Skint.. So sorry for your loss.
Evening all,
1. I have spent a little time today reading up on the MSE forum there are so many great threads and diaries, I have to admit it was one of Kittikins' posts that lead me to look around the MSE forums a lot more, so much information out there.!:o
2. It has been a lovely day 2 loads of washing done and line dried (yippee, less leccy used):p
3. Animals all cleaned out and happy.:)
4. Popped across the bridge to Costco / Ikea, we had a stroke of luck in Ikeas chuck out area that just occasionally has decently marked down things, they had just taken down a display of big fleeces that we use to sew animal hammocks and animal bedding, reduced to a £1 each from about 2.90ish so we bought the lot. :rotfl:We popped to Costco for their offers, and treated ourselves to a chicken half has been eaten tonight, the other half is curry tomorrow.
5. Free tea and coffee in ikea with the family card, it was lovely to casually ponder round during the daytime.:j
6. We popped to a (I can’t remember what they are called the shops that sell items maybe beyond their use by dates for a fraction of the price – mostly). They had plants in at a fraction of the price to garden centres well a pound each, so we got big tubs of daffs, oregano, aubrietias for a pound each, very happy me!:) I am aiming for a herb garden one day, I've achieved free mint, chives, rosemary and parsley to date thanks to MIL's green fingers mainly0 -
Sorry to hear about your gran Skint. Hugs to all in need. Gone 9 and still need to finish tomorrow's lecture so a quick 5:
1) 1st free lunch (from leftovers at yesterdays seminar, now residing in my freezer)
2) Found my library book - I'd left it in my friend's office d'oh, but now of course can't wait to finish it ;-(
3) Stood firm on an academic argument - a matter of semantics
4) After a pitiful month on the old road kill (40p before today), found £1.04 walking down to station to meet OH
5) Made chocolate crunchies for DS from plain chocolate that needed using up and SM frosties that also needed using upMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Sorry to hear about your loss, Skint.
Here are my 5 or so for today.
1) Boys in a much better mood, thank goodness!
2) Went to yoga for well over an hour (she overran). Just been telling bigger son it was all going well until I looked down and saw a WORM on the yoga mat! It didn't seem right to stop doing yoga and chuck it outside so I flicked it away. Looked round later and it was nearly on the mat again! Then I bundled it up in a tissue and flicked the whole bundle away. Goodness knows what the teacher thought I was doing. (It wasn't my mat, by the way, and I don't think I brought the worm in with me!)
3) Went for a walk with my brother and his dog.
4) Texts from OH. :-)
5) Brother came round to play on the Wii with the boys.
6) Getting ready to go to the coast. :-) Got a teacher training day tomorrow so we're off to Aberdyfi on the train. :-)0 -
Evening all,
I am a weary little Hawk today... I was in a full days training today followed by 4 hours of workThe good thing is that I am going to have a little lie in tomorrow as I will be working from the London office so have to wait for an off peak train (to reduce the cost for the company obviously)
1) The training was good - it as preparation for a mentoring programme that I am about to start (I'm a mentee). I'm really looking forward to the programme and to finding out who my mentor is.
2) NSD (lunch was provided in our restuarant)
3) Huge but odd supper... left over mash potatoes with left over roast veg. Followed by salad with more roast veg. I'm stuffed! It was tasty and at least now everything has been used up.
4) My boss gave me some fabulous feedback on a project that I have just concluding. He's really chuffed with the outcome - I don't think that he thought that I would achieve nearly as much as I did.
5) Kitty ate all his wet food last night. Poor lad looks so skinny these days. It quite a change from the ball of lard he was only a month or two ago.
Sleep well.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Ladyhawk :I think your job sounds very glamorous and quite exciting!
Skint: sad news about your gran, they are very special people. I still miss mine many years on. remember the good times .
Thankyou for your comments about DD2, I wrote a letter to year head this morning and she has spoken to DD2. She also witnessed an incident in class...DD2 was asked if she was not being a bit paranoid the other week by a teacher! Er....no, I don't believe so! Hopefully it will get nipped in the bud before it gets too out of hand, girls can be so nasty to each other. I just ached for her yesterday she was so unhappy.
Anyway:
1.It's Friday (tea time here, I've done a hard days work!)
2.Remembering I had bought RTC choccie muffins the other day....perfect with some RTC cream!
3.Getting our roof fixed this morning, we have had a leak in family room when there's been heavy rain. Have had very heavy rain today & no leaking! Hurrah! And we didn't have to pay:)
4. Receiving a letter at work today from a customer. It is nice to be appreciated.
5.Garden looking nice & autumnal. Leaves are changing colours, rosehips on roses(everywhere) and still burst of colour from geraniums & verbena.
Have a lovely Friday whatever you get up to.0 -
Morning
Skint - So sorry to hear of your loss, hugs to you and your family
Mhagster - Hugs to your DD, I hope you get it sorted quickly. Girls can be so nasty, we have had similar problems with my DD.
Frith - Enjoy your day at the beach
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. Lunch made by OH, this is a very rare indeed
2. Got started on new project at work and remembered how the computer programme worked (I have not used it for over 2 years) so happy about that.
3. Few reductions in Mr.T now in freezer
4. Arrangements made to go walking on Saturday in Windsor Great Park, hoping it doesn't rain.
5. 2 lots of washing line dried
Phew didn't think I would get to 5 as was DD was being an absolute pain yesterday and if asked anything just proceeded to shout at me, also like this now as typing this. I am trying to hold my temper with her but think we are about to have some serious words. Teenagers can be such a joy
Hugs to all who need them0 -
1. I'm having a good leg day today, very little pain
Rest is obviously the key....
2. NSD, hoorah, at this rate I may make my target for the month!
3. DD's birthday - and I've currently been banished from the lounge whilst she and her 3 chums are watching a film and having fun
4. DD loves all her presents, even being nice about the absolute tat (and that's me being very polite) that her father has sent her....
5. OH is coming over later
6. One of my best friends is also coming later too, she's one of DD's favourite 'aunties' and OH's favourite of my friends. Shaping up to be a great evening
7. DD's going out to a Rainbows disco after her party
8. DD got an award certificate at school today, what a fab day for her!
9. One of my friends popped over for a cup of tea and a natter with her lovely little baby boy who is in to EVERYTHING, I'd forgotten how wriggly crawling babes can be. He's gorgeous and is going to break a lot of hearts when he grows up! If I was 40 years younger.....
10. £45 refund through the post from my solicitor for overpaid fees, yay. It'll come in handy for the building work fund0 -
Evening all.
1) A very, very long lie-in this morning. Mog was a real nuisance all night and only settled at about the time I should have been getting up - instead I went back to sleep and didn't wake up again for several hours.
2) Signed up for a product test of a new kind of frozen pizza.
3) Not at all OS, but certainly a pleasure - I've worked out how to get Sky over the internet, so I can watch my beloved F1. :j (It's definitely not cheap, though, as you'd expect from Sky.)
4) I dropped half a bag of apples on the floor, leaving them too bruised to eat, but I salvaged the non-bruised bits by chopping them up and stewing them with sultanas and spices.
5) A treat dinner tonight of chicken kiev from the local butcher.
Skint - I'm really sorry to hear of your loss.Back after a very long break!0 -
Can't wait for ma curry to be cooked, but while i wait here's my high fives
