good evening, just in from a meeting for DS's final year at school.....my head is bursting with all the information, a very different system to the familiar one from home.

    1.Good day at work.
2.Stunning sunrise on way to work.
3.DD2 away to camp for 3 days, a great opportunity she wouldn't have had back home.(it's very quiet without her though!)
4.Yummy grapes.....would much rather have yummy chocolate though.
5.DS is just making me a cheese & onion toastie for a very late tea.
  • Going to see "The Woman In Black" with a friend. Of course, I didn't jump at all in the scary bits...:p

Oooh, was it good? We were meant to be going last night, but postponed it, due to my funny ears!!

I started a psychology degree with the OU but never finished it, which I now regret!!

Savingforoz so sorry to hear about your friend, it's difficult to understand when a person is so young. Congrats on the house offer, hope all goes through with no worries
Ladyhawk poor kitty. Fingers crossed she'll forgive you this time :)
Mhags it's good to hear you sounding much more settled, especially noted when you said 'my house' :D
ninnoodle hoping all goes well and you get a successful result :)

Been a bit chaotic the past couple of days - guarantee next week will be too quiet - so my 5 or so to cover absence

    1. Postie brought me a large trial size moisturiser
    2. She also brought me a milk bottle decorating kit (extra little stocking filler for a grandchild)
    3. Grateful for the computer so I can catch up on programmes I'm missing in the evenings (out every evening except Thurs this week)
    4. Saved £1.60p by buying petrol locally and not going to Mr S for the nectar points. The cash is more important these days
    5. Installed a VoIP programme and it works! Only been trying for three years and it just wouldn't install for me - until now. Should save some pennies on calls and allow me to speak to friends abroad
    6. Was given a string of 100 tiny blue lights for the garden by a very kind freecycler. Should look pretty when both next door sides have their candle and solar lights on in the Summer evenings (and can use these at C'mas too)
    7. Freecycled some cassettes. Put them on rather than throw them away and they were snapped up.
    8. The freecycler who collected the cassettes gave me a tip for the odd one or two I still have, to use the tape for ties in the garden as it's stretchy and blends in with the 'colour scheme'. Why didn't I think of that before?!
    9. Sorted out some clothes for DGD2 to recycle into cushions for her textiles class
    10. Postie has just brought notification that I'll be getting cold weather payments for the two minus 0c weeks. Thank goodness, I don't like being cold but 'tis a concern. Hate opening the envelope when it comes so this will be a great help
    11. At risk of being repetitive (it's an age thing ;)) am very grateful for NHS, my repeats would cost over £50 a month. (thanks to all the tax payers too, of which I was one for 40 years so like to think it's a 2-way help thing)

Enough for now, must go and hang all the curtains which I was supposed to do 2 days ago!

Enjoy the rest of the day
    S :)

I too will when I do my 5 for the day later. I know deep down I am very grateful for the NHS but at the moment the 'freeze' is wearing off on my tongue which donated a 'small' section in a biopsy this morning and now sports 2 stitches. Ow ow ow. :(

Early 5 from me today (marking procrastination, again!!)

    1. Woke up v early, cuddles with OH, then got up early, made soup for OH to take to work (pea and the rest of the ham that the GSD is now refusing to eat because ham = you are trying to poison me with nasty tablets. Numpty)
    2. V good therapy session- we covered a lot, I learned a lot more about myself and she helped my put a different perspecitive on things
    3. Nice chat with fellow lecturer and colleague's hubby over lunch
    4. Little trip to M&S, got some RTC bits and some wasabi peas (addicted) and wine (not RTC). Paid with vouchers!!
    5. Trip to Mr Fruit and Veg at work- it's a market stall and they have lots of cheap stuff, I ought to go more often. Bought some bargain fruit for myself and for mum

Just got home, am chilling and watching Scooby Doo (as one does when one is trying to pretend one doesn't have a marking pile the size of a small county *lalalalala*)

Hugs to anyone in need xx

Ouch, Dundeedoll, hope you get better soon.

Here are my 5 or so for today so far.

    1) Boys off to school fairly happily.

    2) Did the charity shops. There must be at least 10 in our nearest town now. Didn't find anything til the last shop then got some jeans (£2) and a rather smart white blouse (French Connection) for £4!

    3) Popped in to B and Q for some dowel to make a new rail for the "new" wardrobe and bumped into a friend of my mum's. (They play their accordians for a Morris group).

    4) Went to Sainsburys so all stocked up now.

    5) Had a good long chat with one of my friends on the phone. She has to go into hospital for treatment next week, could be serious but hope they have caught it early.

    6) Boys are playing outside with neighbour's son5. Still waiting for that heatwave!

    7) Texts from OH and he'll be here after he finishes work. :-)

    8) Tasty tea planned. Gammon in the oven and will have with roast potatoes, carrots and green beans.

    Evening all,

Sparrer - thanks for your support re Kitty

Sheeeeesh it has been an expensive day. Hopefully my car is fixed though. The cat was x rayed and had blood tests but unfortunately they have no idea what the problem is with him and why the base of his spine/top of his tail.

    1) Took the blueberry cake into work and it got rave reviews even though I thought it was a little dry

    2) Think I have possibly got my finances sorted for my new house. Yeeeha!

    3) Driving to work/ home in daylight.

    4) My engine warning light on my car has been extinguished (new fuel filter installed)

    5) Caught up with a lovely colleague. She has a new boyfriend and wanted to tell me all about him.

    Night

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
