5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2
Comments
-
Evening everyone!
My 5 pleasures for today:
1) Meeting up with a friend and her children at an open farm/soft play place. I now have a business idea for my parents! (who are farmers and potentially have an empty barn...)
2) Found more bits to take to a charity shop. Really must do that tomorrow.
3) Made a HUGE batch of bolognese sauce. Some was eaten for supper tonight, the rest will be frozen for DH & I to work our way through over the next few weeks.
4) Beginning to work on "Flylady" principles, trying to spend about 15 mins at a time in one area... Only problem is that each area needs at least a day!
5) Rediscovered a £20 Lakeland voucher. Now to spend it!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Another pleasure!
Amused by a thank you card smaller son has made for my mum (she has paid for a term's swimming for everyone). He wrote "thank you for the swimming voucher. I shall use it wisely". :-D0 -
Chicken and CCP - blimey, it seems to be an epidemic. He wasn't there today so I don't know if it will continue.
On a bit of a downer tonight - I ring dad every day but sometimes I wonder why i bother. He has finally today moved to the rehabilitation unit he has been desperate to get to and did nothing but moan and say he wishes he hadn't bothered (like he had a choice!). He knows I have been ill but not once has he asked how I am (bit like my boss- till yesterday!). He really doesn't help himself contradicting what the staff have been told - unless they've been told he is a cantankerous old git! Anyway scrap the moan, just writing it down has made me feel better and at least he has had a sounding board. Trouble is I end up worrying for a day and the chances are that tomorrow he'll be all "Oh had a great day - it's much better here!".
So for today
1. Laughs in the office, hardly anyone there and those of us that were formed an elite gang
2. Boiler was gushing water - not a pleasure. But the plumber came round within an hour, fantastic service.
3. Changed round DS bedroom. It looks much bigger and decided to get him another chest of drawers which will address the storage issues. He doesn't like change and has not let me before, but I told him before he went that I was going to do it and he said OK. He isn't back until 10.30 pm and will be too tired to moan and by Saturday he will be used to it :rotfl:
4. Faggots en croute for tea - genius invention by the butcher
5. Boiler issue meant I had to leave work early = result. We've no heating or hot water till Saturday but I got an hour off work
Day off tomorrow. Last day for DD to be an "only" child - we are off for lunch and a bit of girlie shopping.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Well done Ladyhawk, that's brilliant news that you've got round to the next stage of the job
1. NSD - phew!
2. Scrumptious cuddles and silly chats with OH this afternoon, he's feeling ill (and I now have a horrible headache) so we're not together tonight *sigh* but in the circumstances, I'm very pleased as we'd be rubbish company for each other! Fingers crossed we're more compus mentus tomorrow night...
3. Popped in to a new vintage/antiquey/kitsch shop this afternoon and it's fabulous, I have to take DD back with me armed with "birthday present for mummy money" for later in the month as I saw lots of things I love - necklaces, pictures, a gorgeous green glass jug that I'd like her to choose from.....and the prices were good too.
4. Saw a couple of friends whilst I was there, as its owned by someone I know from the school run and there were some other mums and a few children floating around.
5. Have come up with what I modestly think are a few great ideas for this term's Rainbows activities
6. Have arranged for one of my oldest friends to come down for the weekend to see our new hovel, I mean house!
7. DD and I have enjoyed a lot of "horrible" things this afternoon - we got back in time to watch some of the Horrible Histories game show, followed by the HH programme itself, then her bedtime story was a chapter of a Horrible Science book! Fabulous. I left her (in my bed, so nice and snuggly for me in a bit) reading the next chapter, so no doubt I'll hear lots of pearls of 'horrible' wisdom tomorrow morning
8. My mum is out of hospital, hoorah! But boo to the nasty thing wrong with her heart that will most likely need an operation soonish...
9. DD had a brilliant time today at her holiday club, there were no issues getting her there this morning thank goodness
10. Gave some information and help to an Italian colleague who is planning her boss' trip to my office in a couple of weeks' time and had this lovely response "I can’t say you’re a star, that wouldn’t reflect the truth, you’re an “entire universe” J

Mhags:- Its lovely reading your posts.
LadyHawk:- Big congrats on the job short list, everything crossed for the next part.
Kittikins:- So glad your mum’s out of hospital.
Aiming very low today, I’ve only managed a couple of loads of washing and that was going at a very slow speed, recovering slowly but the antibiotics are horrible, pretty much been sitting watching sky family movies.
I have my fingers crossed a little local temp job wants to see me, I said I will see them when I’m a bit more recovered hopefully Monday.
I have spent online, for 2 replacement water filters. So it is a spend day, but it is a NPD.
A couple of loads of washing clean
Saw a black/white/red woodpecker on the garden bird feeder
A lovely warm cup of tea, warming my hands up
Relaxing, watching movies0 -

Chickenopolis - thank you!
1. A far more 'with it' day today. Yesterday I went back on to some very powerful pain killers that I hadn't taken for a while. For the first time in my life, taking tablets (Tramadol) made me sick. Not nice, I'm a sick-resistant person, have never been seasick or airsick so this was an unpleasant surprise. Today I took just one tablet.
2. Chat with my son's lovely friend who was back in the country for his mother's funeral. Sad reason but lovely to talk to him face to face instead of relaying messages via my son over international calls or Facebook.
3. Being able to watch the racing on the TV and do some work at the same time. (Also watching some of my favourite horses and jockeys, and one of them won.)
4. A magazine dropped through the door from The Retired Greyhound Trust. I support the charity but have never received a mag from them before. I support them in memory of an online friend who died last September - I've just been talking to his daughter on Facebook, another wee pleasure.
5. A lovely shower this morning and thorough pamper. The new grab rails fitted yesterday meant that I was able to move around far more freely in the shower, rather than standing frozen in one spot with nothing to hold on to if I lose my balance . It's only when things are suddenly much easier that you realise how difficult they were before, sometimes.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
My pleasures for yesterday
1. Weather was kind, lots of sunshine which meant the kids could p,ay in the garden all day.
2. Some heavy rain last night which saved me watering some new turf.
3. Finally planted some seeds in the propagater although I've left it down the garden oops.
Unfortunately bad news last night, my grandad suffered a heart attack and has died. Am gutted for my dad (it's his father) as he's not lost a parent til now. I feel strangely sad even though we weren't close and he wasn't a very loving grandparent. It's probably someone who forms part of some childhood memories is no longer there.....anyway I am rambling. I will try and pop and see my dad today so I can give him a hug.
Hugs and spoons to those that need them.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Bitsy beans - I am sorry to hear about your grandad. I will say prayers for you and sending hugs and will be thinking of you.0
