  • Thanks, everyone. She is my first "own" dog- I swore that, if practical, as soon as I had my own house, I would have a dog and she came along just after we bought our first house 8 years ago. She was 2, had been through the mill rather and was crying out for some love. She definitely chose me; I didn't *do* German shepherds, echos of my mother's warning that "Alsatians are viscious and they bite and, and". The day we met, she came bounding up to me (I almost pooped my pants) and put her head on my knee. This was odd as she didn't *do* humans, due to being so poorly treated (locked in a cupboard, kicked, horrid stuff). Once I had realised that she wasn't going to eat me, I softened..and fell in love...and that was that, so yes, she chose me, I guess

So she is more than a bit special :D

:grouphug: to all you lovely bods.
Another Monday survived. Totally forgot about meeting at 1pm so didn't get away for lunch till 3:30 (as had another meeting at 2). Fortunately had my emergency Lidl cereal bar so didn't have to spend £1 on sweeties to see me through. Have replaced emergency Lidl cereal bar  So today's 5 are:
    1) Made toast in lovely new red toaster
    2) Ordered son's birthday pressie online
    3) Made scrummy tomato and lentil soup using beef stock from yesterday
    4) Supper - jackets in microwave then finished in oven alongside son's DIY pizza with leftovers from yesterday - I feel so organised :T
    5) NSD

    Evening All,

Millie - glad that Gem is improving and that you didn't have to say goodbye today.

    1) Decided to set my alarm a little later this morning. We had a big monthly meeting which I had to attend in London. I couldn't face travelling on public transport at rush hour feeling ill so i look the final peak time train. So pleasure 1 was travelling on uncrowded trains!

    2) Came home after the meeting and worked from home this afternoon

    3) My cat has been acting very oddly. He's been hiding and the base of his tail seems to be very tender. So I took him to the vet this afternoon and he got a anti inflamatory, antibiotic and pain killing injection. When we got home he was very sulky with me and wouldn't let me near him. But in the last 15 minutes has been exceptionally affectionate. Strange creature. Anyway... we have another appointment with the vet on thursday to see how his tail is.

    4) Did all the washing up that I have felt too ill to deal with over the past 4 days.

    5) I feel well!!! :j

    Night night

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    5. Have spent the afternoon baking... apple and carrot muffins are a success :j but the mixture was really dry and claggy...is it meant to be like that ninnoodle ? Anyway I added a bit more oil and that seemed to do trick. They taste yummy, have only just come out of oven but couldnt wait for them to cool down :o

Hmm, no it wasn't claggy for me - it was on the oily side in fact! They were lovely and moist when they were turned out though, but next time I think I will add slightly less oil. Anyway, glad you liked them :)

Millie - Gem is gorgeous! What a beautiful coat! Love how she found you :)

    My pleasures from yesterday:

    1. Freebie toothpaste in the post

    2. Drove to nearby village to drop off OH's trousers to get taken up. (Not very OS but I wouldn't trust his good trousers to my sewing skills!) The main reason really was so I could have a wee peek in the CS there but it is closed on Mondays :( However was walking past a hairdressers and nipped in for a trim. Got quite a good cut (am trying to find a decent but cheap hairdressers) but thought it was quite dear and didn't like how the hairdresser criticised my hair constantly (tsk, do you straighten it? No. Do you blowdry it? Rarely. Oh....pause...what shampoo do you use? Palmolive. Ahh - tsk...*shakes head*...it's that then. How about buying some of our overpriced shampoo that will make it better? How about you stop making me feel like an old hag with witchy hair! (ETA I didn't actually say this, just thought it ;))) Sigh. So I'm still on the lookout...

    3. Managed a small run. Not really a pleasure in itself as the weather was vile but good that I'm on my way back to full fitness

    4. Nice emails from a friend on FB

    5. Nice relaxing evening with a log fire, glass of wine and a good book

  • Hey everyone, happy valentines day

    my 5 for today:

    1. :heart2:Had to fight my way to front door through pile of valentines cards

    2. :heart2: Had a huge bouquet of red roses arrive from "secret admirer"

    3. :heart2: Had 3 invitations out to dinner............

then I woke up :D Oh well, a girl can dream...

    my actual 5....

    1. DS (16yo) went to gym so had a peaceful morning pottering around tidying and housework, without the constant "what can I eat"

    2. Had cup of tea and one of my carrot and apple muffins (thanks again ninnoodle :D )

    3. Took DS for eye test and field of vision test. He wants to learn to drive after his 17 birthday which is fast approaching. Hes been blind in one eye since age 3, but good news is there is no further deterioration in his sight and he does not need to inform DVLA :)

    4. Took DS to Harvester to celebrate good news re eye test. However they were really busy and food was not great. I had steak and chicken combo, but steak was well done not med rare and 1 piece of chicken was slightly undercooked. DS had ribs which were really dry. Apart from the undercooked chicken (which was not bloody) the rest was edible so we complained at end and got 2 free desserts. I hadnt intended to have dessert (£3.79 each !!!!!) but as it was free we had one each ..... cadbury choc ice cream sundae...feel bit sick now :D but it was yum

    5. My ebay parcel still hasnt arrived. Checked with neighbours and sorting office and no sign. Informed seller yesterday, and he has refunded me in full today. Was worried in case he didnt believe me but no problem, so he has saved me a lot of anxiety as I will not be stressing waiting for refund

Hope you all have a lovely valentines day x
