Well done CCP ! Don't knock yourself , surely being consistent shows that you know your subject ;)???. You can floor them all with your stunning exam results in a few months time xx

ETA Ninnoodle - ((hugs)) to you . I hope it all goes well and enjoy your rest x
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
  • Savingforoz - what sad news ;( so sorry xx

CCP- well done, i bet it's a fab mark. My friend is doing an OU course at the mo and I have to keep giving her a gentle kick when she thinks her (v good) marks are not high enough. Having done it myself, I have uber respect for anyone who works and studies at the same time, because it's bloody hard!

Chicken- punch ups :rotfl:You have a way with words

Soooo :withstupid: I just spent a good few minutes hunting for this thread on the greenfingered board. Got down to page 5 before I realised... Doofus!

    Mine for today

    1. Manky ears seem to be clearing up, thanks Chicken!
    2. Got to work to find that some of my marking has been given to our phd students to mark. I probably should have delegated this, but am not very good at delegation as I'm not that much older than them, so it feels a bit wrong! They get paid extra for it tho, so didn't complain!
    3. My fab dad came to help with the horses
    4. Got home to a beady package I'd ordered which included some fab freebies! This resulted in a minor Millie vs superglue incident as I was trying to make rings. OH had banned me from using superglue after the traumatic superglue incident of circa 2002, when I superglued myself to the phone in an attempt to call my dad and ask him how to get superglue off my hand. Definitely not my finest hour!
    5. Trying to save friend a pc-fixy-man call out by conveying how to fix pc from oh to said friend via text. I fear I may have confuzzled them both!

How is it almost Wednesday already? Wise old lady tomorrow. I hope her dentures don't come loose like last time!

Hugs to anyone in need xx

    4) having supper planned and ready to microwave :D
    5) going for walk with OH after supper partly to get my daily 10000 steps and partly to stretch legs -managed to walk past all shops. Determined to get through to saturday on the £23 left in my purse :T

Hugs ninnoodle, hope all goes well for you tomorrow, will be thinking of you x

    1. Took some more bits and pieces to the new house's garage....but I'm feeling very back achy so not sure if I should do much more tonight (any excuse to sit on my backside and watch TV instead of packing...but I think I'm nearly done on the non-precious/needed things ish now).

    2. DD reminded me that we move in a week and a day :)

    3. Good day at work, I think I got more done as I know I may be out of the office for a month or so soon and don't want a temp to see too much mess!! :)

    4. Had a fantastic French lesson at the school I volunteer at, I love these kids, they are all so lovely and brighten up my Tuesdays no end.

    5. Lovely fun time with 10 hyper Rainbows tonight! I don't think they needed the chocolate sauce on their pancakes, but boy did they slather it on and have great sugar rushes.

    6. Another 'first' - I walked down the scary stairs at work today, again without holding on to the banister!! I took it slowly and really hope that this progress is going to continue and once I've had my little op, I'll just get better and better and maybe even be able to bend properly or run one day. My Chinese doctor thinks its very possible, the NHS less so.....

    7. A few YS goodies in MrT today.

    8. DD helped me pack up all our spices and cake making bits.

    9. Persuaded her that lunch with new church friends on Sunday would be a good idea rather than something else she's keen to do, but I'm not.

    10. Sorted out post redirection, council tax move and hopefully garden waste bin situation for the new house! Still got lots of people to notify but I think the most vital ones are done now. Oh no, forgot the TV licence, will hopefully get round to that tomorrow.
  • 1. Am ashamed to say have been feeing miserable and sorry for myself today, but after coming on here and reading of other peoples loss, misfortune and sad news I realise I don't really have anything to moan about :o

    2. Virginmedia came and installed tivo and new box in ds bedoom. They made a bit of a mess of the walls but did hoover up, and I suppose that was to be expected because plaster is shot and only held on with wallpaper ;) Also where they drilled outer wall the front of part of the brickwork has come off. Not disaster but doesnt look too great. Still, I consulted the oracle (dad) and he can rebuild house ;) ...internal walls anyway ...and I suppose DS pleasure at having tv in his bedrom outweighs the negatives :)

    3. Lovely HM tandoori chicken thighs for tea with wedges and salad

    4. Logged onto virginmedia account and nearly had a heart attack when I saw bill for over £80 !!! Got straight on phone in a blind panic and got a lovely guy who confirmed they had forgotten to deduct the £50 discount. Phew, panic over:D

    5. Am just gonna watch last nights Whitechapel and then have a bath and an early night.

    Best wishes to all x

ninnoodle - thanks for the recipe - that's into my 'to be tried' file - and best of luck for tomorrow.

Skint - as Kittikins said, we all have low days and they're nothing to be ashamed of. Hope you feel brighter tomorrow.

I'm really bad at that, too - I rarely think the mark I've got is as good as I could have got. :o

Chickenopolis - sadly my exam marks are unlikely to be amazing - I never get particularly good marks for exams. I just keep having to remind myself that it doesn't actually matter - I'm only doing this course for interest and the marks don't count for anything. I might get that through to myself by the end of the course!

Right, I must turn off the computer and go and pack up my chilli for tomorrow's lunch. :)
Back after a very long break!
  • Hi, everyone, thanks for your kind comments.

Had a good day, so here are my pleasures:

    1. Going to see "The Woman In Black" with a friend. Of course, I didn't jump at all in the scary bits...:p

    2. Long chatty phone call with a friend this morning.

    3. My brother dropping in unexpectedly.

    4. Visiting the friend who I did some work for and then quit because he was so difficult - everything seems fine between us, which is what I want.

    5. Yummy lasagne, made yesterday - there's loads more in the freezer.

    6. Email from my friend who has been reading the novel that I wrote - her comment was that it is brilliant - something that gladdens a writer's heart! Now she is the no nonsense type and I deliberately didn't ask anyone to read it who I thought would flatter me for the sake of our friendship, so her remark makes me very happy. She says she has some constructive feedback which she'll give in person when we meet up soon.

    7. Carrying on with my OU psychology course. Really interesting, but I take a lot of it with a pinch of salt.

    8. Getting a favourable email about an old short story I wrote ages ago that I put on the Internet.

    9. More thick and warming homemade soup and bread for lunch.

    10. Continuing to remember the happy times I enjoyed with my friend. There is a Facebook memorial page set up for her and the tributes are pouring in.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

    Evening all

Skint - hope tomorrow looks brighter for you.
Saving for Oz - sorry to hear about your friend. May she rest in peace.
Kittikins - congratulations on your walking progress

    Another busy, busy day today

    1) Managed to get a £40 refund on my alloys after one of them was scratched. As I am likely to scratch them the next time I drive the car I am not too bothered.

    2) Am baking a rather lovely Blueberry cake.... or rather 3 of them as the recipe was rather on the large side!

    3) Annoying conference call this morning. Made slightly more bearable by my boss muting the conference call phone and making amusing comments about the other participants who were being quite... special.

    4) Chat with my mum

    5) Kitty has crawled on to my knee for some cuddles. Clearly he has not worked out that he is going to the V-E-T tomorrow for some x-rays.

    Night

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Ninnoodle, good luck for tomorrow.

    Five for Tuesday:

    1. Gave myself an hour of wandering round our nearest big town this afternoon just looking in some of the really nice specialist shops there. I don't think I've done this since before Christmas. I deliberately left all cash in the car so I only could look! It felt like such a treat just to wander and actually I didn't really feel pulled to spend anything.:D

    2. I've helped DS1 get his latest job application done and he's sent it in. It reads well. Keeping my fingers crossed.:D

    3. Good packed lunch/drinks and another NSD.:D

    4. A lovely looking veg box -things were glistening when I opened it.:D

    5. Reading through a section of one of my old writer's notebooks that will feed some lovely stuff into something I'm working on at the moment. I'd forgotten the writing was there.:D

    Sweet dreams
