6. A good phone call with dad - he was out of bed and in the chair today and managed to get himself back to bed without even using the zimmer.:T Last week he couldn't even stand. His attitude has completely turned round and now he wants to get better and wants to go home.
Fantastic news VJsmumxx

Evening all,
Sparrer - happy anniversary. Hope you enjoyed a lovely cuppa tea and slice of cake to celebrate. I can't believe its your 7 year anniversary. I Definitely remember your 6 year aniiversary and possibly your 5th as well (though I could be misremembering this one). How the time has flown.
SavingforOz - you are clearly a woman after my own (and chicken's) heart with your nap instead of gym!
CCP - thanks for my reverbe in spirit
Well, my offer was turned downI have an deep distrust of estate agents (sorry if that offends anyone...) and so am not sure how to take the feedback on my offer. Apparently there have been 3 other offers, which were all round about the same as my offer. They are going back to all 4 buyers to ask for the final offer. Apparently two are in chains and one other is not, like me. So... what is my best an final offer??? The problem is that I really like the house, and can't really afford much more... anyway, if it is meant to be mine, it will be.
1) Good morning - did some washing up and tidying before heading into work. I got the 9.45am train.
2) Took my own lunch into the office - a lovely tuna salad
3) Caught up with a number of colleagues who I haven't had a chance to chat to in a while
4) My lovely Irish collegue turned 30 today so I took her out for a cocktail... A lovely mexican colleague who lives in Birmingham joined us as well... unfortunately for her after only 3 drinks she was a little worse for wear than I realised and she ended up on a train to Glasgow!!! Oops! Hope she gets home tonight!!
5) Nortoriously tight colleague popped out to buy us some cookies... and they weren't chocolate so i could eat them!!!
Unfortunately we got some sad news this afternoon. A colleague was found dead at home. I would think that he was only in his 30's. We don't know the details but apparently paramedics had been called to the office recently for him and he was taken to hospital looking very ill. Poor chap. I hardly knew him despite working in the same department for at least 2 years. RIP Steve.
On that sad note... sleep well
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

1) enjoyed seminar at lunch time and remembered to take lunch (cold kedgeree yummy)

(((((Hugs))))) to everyone who wants them and :j:j:j Happy Anniversary Sparrer - what an achievement
Am not in a good place at the moment. It feels like three steps forward and six back far too often right now and it was a definite 'one of those days' today culminating with me burning supper and having to bin it - typical.:(
But I know I really need to keep finding five pleasures to get me through this patch
1. I've reached my target of 19 NSDs this month and have increased it again. Assuming no major crises I think we have enough supplies not to need to shop for a bit longer.
2. Managed an emergency dash up to London this afternoon and drove most of it in beautiful sunny weather and some remarkably clear roads, especially towards the end when it was supposedly 'rush hour'.
3. I had my lovely stainless steel water bottle and snacks to hand, and the car had been topped up with fuel this week so I didn't need to spend any money.
4. Got my annual royalties cheque through for photocopies of articles etc. Nice surprise and very timely since it is needed for my scary gas/electric bill that also arrived this morning.
5. Eating two whoopsied organic kiwi fruit that were just the right degree of ripeness, wish I'd bought more now.:D
Sleep well

Broomstick - I think now is the right time for you to hit that emergency tin , with all the goodies in it??? ((hugs)) to you . Btw- you should still be Chancellor
Ladyhawk -I am sorry to hear about your work colleague x It sounds as if you are clearly in a strong position to buy the house to me ??
sparrer - well done on your anniversary xx:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Sorry to hear your news Ladyhawk, RIP Steve x
Hugs Broomstick and well done on your NSD haul! Mine has stopped dead, one before target......grrr0 -
Hello from Hotsville! 38o is just too warm for me! I should start a thread 'Have you got your air con on yet?' (and yes I have!)
1.very long chat with friend from home....over 2 hours. We usually have a 1 hour blether every week but she had visitors last weekend so we had double to catch up on....a lovely way to start my day!
2.Went Op shop shopping! The one at the top of our wee town is always closed when I'm coming home from work ,so had a wander in there: got 2 skirts for me, 3 tops for DS2, a lovely wee crystal jar, a cupcake set for DD2's birthday, a magazine & 2 Shrek Videos. All clothes were 1/2 price (cheap enough to start with, jar was $1,mag & video 50 cents each. So rather chuffed with my haul, then went to another one & got a top in their clearance section for $2.50 which will do me for work. Then later after lunch went to Salvo's & they too had a sale on , all clothing was $3 or 4 for $10. I only bought 1 skirt, which I had seen before but was 1 size too small, checked this one & it was the right size! They are also going to see if there are any curtains for me. Will go back in next weekend.
3.We all went out for some lunch which was very reasonable.
4.had a siesta this afternoon ,it was just too bloomin' hot!
5.made chicken curry for tea, rice was perfect! Ice cream for pudding to cool down.0 -
Ladyhawk I was so sorry to hear about your colleague. Makes one value our own life so much more. My thoughts are going to his family.
Re the house, never say never until the deal is done - will keep everything x'd for you
Making cakes today to take to meeting tomorrow, but I did break all my diet rules and sneak a dollop of chocolate ice cream for pud yesterday
(((Broomstick))) it will get better. Many congrats on finding 5, and breaking your target, I got lost about 14 and forgot to list them so gave up. Today will be a big spend day, taking DGD2 out and that always costs me
VJsmum Thank you. When you pass 'a certain age' it's as well to be positive! What's that expression? 'Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - Shee! What a ride!!!
Back with my 5 later, have a really good day

Feeling really tired today, combination of walking to work and back yesterday due to car breakdown and only have £2 left until payday on wed, (only 20 min brisk walk each way, but first real exercise for 4 wks due to illness) and awake at 5am today, and couldnt get back to sleep
1. Not OS but juggled money around online and found I can cover bill for car repairs
2. Made carrot and apple muffins. Had one whilst still warm with cup of tea for breakfast
3. Lovely warm sunny day. Heating def off !! Washing on line
4. Had a lovely chat and a laugh with DS (16). It doesnt happen often - usually get just a grunt from him as he goes off into black hole that is his bedroom, and re-emerges for food
5. Spent some time tidying garden and decided to try "superscrimpers" tip of salt and boiling water on weeds coming up between cracks in slabs. Will just have to wait and see if it works
