savingforoz: sad news about your friend, remember the good times, the laughter & shared moments of friendship.

1.Work was exceptionally busy, one permanent member off sick today but the new staff all stepped up to the mark.
2.Pay day! I do like getting paid fortnightly!
3.Home, then quick out to next town to buy some deep photo frames for my living room wall. There are lots of existing hooks on walls (we are not allowed to put new ones up) so I'm putting nice photos in these frames. I bought 4 on Sunday & filled them with snowy photos from our last winter before we moved! So might do sunny photos in these new ones.
4.Making steak pie, roast potatoes & roast parsnips ,cabbage & carrots, all RTC
5.Will make pancakes after......have bought scooshy cream, mashmallows & maltesers to very decadently top them....then no cakes, chocolate, crisps for me from tomorrow for lent.

    Have a lovely Pancake Day!

Savingforoz - I am very sorry to hear about your friend.

Here are my 5 for yesterday. I always have trouble remembering them the next day!

    1) Boys back to school cheerfully.

    2) Went with my brother to pick up my "new" wardrobe from the British Heart Foundation shop.

    3) Went out to town in the afternoon to move money from different bank accounts to pay for my son's school trip to France. Had a cup of tea in a lovely cafe while I was out and looked around the charity shops but didn't see anything to suit.

    4) Got back, tidied up, lit the fire and got organised.

    5) OH came round. :-)

    6) Smaller son had a good day (according to his behaviour book) and is very pleased to have been put in charge of the laptops at school! This morning he woke up and had dreamed about it. School had brand new, slim line laptops and most were black (he was handing them out in the dream) but there was a white one that he gave to his friend Sam and he got to have the only red one. :-D

He hasn't been the biggest fan of his teacher recently (the autism team are going in to school to help them cope with him better) but he is very chuffed about being laptop monitor and she noticed a couple of funny marks on the front of his behaviour books which is where our kitten walked across it so they had a bit of a chat about cats. :-)

Going to try for 5 for today before boys and OH get here.

    1) Bit of a lie in.

    2) Went to the dentist's this morning. Boys very good and we didn't need anything doing. I'm very lucky, tooth-wise. Only 1 filling ever and I'm 36!

    3) Stopped in town for a bit of breakfast after the dentist. Smaller son said "Are we bridling?" He said it several times until bigger son said, "OH! You mean, are we SKIVING" ! LOL

    4) Sorted the new wardrobe out, polished it etc and put the boys clothes in it. Much better than having one single drawer for each of them!

    5) Sitting by the fire now doing very little.

    6) OH coming round later. :-)

Bit of an upset this afternoon, though. I went across to the village to the butcher's and a man fell up the pavement outside the village shop, straight on his face. I ran over (and another man came out of the shop) and it was a man who lives locally who has gone senile, who had gone looking for his wife. :-( He had bashed himself about and split his chin and the other man and I took an arm each to pull him up (half of him was in the main road!) and he was so light I could probably have carried him home myself. :-( Then his wife ran over (she had only gone outside to put the bins out) and he went back home.

Saving for oz - so sorry about your friend. It was no age.

Millie - terrible for your village and i'm sure "invasion by media" isn't helping. The coach company in question comes from my town and there are still loads of them on the road. My kids' school trips are always with them. DS is flying to his skiing holiday for which I am grateful.

    For yesterday

    1. Got quite a bit done in the morning - including some additional jobs like bleaching grout and high level dusting
    2. Went to a different town with friend for shopping and lunch - made a change
    3. FOund a pierre cardin tie in a charity shop for £4, looked brand new
    4. We have rented an apartment in Paris for a few days at Easter. Much cheaper than an equivalent quality hotel in the same location and we will be able to do some meals there too.
    5. OH cooked up left overs from Sunday for tea in a jambalya thingy - yummy

    And today

    1. Nice walk to station in reasonably warm bright weather (although feet cut to shreds on way home due to stupid boots)
    2. Good teaching session - I just wish the rest of my job was as enjoyable as the actual teaching.
    3. Left over, left overs for lunch
    4. Loads of YS in mr M on way home - cream, chicken breasts, egg fried rice, radishes, bread, loads of bananas for 9p to make banana bread, tea cakes
    5. GOing to sit and watch the brits tonight with the kids.

    Have a good evening all
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Good evening all !

frith -poor man , how distressing for all x

VJsmum - a nice Easter break . I think you need one , your year has been a bit full on so far with your Dads health x

millie -I hope that you are feeling better today ? Gem sounds back on form.

    5 today

    1. Watched "Wanted Down Under " this morning and blow me if it wasn't an ex neighbour and childhood friend of mine. It was so funny as I know that she swears like a trooper and being on tv had turned her into Hyacinth Bucket ( pronounced Bouquet my dear). I hope that whatever she decides to do makes her happy.

    2. Went in to town with OH and used my Christmas vouchers on some Clinique stuff and it was also "bonus time" so got some freebies which I will donate to my niece or her Mum.

    3. Used a £10 voucher in Boots that I received for doing a survey and "my" hair product was on offer , so got a few .

    4. Not so many punch ups between my hens and my "guest" hens today .

    5. Pancakes made by OH with a dash of vanilla extract in the batter - yum !

Have a good evening all !

    Evening all.

savingforoz - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. :(

    Mine for today:

    1) Really nice porridge for breakfast this morning, with the last little bit of damson jam that I didn't have a better use for.

    2) Finally got the results of my medical test: it didn't show anything so the doctor wants me to have another test, just to make sure. I guess that's a pleasure of a sort - better than them finding something seriously wrong, anyway.

    3) Hearing a song thrush singing in my garden.

    4) Made a big pan of veg chilli with some soya mince from AF - I haven't used it before and it's not bad at all. Some is now cooking as burritos, made with tortillas also from AF, and the rest will do me for lunches for the rest of the week.

    5) Got my latest OU essay back, and it's not a bad mark. (OK, it's a very good mark, but it's the same as I got for the last one so I would have preferred an improvement. :o)

Have a pleasant, pancake-filled evening, all. (I don't know if I'll make any pancakes tonight, having a big pan of chilli on the go - maybe tomorrow. :D)
Back after a very long break!

    :rotfl:

    Mine for yesterday & today:

    1. Postie brought me a full sized box of immunity chewable vitamins. This is great as I have had that nasty chest infection and am going into hospital tomorrow for an operation so my immunity will be up the creek.

    2. Am so delighted with my charity shop curtains from Saturday. They are like-new, Laura Ashley ready-made and I got them for a fiver, and they are *perfect* in our bedroom :) Perfect colour and size - the old curtains were from the previous owners and were so dated and shabby. These make the room look so fresh and clean. I can't stop pinching myself. Ah, it's the little things!

    3. After watching Superscrimpers last night (very poor episode I thought, apart from the furniture) I got inspired to paint all our tired old furniture instead of buying new cheap stuff. I got a lovely wooden sideboard off Freecycle and plan to paint that first before OH will let me loose with the brush :D

    4. OH and I went out for lunch today (I was supposed to be going for a walk with a friend but she was ill, and we were supposed to be going out for tea tonight as I was away tomorrow but decided lunch would be nicer and cheaper). We went to the local garden centre where I had a voucher for a free bag of cat food. Again, delighted. I love a bargain me :D The thrill I get is abnormal I'm sure!! I get it from my mum!

    5. I am now on holiday for a week :T Although it's more for hospital and recovery, it is a nice feeling. My op is part of trying for a baby - it will give IVF a better chance of working. Can't say I'm relishing it, but a couple of days in bed with my kindle I am! :D

CCP - I got the recipe from this brilliant book 'Long nights and Log Fires' - full of comfort food for winter. Every recipe we've made from it has been amazing. I googled for a link and found it here (although OH made the harissa himself) It is beeauuutiful!
