Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Afternoon all.

I'll get my pleasures in early today as I'll have no internet connection this evening - 'planned maintenance' indeed!

ampersand - thanks for your post of this gentleman's writing - truly wonderful stuff. This

So it stood ninety years on the floor’,

in particular made me smile as I remember my late grandmother singing this to me as a child - in my head the words are in her voice. :)

    1) A lie-in - I just didn't want to get out of my nice warm bed. :o

    2) Not very OS of me, but I broke one of my rules today and turning on the CH during the day - something I usually only do if I'm ill - when I realised I could see my breath when sitting in the warmest spot in the flat. It was worth it for the secondary pleasure of watching mog unfurl from his hunched, shivering posture to a stretched-out-on-the-sofa-asleep one. :)

    3) Finally finished my essay, which was due two weeks ago. I don't think it's particularly good, but then I thought that about the last one and my tutor loved it, so who knows?

    4) I've known for a while that I could do with a new computer chair as my current one's broken and gives me a sore neck if I sit on it for too long, and I realised today that I've got enough vouchers from various survey sites to order a new one from Amaz0n at no cost. :money:

    5) Another not-very-OS, but I'm going to treat myself to a takeaway pizza tonight: I've got vouchers for both main pizza chains and just have to work out which will be the best value. (PH will be cheaper, but their pizzas tend to be a bit greasy and delivery is slow and usually bad-tempered; D's are less grease-drippy and delivery is fast and friendly, but it will be slightly more expensive and I don't like the toppings as much. Hmm.)

Have a nice evening, all, and wrap up warm! (Except mhagster, you lucky, lucky person. ;))
Back after a very long break!
  • Aw CCP I am with you on the pizza, pondering a D's but not as good, we also have a localish kebab pizza place that delivers, I've not had them for long enough I am tempted by one of theirs tonight, but I do tend to put the oven on to heat it properly when it's arrived. Also tempted by a side order hmmm

Sorry I have been awol, I haven't felt like posting much and things aren't looking good for Gem and I think we might lose her and it's breaking my heart. BUT, I promised her when I rescued her (or rather she chose me) 8 years ago that I would love her and care for her and when the time came, she would go to sleep with some dignity. And I will stick to that promise, as much as it tears my heart out. Back to the vets on Monday to discuss her liver probs, will know more then. In the meantime, she is being spoiled rotten with steak and ham and anything else she fancies

But sometimes, out of great sadness, comes great comfort and the opportunity for self growth and this has come in the form of an amazing lady, who I swear was sent to help me through this and some other current v painful stuff. She is old, she is wise, she is simply amazing and she is giving me the strength to carry on.

I can't think in terms of 5 pleasures; I thought I could when I came on here and I thought it would help, but my brain can't quite engage with it. That said, the ponies are all fine and just about tolerating their limited turnout and I treated oldie to a new Eskadron dead sheep headcollar today (horsey peeps will know what I mean). Eskadron dead sheep headcollars are not very OS or MSE, but she is worth it. I may get chucked off our (ex-HOYS level showing) yard for this because it is not brown and it is padded with dead sheep (again horsey showing peeps will know what I mean). But as ponycarer remarked, at least it's not pink!!

Huge hugs to anyone in need, Ampersand, have an amazing time, we will miss you xx

Thank you, lovely x (I am craving takeaway pizza now, have hardly eaten anything this past week! I would go with D, because I like the dippy sauce - just don't make the mistake I did once and order those uber hot chillis on top  and I have an aesbestos mouth!!)

    Evening

Millie - Hugs and gentle strokes for Gem

OH's nan is settled in hospital and doing as well as can be expected but I just can't see how she can go back to her own home ever again. She had got herself into a real mess in the last couple of days and her house which has always been spotless was covered in feaces. We have spent the day scrubbing carpets and every surface that she could reach of the stuff . Needless to say I have muscles aching that I didn't know I had and my nostrils have been assaulted.

anyway some pleasures in all this madness,
    1. Getting up early and getting the weekly shop done and it coming in on budget plus it included an anniversary present and card
    2. Being able to help the inlaws today as there was no way they could have managed on there own
    3. Being able to laugh in the face of adversity because we have laughed today
    4. The power of elbow greese, hot water and dettol how OS is that
    5. A lovely hot cleansing shower when we got home and the washing machine on boil wash.
    6. A lovely glass of red wine, I have earned this one today.
    7. Another house on takeaway pizza today. We went for PH, very nice is was as well.

Hugs to all who need them

Oddly enough, I went with D and did order chillis, but didn't get any. :( I couldn't be bothered to phone up and complain, and I now think may have been a good thing that I didn't get them!

    wow what a cold day
1, using candles i'd made to light the front room
2, going to clumber park in the campervan to meet up with other freezing people and drink hot tea and lots of cheap crisps in the snow and ice ( it was beautiful)
3, hot water bottles are great ( must get some more of the half sized ones)
4, husband cooking tea stir fried left over homemade curry and rice.
5, getting our gas bill a big difference to last winter so much cheaper.
    bek - keep warm
    :j
  • Millie - my thoughts are with you and Gem. I know from experience how heartbreaking it is when your beloved pet becomes ill. I really hope that we will be hearing good news from you soon. Very best wishes.

Millie - hugs - so hope the vet has positive news for you.

    Mine for yesterday:

    1. It was OHs birthday. He loved his presents, I am so glad!

    2. We went out to Prezzos for tea using clubcard vouchers

    3. Went to the cinema, also using said vouchers. Saw The Artist - a film which I really, really enjoyed (oh I love the dog!!!)

    4. Made another batch of apple and carrot muffins as OH liked them so much

    5. Because it was his birthday we went and had a glass of prosecco last night before the cinema. Not OS at all, but if it happened often it wouldn't be nearly as much a treat :)

ETA: no takeaway pizza in this house but having a 99p frozen one! Doesn't sound half as nice as a D's!
