5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Afternoon all - back from MIL's 80th birthday weekend
So for the last few days
1. The weather - which was stunning
2. MIL liked her "tea hamper" pressie and LOVED her cake - she cried when I brought it in.
3. Being with the family (although there were a few tensions) but still MIL was happy with it all. BIL died a couple of years ago so it is always bitter sweet for her when the family get together as there is a gap..:(
4. A walk up the Malvern hills yesterday - wish we could have done more tho.
5. I went to Ikea this morning and bought new dining room chairs, these pine ones can go into the conservatory and the white plastic garden chairs in there can go back in the garden!
6. Visited a friend who is off sick. he is lucky to be alive as he had a pulmonary embolism.
7. DD got into her sixth form of choice :T
8. Once again I have finished the marking - tho I do have a project to sort out.
9. SIL and I have arranged to spend next sunday with MIL - Mothers day. It is my DS birthday but his dad (OH, MIL's son - obviously) is taking him and some mates to football quite a long way away, and MIL's daughter can't be with her so the widowed SIL and I and her are all going out to lunch. None of us any longer has a mother and we are all someone's mother so we are going out together with my DD and niece and nephew. Should be nice.
10. Came home from weekend away with a load of food that would otherwise have been thrown away, should get away with a cheap groceries week.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hullo girls I am glad most of you have been enjoying the weather and I hope you are in good spirits and have all hope you have had the news you all wanted to hear.
1. Got into the garden and cleared the old dead stuff ready for planting new plants.
2. Got some vintage pyrex storage canisters for a pound each today, saw what they cost on line and I actually got a bargain!!!
3. Ordered Nickelbacks new album as we have it on MP3, but I prefer CD's so I treat myself!!!
4. Not going to sleep as it was such a beautiful day and I didnt want to waste a single moment of it!!!
5. Talking to DH about sorting the living room out and getting a bigger fish tank and new furniture that all matches!!!!Has anyone seen my last marble:A:A:A:A

3. Have checked council tax and ours is staying same this year..no increases :j and reminder came for car tax  £130 but have saved up to pay for it, so paid that online this morning
5. Managed to stay on budget at A1di and got a full refund on the manky lamb shanks with no argument. They were £4.99 so was worth plucking up the courage. Why do I feelasking for a refund ??

Evening all,
DundeeDoll - how lovely that your son doesn't mind being seen with his mum. Hope your library fine was less than mine (£7.80!!! eek!)
Chicken - lucky you remembered your colleague/ 2nd cousin's birthday today rather than tomorrow. I arrange everyone's birthday cards at work and am well know for getting the wrong day, or even month!!! :rotfl:
Rainy-days - your wood polish sounds interesting. I have a table and chairs that were chemically stripped a couple of years ago and keep meaning to polish them. What is the recipe for your polish?
Kittikins - I'll add my voice to the chorus - GET SOME REST!!!
Skint - well done for plucking up the courage to take back the lamb shanks :T
Lally - Well done on your bargain canisters
VJsmum - how lovely that you are spending mothers day with your MIL.
PK - good luck for your interview tomorrow.
Tealady - lucky you getting seats both ways on the train. Glad that the football holigans were well behaved
MHags - sorry you didn't get to enjoy the public holiday. hope the family came up with something lovely for supper
1) Day off work :j
2) Paid my library fine so feel a little less guilty about it
3) Paid in a couple of cheques at the bank from my energy provider who was charging me rather a lot in my direct debit
4) Baked a loaf of bread (even if it was in the BM) and thoroughly enjoyed with it some HM lemon curd... nomnomnom
5) Yummy HM fishcakes and salad for lunch... though I have now burnt my mouth - served me right for being greedy!
6) Popped to H0mebase and picked up some violas for £2 (down from £3.50)
7) Did come gardening and weeded two of my flowerbeds and planted the violas in the hanging basket
8) Did the final load of washing
9) Cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen and tidied the lounge and bedroom
10) Kitty cuddles though I have the scratches to show his displeasure about being shifted off my lap
11) Hot bath and read one of my favourite books
12) Sorted out my home insurance
Wow... 12 pleasures. I knew I had had a good day but didn't realise how good!!
hope you all have a great week

Ladyhawk, well done for turning library fine into a +ve. I found out recently i can renew books online if i've registered (which i have now). Does your library do the same? Sadly for me someone else had reserved the book so in this case i could only renew one of them. Fine was 20p. Last year I was buying eBooks at £3-£5 a shot So your fine would have been a week on amazon! Defo not OS.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

DundeeDoll - yes mine does but I had a bit of a moment and thought that my books were due back a week later than the were. Doh! It has really put me off using the library because the fines are so high!Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry.
