dundee doll: good news!
1.Woke up early so just went into work early & got caught up with some things in peace & solitude (well for 30 minutes!)
2.Saw some beautiful flowers on a shrub this morning, no idea what it is but very pretty.
3.Getting my council Tax bill for home in Scotland. We will still get a 10% discount as it's long term empty but that's better than having to pay full amount which I thought we would. I just wish it would sell!
4.Working my way of my 'to do' list & ticking them all....I do like a list & I do like to tick!
5.DD1 getting her work placement confirmed, will be in my workplace (not where I work though) so she can hitch a lift & I won't need to worry about her getting to & fro (or have to pay fares!)
Have a lovely Wednesday whatever you get up to!
Broomstick & Sparrer & Ninoodle: hope all is well with you & you are just 'stepping away from the computer' ...something I should probably do!0 -
Morning
DundeeDoll - Great news
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. NSD as anything bought was on expenses
2. Lovely free breakfast on the train, I could get used to travelling 1st class
3. As had breakfast no lunch needed so used my lunch allowance as away from the office to buy some sausages in M&S for dinner
4. Return journey on train given a free chicken sandwich (OH lunch today), crisps, cake and an alcoholic drinl. Could definetely get used to this life.
5. Snuggled up in bed with DD reading more of her book though she did fall asleep. It was like she was little again instead of 16.
Hugs to all who need them0 -

It's been great so far. a bit like skill sharing but without expecting anything back. I'd encourage everyone to do it.

hakeber -you are fab. its a shame you don't live near meI give all my hens eggs away and I don't expect anything in return . I just like other people to enjoy them as I do and I have more than enough , why not share?
Ladyhawk - cider on expenses ?? Did you drink it from a can on the trainnot White Lightening surely? and you being a Lady (hawk) and all
Dundee Doll -:T:T:T excellent news. I do empathise re the anxiety of results . I regularly have MRI scans to check that the thing that has re grown in my spinal cord has not turned into another tumour .You don't realise how stressed out you have been until you have had that conversation x
5 for today
1. The unannounced site visit at work went well .
2.A colleague in another team admitted that it was his lack of recording that prompted my site visit and he apologised for making unnecessary work for me.
3.Although it was a bit cold when I came home from work , I am loving the lighter evenings .
4. The dishwasher was not draining so got a posh plunger out and well ...plunged and plunged and eventually it seems to have cleared . I have just put the machine on so I will see if it drains later.
5. OH phoned me from Egypt as he can't Skype me - he spent and hour on the phone talking about himself and then he said "I have really got to go as the call is costing a fortune" I said that I was happy for the call to have terminated 30 mins earlier but he was talking about himself so much this had not been possible. He found this hilarious .
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

1) very gd seminar at lunchtime with free lunch. I took sandwich bags cos i knew there'd be leftovers so now have 6 lunches in fridge/freezer and 8 slices millionaire shortbread
2) took large bottle of water so didn't need to buy tea which has gone up to £1.20 a cup!
3) took mug for water so could fill that with tea at end of seminar for free
4) another seminar, this time with wine and nibbles ( i did get marking done in between meetings and seminars honest)
5) OH found my watch which i'd 'lost' 2 weeks ago. I'd left it in the car oopsMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

5 for today so far.
1) Looking round another primary school for smaller son. :-( Not something I thought I would ever have to do. New build school, fantastic results, friendly staff who listened to us. Talking about my son and how he is now almost a school refused, it made me mum well up. :-( There is a waiting list, though.
2) Thanks to a p.m on here, hearing about Parent Partnership - have sent them an email.
3) Having lunch in the local Forestry Commission cafe with my mum.
4) Smaller son had a good day at school!
5) Sons happy playing outside on scooters for hours.
6) Texts from OH.
While we're on the subject of OH, bigger son has decided he doesn't like him. :-( Not sure what to do about this (it's been going on since Christmas but is getting worse). Bigger son is now saying he hates OH's sons and is turning smaller son against them. Every time OH comes round bigger son says "Today I am going to tell him how much I hate him" :-( Bigger son is refusing to ever go to OH's again and is basically laying down loads of conditions that I am supposed to adhere to for OH to come here.
It all reached a head last night when I said we might join them on holiday (camping) for a couple of days. Bigger son was wailing, crying, swearing, saying he's going off to his father's...0 -
Just wanted to say a big thank you for all of the kind thoughts and support about the interview:) I'm not sure it went as well as I thought so still applying, they said that infamous line of they were also considering an internal candidate, which inevitably means cutting costs.
1. A very long layin as I was feeling awful, it was afternoon by the time I woke up. I phoned the doctor as I need something to shift the bug that appears to have settled in and they didn’t have an appointment for 8 days!:(
2. Applied for a couple of very very promising roles and have lots crossed as usual.:)
3. Put my homebrewing strawberry wine on to start and both myself and OH are really looking forward to it. It’s first time so who knows, in order to find space for it I gave the gifted wine we have been given away to the neighbours who are so so happy. :rotfl:Glad otherwise I would have had to put them down the drain, they are giving me back the bottles for the home brew and they fancy the idea of being strawberry sweet wine guinea pigs.:rotfl:
4. As I was late all day we were late to Asda and what a great hawl, £8 flowers for 20p, dinner was 10p quiche, and breakfast and lunch will be 10p goodies, the rest of the 10p and 5p items have been put in the freezer, but there was literally no one about looking for the goodies so it was nice to pick them up.:j:j
5. Looking at bargain flowers:p0 -

haha!:rotfl:
I did joke to a colleague as i walked out of the office that I hoped they had a bar on the train because I wanted a glass of wine and I hoped that it was served in crystal glasses - because I'm all class! I can confirm that it certainly was not White Lightening! I did feel very scummy drinking it from the can though
I really like to imagine what you all get up to in RL. Chicken - are you a H&S auditor? (you don't need to answer me)
1) NSD
2) Conference today was good. I was a naughty girl and skived off one of the breakout sessions. In my defence, I had sat through the exact session last week at another conference.
3) Kitty was hassling me for food when I got home.... its been a while since he has been hungry so fingers crossed that he is on the mend
4) Managed to get an earlier train home from Manchester than expected. I also got a seat at a table so I was able to get some work done on the train.
5) Yummy HM fishcakes leftover from Monday and RTC salad for supper. I feel virtuous as I had dried apricots for pudding.
Night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
