Hugs to Millie and CCP - and anyone else in need.
For today
1. A lazy morning including a lovely soak in the bath
2. Baked banana bread - yummy
3. Tasted the microwave jam I made yesterday - it is perfect and sooooo easy.
4. Went to the pictures with the kids to watch the muppets. Stupid fun - quote "I don't want to go to a shopping centre cos when you've seen one you've seen em all" (a mall - geddit):rotfl:
5. Yummy roast beef and all the trimmings cooked by OH - a whole dinner is left over so has been plated up ready for the freezer.
Half term this week, and I'm not working tomorrow :T. A bit of a lie in I think.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Millie as someone who left their pets behind when we emigrated here ( all be it in the very capable hands of mother & sister so still get regular updates & photos) and who has said goodbye to 2 cats & 1 dog at the vets over the years, I appreciate what you are going through & anticipating. But at least as a responsible owner you can ensure that Gem won't be in pain & discomfort & that your vet will offer the right advice. They very much are part of your family & as such it's hard to say goodbye or in your case to think about saying it, so hugs to you for your decisions you will be making.
Anyway, I'm now on Monday, starting work far too early this morning so up 'bright(ish!) and early:
Sunday pleasures were:
1.Pottering about my new home, which I love & am so happy in; did yet more ironing, (sadly ampersand no bright red breeks to hang on my line, but plenty of school uniforms, towels, teatowels, work clothes etc.....just keep an eye out of the plane window an hour out of Sydney!!).
I probably sound like an ironing freak when I post but I'm actually not the best ironer in the world but hate a huge pile, so like to keep on top of washing & ironing everyday. If I miss a day ,with the 5 of us it fairly mounts up!
2.Made ,for the first time, Red Velvet cupcakes, which were rather nice, took some 'arty' photographs of them (I like to do food photography) which look rather good.
3.caught up on a pile of paperwork, kids back at school a week & already a pile of forms to be filled out for various things....crossed them off my to do list!
4.Dropped DD2 at a friends & went to next town with DD1. We went to huge charity shop, picked up 2 school dresses for her for $4.99 each (they are $68 new!), a wee wash & they'll do fine as spares! Got 2 lovely red frames, for my red velvet photos! and a pair of shorts for me for work, then at till DD1 was asked if she had a student card, yes! so we got a further 20% off.
5.Had a gammon joint for dinner, this had been RTC & in freezer from before Christmas, enough left over for a couple of quiches & some soup I think!
6. Made a lasagne for Mondays dinner, finished a book I started on Saturday & generally had a nice relaxing day!
Enjoy what's left of your weekend.....I'm about to start the new week (fingers crossed it's better than last at work!)0 -
Aw Millie I know what you mean, we trust our vet implicitly and a year or so ago we were in the position where we asked her what would you do operate or PTS and she said she would try, so we did opt and she's still here. But at other times we have taken an animal along thinking it would be fine and have been told it's a PTS. I hope the vet is able to help.
Yesterday was a lazy day pondering doing odds and sods but nothing in particular.
1. Woke up at about 9 but just laid in bed for another couple of hours
2. Put slob clothes on for lounging about the house, made breakfast and took some painkillers.
3. Did some general stuff like a couple of loads of washing and drying, tidying up the kitchen, and sorting some paperwork out before sitting on the sofa in a heap!
4. About my only movement was getting up to make a quick batch of coffee and walnut cupcakes, and a big cuppa of course.
5. Slowly making a scary list of things we have to sort for ourselves as we haven’t been able to afford, both DH and I are desperate for new glasses, and DH needs to visit a dentist very soon, we had a lovely private dental practice and it was taken over by a chap who has repeatedly done substandard yet very expensive work, now we are scuppered and will have to look for someone new, may ask neighbours about what dentist they use.
Today
1. It felt a little like we wasted it as we are both poorly we didn’t get up until the afternoon.
2. Made a healthy veggie stew with dumplings
3. Loving watching XMen2
4. Cuddles with Ruffle who is hopefully recovering nicely from her operation.
5. Actually looking forward to work tomorrow, but not the getting up early bit.0 -

:hello::hello: Welcome to new posters. This is a good place to be.
Warm (((hugs))) to all in need who don't mind my germs. I think the bug has got worse - I'm coughing again and have a bit of a temperature (which is what makes the hugs warm:D). So I've been indoors for 99% of the day.
Five quick pleasures for Sunday then:
1. Dropped DS1 off at the coach this morning to go to the airport. He's away for half-term on a sports thing and it was good to hear from him that he's arrived at his destination and everything's fine.
2. Listened to the final episode of Deep Country on iplayer.
3. Another NSD.
4. Getting the mountains of sports kit that was washed yesterday finally dry on airers and put away.
5. Having three big daytime sleeps. This had better do the trick with this bug, or else!
Sleep well,
B x0 -
from being a daily lurker ive decided to jump in at the deep end and post on at least 3 threads a day, this one in particular as it is such a jolly wee thread
My 5 for today are as follows:
1) looking out the window this morning with a cup of coffee and my DD ( 13 months) crawling at my feet and DD sleeping soundly in her crib feeling at peace with the world for 5 mins.
2) making quite a dent in the housework and washing today
3) expensive but beautiful steaks for dinner from the great wee butchers that ive recently discovered thanks to mse
4) enjoying the last of OHs paternity leave before his return to work on saturday
5) yummy bit of carrot cake for after dinner and (so far) resisting to eat the lot0 -
Millie - hope the appt with the vet goes ok. Its a heart breaking decision but I so agree wuth the sentiment of rather a day too soon than a day too late. I had to pts my gorgeous cat about 18 months ago and I have tears streaming down my cheeks now just typing about it... Even though I know it was the right decision. And I am someone who is often referred to as being cold and heartless! Anyway I'll be thinking of you in the morning. Oh and about the therapist... Don't be ashamed about it!
Well, I am still ill... Though thanks Sparrer for the kind wishes.
1) NSD/ NPD
2) Great game of rugby (even if Scotland had a very mad 15 minutes after half time)
3) Lovely kitty cuddles
4) Enjoyed Call the Midwife - what a wonderful series
5) 3 hour "nap" this afternoon... Jealous, Chicken?
Night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening
Millie - Hugs to you
Broomstick & Ladyhawk - Get well now
Pleasures for today,
1. Enjoying a cup of tea with the inlaws. It was their wedding anniversary today so took a plant and a bottle of wine. I came away with a box of teabags and two boxes of oatsosimple.
2. Hearing OH nan is feeling a bit better today, anti-biotics are kicking in and she is kicking off to go home.
3. Lovely family outing for lunch sat overlooking a frozen lake, very pretty. We didn't intend to go out for lunch today bur OH thought we needed it.
4. Little snooze this afternoon
5. Late start getting anything done today but once I started got quite a lot done in a short time - quick pasta bolognaise for dinner, bread machine on, carrot muffins made and prepped the meat and veg to go in the slow cooker in the morning.
Hugs to all who need them and hello to all new posters0 -

Mine for yesterday:
1. Had good (but tough) early morning run through the woods with friends.
2. Went for a coffee after, had a really good laugh
3. Nipped into the charity shop on the way home and came out with a silver drinks tray, 2 champagne saucers, a wee pot and a book by one of my favourite authors.
4. Went and got my 50p carwash at BP. Was delighted, the guy serving was completely charming and gave me the most expensive one
