Here are my 5 for yesterday:

    1. Another beautiful sunny day with no wind so me and OH decided to go for a walk in the Cairngorms. It was breathtaking - walked close to a big loch and because there was no wind, the surrounding mountains were a perfect mirror image in the loch. Saw a big herd of red deer with some stags too!

    2. We sat at the summit of a hill overlooking Queen Victoria's former "bothy" (actually a gigantic mansion) across the loch, eating hm muffins (the carrot and apple ones nom nom), chocolate and a flask of tea

    3. Stopped for cheap chips on the way home and sat in the car eating them, watching the beautiful orange and rosy sunset

    4. Came home and spent the rest of the evening ebaying (free listing weekend).

    5. Lots of interest already in some of the items I listed

    Wow, I want your Sunday!
I wanna be in the room where it happens

  • This is a tayto  :D

Oh wow! Just in time for valentines day. I've got a phallic shaped carrot if you'd like to swap?
  • Afternoon all!! I will be back later, but just wanted to pop in with some news re Gem:

We went to the vets this am, to talk thru the blood results and the options and I had a look at the results myself. It is a complete mystery as they point towards something happening in the liver, but clinically she is getting better each day and that it what doesn't make sense, as if it were a tumour, she would be getting worse. Her neutrophils and monocytes are raised, which suggets some sort of inflammation and her serum bilirubin is also raised, which points to some problem with her bile duct. There are a few other raised serum markers which don't quite fit

Sooooo, vets have decided to hammer it with anti-inflammatories and antibiotics, working on the hypothesis that it might be an inflammation of the bile duct/gall bladder of some sort of infectious origin and to re-assess in a week or so.

The outlook is blurry, but is far brighter than it was last week. The vet did comment that she was a different dog from Thursday, when we thought we were losing her amd she is! We took her to play at the yard on the way home from the vets and she was back to pinching the horses' carrots!!

I swear that one of my animals will be the death of me- feels like I've spent the whole week on an emotional rollercoaster!

Thanks again x millions for all of your support and hugs, from me and Gem xx (if I weren't such a technophobe, I would post a pic of her)

I hope to pop back later with some pleasures xx

    3. its staying lighter a bit later now and my fairy lights are twinkling away here in the sitting room.

    5. Groomed the horses today and they were good boys.
  • Ninoodle: That sounds like a wonderful sunday

1.It was a continual fight with technology today, but I really enjoyed being at work
2.Home to painkillers served with a lovely tea cooked by DH.
    3. Painkillers kicking in.
4.Timesheets all signed off so at some point there will be a first pay in 6 months!
    5. I caved to a snack at work, I was so hungry and the snack machine wouldn’t take my money I deemed it was a sign that I should be healthy, or is that hungry so didn’t have it.
  • Mille: Thanks for the update and that is such a great update, what a tentative sigh of relief I have everything crossed for Gem.

    Evening all.

Millie - that's great news about Gem. :)

ampersand - have a terrific, safe journey.

    1) It's much warmer today than it has been, which means I haven't had a nosebleed all day. (Something that I always get in very cold weather, sadly.)

    2) Having broken another of my favourite mugs over the weekend (), I decided I needed some new ones, and found some in the M&S sale today. Being M&S they're not cheap even at sale price, but they're pretty and quite practical as they stack to take up less room in the cupboard.

    3) Nice dinner tonight of LO roast pork in RTC plum sauce, with AF rice and RTC chicken wontons. :money:

    4) And a glass of wine to drink with it, left over from Saturday's pizza feast.

    5) Knowing I can have a bit of a lie-in in the morning as I've got a doctor's appointment before work. :)

    Have a good evening, all.
Back after a very long break!
  • Hi all, hope you've had a good day. my 5 for today:

    1. Another lie in. After 3 weeks sick and now half term its going to kill me getting up for work next week

    2. dry and breezy so got bedding washed and dried on line outside

    3. Closed a dormant bank account and found there was £6.95 still in it.....every little helps :D

    4. Warm enough to turn heating off. Its positively mild here in the south

    5. Have spent the afternoon baking... apple and carrot muffins are a success :j but the mixture was really dry and claggy...is it meant to be like that ninnoodle ? Anyway I added a bit more oil and that seemed to do trick. They taste yummy, have only just come out of oven but couldnt wait for them to cool down :o

Banana loaf not such a success. One made in sandwich cake tin looks fine but one in rectangular cake tin has sunk and looks really greasy :( not sure where gone wrong there..
