Welcome back nich29580, I can't imagine how you coped for an entire year without broadband!! I'd get withdrawal symptoms after a few hours....ok, maybe a day.......

MHagster - thank you. Great to hear you being so positive - I had meant to put a bit in for you in my posting, but fell asleep doing it!
Thank God the Big C didn't go walkies. This time last year my sis had just had her op, hers hadn't gone walkies either and was confined to her breast. She's had a good year since then.
I think you are fully entitled to a bit of drama after (White?) Van Man nearly wiped you out! That's the Fates going '!!!!!! we missed him, let's have a quick go at her...'
I've just had my first pleasure of the day. The lovely couple who run my local live music club had a clear out of their CDs to raise funds for the club. I bought two which were compilations made at another local club featuring many of my favourite local (NE England) singers.
Including one man who has since died, John Wright (do check him out on You Tube - look for Black Clothes and Down Too Deep). He's singing Sand and Water which has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
John had the best male voice that I have ever heard live. We all miss him.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Grr - three times i have tried to post and lost it.
So can I just say get well to those who need it and positive vibes and hugs for all
Yesterdays
1. Back to work - not a pleasure except that it is a bit of normality and caught up with nice colleagues
2 Boss spoke to me - shock - probably for the first time since christmas. I don't think it's personal it's just that his people skills are lacking. Not a good trait in a boss
3. Left over fish pie and whoopsied brocolli cheese bake for tea - perfect winter food :rotfl:
4. Spoke to DS on the phone - was brief but contact has been made with him from his skiing trip. He is back tomorrow. I think I have missed him far more than he has missed me / us. As is should be, I guess.
5. Watched Muriel's wedding. It isn't usual for me to sit and watch like that but I really need to rest - my foreign travels were a bit full-on so I am taking it easy this weekend.
I will do today's later (I hope) I am off to turn DS bedroom around as he won't let me when he's here (tho he does know I am doing it)I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
here are mine
1 boys enjoyed the second half of their holiday club - realised i had misspelled one of the banners. The leader said she had noticed but only 2 of the kids had and no parents had mentioned it
2 had cup of tea and toasted tea cake in a proper tearoom £2.98 and chatted to a lovely old lady about the state of the roads and the lack of milk men.
3 bought a tweetie pie dvd for £2
4 brother and sister in law visiting
5 defrosted the very snowy freezer

VJsmum - SNAP ! I have one of these too , mine is just so rude ! If I had an inkling he was like this no way would I have considered accepting this job . However, I do let him have "both barrels" sometimes during supervision
Ladyhawk - I hope that you are feeling better ? look after yourself x
mhagster - no I don't think you are being dramatic, just realistic. I hope that you are not too sore today ?
Mcculloch- I love your posts
5 for today
1. Very busy day at work trying to prevent a potential crises that could affect many . So far so good.;)
2. I was tasked by another team to obtain some specific information re the above, during a site visit . I did ,and found "issues" which were talked through in order to prevent further problems.I will have to visit the site each week until I am happy.
3.Saw my "aunt" (who is my Mum's best friend) , and I swear that I am actually her child as we are so alike.
4.Three hens had limboed under the fence to the sectioned off grass and were not happy about being unceremoniously removed .
5. Day off tomorrow
have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

Me three! My manager is presenting at a seminar I'm arranging tomorrow, so she's had to talk to me about the arrangements - I think she's spoken to me more in the past couple of days than in the past three months combined!
1) Lots of good flashes of lightning - I love a good storm.
2) My flat is still nicely dry, so yesterday's repair on the door obviously worked.
3) I decided I really fancy beefburgers for dinner tonight, and was lucky enough to find some on special offer. (Not as good as making my own, I know, but better than paying full price!)
4) My OU tutor has sent round a link to a TV programme that's related to the course, so I can watch that and pretend that I'm actually studying.
5) Got a free packet of sunflower seeds from my veg box company - they'll have to go in pots as I don't have any garden space for them, but I hope they'll grow OK and provide some nice seeds for the birds later in the year.
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
My five are
1. Lovely sunrise over fields stii covered with hail - looked like snow.
2. DH being provided with lunch at work.
3. Making banana cake.
4. Chocolates at work.
5. Tomato seeds in the post.0 -
5 for me so far today (Thursday)
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Went to my sister's for a cup of tea and homemade biscuits.
3) My brother walked home from sister's house and my sons walked with him (about 2 miles). Doesn't seem to have tired them out much, though!
4) Really nice bread rolls for lunch with tuna and mayo and red pepper.
5) Big tidy this afternoon. Run out of logs now so this will be the last time the stove is lit for a good while.
6) Going fishing tomorrow with sons and brother, they are all massively excited. :-)
7) Made "special fried rice" for tea. Rice with left over chicken from a roast, red pepper, frozen sweetcorn and peas and some egg cooked into omelette chopped up in there too.
8) Just made some little individual treacle tarts for the fishing trip tomorrow. Also got some rice left, some cheese and potato pie left from yesterday and will do a few rolls.
9) Rain and hail today but nice now. Sons are still running about outside so I am surveying the clean and tidy living room. Can't actually move from the sofa because the final log is on the stove and its so massive I can't get the stove door shut! That'll be why it hasn't been burned before...0 -
A late addition from me - I managed to repair a hole in the seam of one of my pairs of work trousers! :j It's not a great repair, given that my sewing skills are roughly comparable to those of a particularly ham-fisted goldfish, but at least the hole's gone and I can wear the trousers again.Back after a very long break!0

Evening all,
Still struggling with the old tonsillitis, but don't feel quite a rough as yesterday. Not helped by doing a 12 hour day in the office
1) Was shortlisted for the job!!! The assessment centre is on the 24th (I've booked it as holiday as there is no way I could get away with missing the team meeting if I didn't)
2) Walked into town and bought some potato grow bags from wilkos which were on 241
3) Lots of nice messages from friends around the world re job shortlist
4) Spoke to me mam on t'phone
5) Boss liked a piece of work I have done. He normally nitpicks all the documments I write but this one was fine
Night all
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
