My five for yesterday are
1. DS2 getting through to next round of a competition,
2. DS1 coming home for weekend.
3. Meeting a friend for coffee and having a long chat.0 -
I posted last post without completing it heres the rest of it.
4. Listed a few items on ebay after sorting out my wardrobe.
5. England winning the rugby and it was MS as Italy are now playing in new stadium which I have no wish to go and watch a match in. I loved their old stadium.
6. Watching Harry Potter again - wrapped up in duvet.0 -
Have been lurking and enjoying your thread for a little while - all your lists are so lovely and remind me to pay attention to the simple things in life. And everyone seems incredibly supportive and kind - and we need as much of that as we can get.
Here are my five from yesterday:
1. Wonderful walk in the woods with my OH and old dog - clear crisp freezing day with lots of little robins darting around. We took hot chocolate in thermos cups and some yellow-sticker hot cross buns with jam - both tasted better for being OS.
2. Seeing my old dog do a little running and enjoying herself - she is so old now and may not have much time left.
3. Home made veggie broth for lunch - warmed us up like nothing out of a tin can.
4. Enjoyed reading in the afternoon - have been relying far more on library these days, rather than buying new, and getting a lot of pleasure out of the OS benefits.
5. Tea and biccies on the couch in the evening with OH, blanket over our laps, listening to the radio. Far nicer than blaring TV on all night.
Thanks for all your lovely posts - I'm really enjoying them all and they are so helpful and encouraging. I've begun my own OS journey, and am trying to be far more thrifty than I have in the past, as we try to get MF.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone - and lots of hugs and pats to all the old pets out there.0 -
Morning all
Welcome to the newbies. Pleased you found us, this is really the nicest place in MSE
Ladyhawk I'm so pleased he's returned. I hate that worry when they go walkabout without a word of notice, then turn up all fine and dandy. You don't know whether to be cross or happy but snuggles always win, of course. I think the area you're lookiing at could definitely be better than the current one, good luck in finding your new home
Millie thinking of you and Gem, she's included in my prayers. (I had the most wonderful cat named Gem, short for Gemini, as she was born on 1st June albeit many moons ago).
Dundeedoll thank you. I always think other peoples post are far more exciting than mine! Even if you don't post so often it's nice to know you're still there in the background, so to speak
Broomstick not really a challenge but as I can't go out in this cold I'm enjoying seeing how far I can get. Mind you if it stays cold it should be a pretty cheap month for petrol!
Having said which I'm just going to phone to see if our Sunday lunchtime meet-up is still on as I'm getting cabin fever, so back with my 5 later
Stay warm and stay safe
Hugs S0 -

oops I'm so sorry dundeedoll, I will be more observant re caps/lower case. Of course I remember your interest in my holiday and thank you again for the subject of your pm. I can only put my lack of observation down to being an age thing, or I need to go to Sp4cs@vers!
Right, better make a start.....

Aww, Sparrer, an easy mistake and one that I would make too xx
And welcome to DundeeDoll- what a coincidence!!
Still can't think it terms of 5 pleasures, but I am still here, as is Gem, who has decided that she will eat (providing that it is steak or chicken, slightly warmed, or her manky bacon chews) and will drink, providing that it is on the patio, out of the water butt and only out of her foil container thing. She has never been the easiest of dogs! She has been for walkies today (well in the car, backed up to her fave woods, so she could just jump out and play, without walking on the nasty ice!) She has also been brighter today, having a nosy around the house, kissing the rabbits and she even ventured upstairs for a nosy the first time in a week.
It's breaking my heart, because she is too well at the moment to contemplate saying goodbye, yet I still have in my mind "better a day too soon than a minute too late". We have an apt at the vets in the morning, so I will know more then. I am dreading it, but at the same time, I need to know the full picture so that I can make an informed decision.
I will "come clean" now- lovely old lady I have been chatting to is actually my therapist; she is old, wise and I have discovered more about myself in the few months I have been seeing her that in the years of therapy I have had previously. As I said to the lovely person :A who has PMd me a couple of times, I wish I could bottle what this amazing lady does and offer it to anyone in distress. Apparently, what I am working with is "anticipatory grief" and (silly me) as a trained therapist myself, I probably ought to have realised this and in my case, it is not *just* about the dog, it is all of the grief over the years that I have failed to process. And that is why it hurts so much, but I have had 4  sessions with her this week (including 2 this weekend and many text messages) and it has really, really helped :A
Sorry, I have prattled on, without offering many pleasures- the pony lovers might giggle about my pushing 30yo 13hh pony dragging Mr Ponycarer to the field this morning so much so that he had to yell for help. Mrs Ponycarer and I just stood and laughed as the whole thing was so ridiculous! Oh and she has managed to get a spot of mud on her Very Expensive Headcollar
Hugs to anyone in need, I will be back on form soon, I promise xx0 -
Evening all.
I'm feeling a bit gloomy this afternoon / evening, but I'm sure I've got some pleasures:
1) Another lie-in this morning, during which I dreamed (rather oddly) about carrot cake.
2) Made a carrot cake. (Well, I had to after that!)
3) Cooking a joint of roast pork with crackling - the smell's driving me and mog mad at the moment!
4) Watching (well, half watching) an episode of Countryfile about the Isle of Wight.
5) Managing to sort out my internet connection, which has been running very slowly - it's still not great, but at least I can watch television over the internet now, which I couldn't this afternoon (I missed a large chunk of the rugby as a result, rather irritatingly).
Hugs to Millie, Gem, and anyone else in need of one.Back after a very long break!0
