Old Tractor, you sound amazingly happy, so pleased for you.:j
Chicken:- I do feel a bit chilled, though desperately looking for a job, also enjoying the temporary sunshine, I know the jobs will be weird for the next few weeks with a lot of companies not signing off on roles until first couple of weeks in April so things are quiet, I’m trying not to panic just yet.:o

We are starting to sort out the caravan, as we are off for a few days over the Easter weekend, I am daftly excited. But the cat as if from beyond the grave, decided to have left us a few err treats in there... I never got used to the yuck factor, but she was so offended when I “screamed like a girl” at her mouse offering’s! So she stashed it in the van along with a bird for us to find, and so I shrieked again at the unexpected find, if I didn’t know better I would swear she planned it:rotfl:!

I feel like going out tomorrow and just enjoying the weather, but it would have to be no/low spend and I am out of inspiration.

    1. Memories of my gorgeous animals making me smile rather than tearful.:)
    2. We have not been spending on food this will be the third week and I am really starting to struggle now, but we are saving as we could do with visiting Costco as some of the vouchers we received are perfect. So dinner tonight is a disaster of leftovers covered in sacla sauce.:D
    3. I am totally up to date on everything for oh at least a day but no clothes washing / cleaning etc that needs doing “today”. Do need to clean the car and caravan thou ops
    4. Cleaned the windows in a spur of energy.:)
    5. The sun giving that relaxed vitamin d feeling.
    6. Looking forward to a nice hot soak in the tub.
    7. Treating myself to a new but cheapish maxi dress not very os but worn a vast amount, and free delivery offer.

    Evening all.

Mine for the past couple of days:

    Yesterday:
    1) Reverbed a penny.
    2) Found the second book in a series I've been reading on special offer - £2.99 if I bought a newspaper - which suited me nicely. :money:
    3) HM sausage casserole for lunch as I was out in the evening and wouldn't have time for a main meal at dinner time.
    4) Toasted hot x buns with lemming curd for tea.
    5) Evening out with friends, at the pub with the lovely labrador. I didn't get much of a cuddle this time, but it was funny watching him sneak up behind anyone wearing shorts and press his wet nose against their bare legs. :rotfl:

    Today:
    1) My manager has agreed to let me go to a conference in May. :j It's in Birmingham, which reminded me - has anyone seen Millie recently?
    2) Bought a much-needed new pair of casual shoes for £30, reduced from £60. :money:
    3) Came home early from work as I wasn't feeling well - there's a stomach bug going round the office :( - a lazy afternoon at home is always pleasant even if the reason for it wasn't.
    4) I'm feeling well enough now that I'm off to find some dinner in a minute - I just need to find something that's tasty but that isn't going to make me feel queasy again.
    5) Lots of sport to watch this evening - I've got a choice of two football matches, tennis, or ice skating.

DundeeDoll - your new book project sounds intriguing. A couple of my favourites - One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez (an English translation, unless your Spanish is much better than mine ;)), or, for something silly, The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde.

    Have a pleasant evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

Definitely in english. One hundred years it is. My all time fave book is jane eyre so i was rather trepidatious about reading the eyre affair. I totally loved it and subsequent books. :T thanx CCP right time for the pub

    5 for today (Wednesday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Painting finished, tidied up.

    3) Went on massive walk with my brother and his dog. Really hilly footpath with loads of violets and primroses.

    4) Got bigger son some new shoes after school.

    5) Sons went to school disco. Bigger son sneaked into his classroom and has put everyone on "gold" on the behaviour chart (except his arch enemy who is on "red", ahem) and has put the clock forward in there by 15 minutes!!

    6) While they were in the disco, I went for a walk into the forest (school backs onto 6,000 acre forestry commission land) and I saw 5 deer on my way out and 8 on the way back (probably the original 5 and 3 friends).

    7) Just doing post-disco hot dogs.

5 books to read... To Kill a Mockingbird, Far From the Madding Crowd (less depressing than Hardy's other works!), definitely Under Milk Wood erm.... er...

    will think of another 2!

and remembered 8) Smaller son arrived at school disco and the head said "hello, C - have you got your dancing shoes on?" Smaller son looked down and said, "No, I've got my trainers on" ! :-D

10,000 Miles without a Cloud by Sun Shuyun ("Following the journey of a 7th century Buddhist monk" "
It is a great travel book, leading you mostly through parts of China and India which may not be so familiar. It is also a fascinating journey into the impact of Buddhism, from the perspective of a 7th century Chinese monk who embarked on a journey to India for elightenment, and from Sun Shuyen, following in his tracks seeking understanding of the thing that her Grandmother held in higher importance than the Party. "

I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith

    1. The sunshine again :)

    2. Walked DD up to school for the first time since my op today, woohoo! Did a bit much all in all and am paying for it now, but not as badly as some of the other evenings, so that's good.

    3. Popped out with a friend to get cough medicine which seems to be really good, hoorah!

    4. I've done a quick recce of the freezer and food boxes (no cupboards at the mo!) and will only need fresh stuff in April. Yay, more using up and saving money for me (much needed!!)

    5. Lovely salad lunch al fresco with my chum and two littlies.

    6. Bumped into a friend from work and her hubby and stopped for a natter.

    7. DD showed me the physics she has been learning at school this week, very interesting stuff :)

    8. Lovely chat to OH just now, shame he's now got the cough and cold :( Will try and get to him tomorrow with a bottle of my new cough mixture as its really helping!

Kittikins - I've been meaning to read "I capture the castle" - you reminded me.

Meant to be packing for my Swedish study visit - ooh just remembered I need to put in a cozzy as there is a sauna at the hotel (no I'm not - not with all the students about! :o so cozzy it is)

    Quick 5 for today

    1. WEnt into work late as house was a tip and MIL was coming - can't have her talking about me.
    2. Got shed loads done at work today - nothing like knowing you are going away to spur you into completing stuff. I am back on TUesday but still felt spurred on!
    3. Yummy chicken in the slow cooker for tea - v. easy
    4. Not having to do shopping as OH said he'd sort for when I'm away
    5. Going to bed early (I hope) as I have to be up at about 5!

Will try to give you my scandinavian pleasures (ooh err :A) while i'm away so I'll see you in Sweden folks!
I wanna be in the room where it happens

I Capture the Castle......aaaah, I read it as a young girl of about 8 or 9 and love it every time I re-read it (its one of the few books, along with The Pursuit of Love by Nancy Mitford, that I can read and re-read.... :)

    Hello again..
    1. Sunshine! Wasn't out in it much but it's lifted the nation, hasn't it?.
    2. A competition win. This used to be my main hobby years ago and I did so well too. Then professionals took over slogan writing and people could buy winning slogans. I saw a slogan I'd written used by someone else, which annoyed... This win was on Facebook and I had to write something that caught the eye. The prize was a gift box of pasta and sauces.
    3. Finishing a book sent by Amazon Vine to review (a freebie). Wonder, by RJ Palacio. Five stars plus. I predict this will be a publishing sensation and I got it for nowt!
    4. Finding a tube of hand cream that I thought had been binned accidentally.
    5. Stretching a tub of Mr T's Value coleslaw with finely grated carrots and red/white onions to three times the original volume - and there was still enough dressing to make it moist. It also tasted much better with the additions, imo.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

DundeeDoll your blackberry reminds me when DGD got what I though was an eye pod - in my experience this is a little container of moisturiser for the eyes made by Ol@y. Couldn't understand why she needed it at her tender age and we had a very strange conversation until it was explained to me what an ipod is, with an 'Oh, Grandma!' sigh

    1. Visited DD, took her a dress she said she'd liked when we went shopping a few days ago. She was more than pleased with it :)

    2. The car turned into the garden centre on the way home - I did fight it but it won again :o. Only bought a giant bag of compost, 150 litres for £8, and I used one of my gift vouchers so got a £2 voucher as change

    3. My savings account had the annual interest added to it, a very nice surprise. Then they took off the tax which wasn't so nice but still ended up with more than I expected

    4. This one not from today but I'd forgotten about it til now. My water company (Anglian) has exempted blue badge holders from the forthcoming hosepipe ban, so it may be worth anyone with a blue badge looking through their water co's website. Will certainly help me as I won't have to carry cans and buckets as I did in the past. I only had the outside tap installed last year and it's a real Godsend. I won't abuse the priviledge though.

    5. Gave away two old suitcases on freecycle, the lady only wants them to store linens in her loft so although they're past their best, they're ideal for her purpose

    Sleep tight :)
