been grieving for her for years as she didnt know who I (or who she) was for years due to altzheimers it was still a huge loss
mhagster - take the painkillers !!! I do not belive in the mantra that painkillers are bad for you because they mask the pain. You may only need them for a short time but you need your strength at the moment. It sounds like you have some supportive people around you, "Good luck" doesnt seem to be enough to say for next week, will be thinking of you all and sending positive vibes, I hope all goes well with yr DH surgery
My 5 for yesterday:
1. Friday 13th and nothing bad happened
2. Yummy fry up for brunch
3. Sunny all day and no rain. Got more washing dried on line and managed to wash down front windows/door but am suffering a bit today with sore neck
4. Painted my sons old toy box, its a large chest and has now been requisitioned as a blanket box - he is 16yo after all
5. Phoned co-0p as couldnt understand my online bill. Have just transfered my gas/elec to them and it turns out they have given me £50 credit for joining, when I thought I had missed the deadline :j
Wishing you all a healthy and peaceful weekend xx
