sparrer -OH watched Superscrimpers and said "why doesn't that man just mix the salt in with the boiling water and do it (kill the weeds)that way?" .:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0

Bonjour à tout et à tous!
I was back avant-hier[ after at least seven hundred and eighty-three DESPERATE [STRIKE]DAYS[/STRIKE] years- or so it felt - without phone /Teeternet, at worst possible time for me...etc.etc.et-blutty-cetera]]...did HUGE CATCH-UP Note for Absence, only...yes, yes, you grimly KNOW where this is headed....GONE, GONE GONE.
Couldn't bear it, so stamped off to sulk somewhere[couldn't find myself there either]
sparrer - 'Sometimes I want to bang my head on a brick wall '
More to the point: Bang theirs!
Right, don't expect me to stick to [what?]point...does she ever?
1. Restored to virtual world, which is - in odd conundrum - an absolute Real and Actual and essential. Here, to barely touch the grinding angst of hopeless long, RAGING, RANTING phone calls par autre moyen, I am - BACK. Final call with Yassin on Monday, endured from 8.12h to 13.04h - yes, that was 4 hours and 52 minutes, aka 292 minutes continuous...et, ENFIN!!! This was at the worst possible time for me. Couldn't upload 3-day Last Blast fleabay listings at w/e for potential £s>NZ. Loads of timetabled, readying for departure plans also bellied up...I've been up all night now on Skype phone, to try and sort MAJOR ANZ Bank a/c !!!!-up...just everything, everything. Mess, mess and more mess - lost Monday/Tuesday in London, and that now has spin-offs which I can't rattrape...all of which poured out in full stream of consciousness spate to Bank Boy Robyn. We closed with the honeyed promise 'the Bank will, of course, be making a Goodwill gesture', to which I inserted 'SUBSTANTIAL?'....thus, the first of many 'On Verra's.
2. I have felt, coming back, as others in the last day or two re: being able to come here and read, smile, chuckle, even 'Oh No!'. Yes, it does indeed sometimes pile in, full-force. We have this amazing instrument[, we have Martin who brings this site to us, we have a voice, we have The Hug.
Thankyou to so many who have given same to me over several years now.
I've had so many laugh and smile moments over various recent strands - naming Things, 'Tealady's son's 'anarchy' remark, the whole Dickensian glory day, so much more.
3. Yesterday was the most stunning day for Charles' birthday. I liked the rationale of Simon Callow in being @ Portsmouth[popped in for cuppa with CCP sans doute:)], but there's virtual time and space for every sort of imagination and celebration. This lead on to the realisation that this year is going to be full of celebration - Maj.Brenda's 60th, Olympics, Leveson enquiry=Murdoch's>Eternal Purgatory[SO meet, SO right, decades overdue...I have old NZBC memories]
4. A time of great change for me... possibly...on verra...demain? peut-être.
Extraordinary, out of the blue. Qui sait? I keep circling around How utterly unlikely this all is. Truly absurd and yet, Hope springs eternal?[quell it sternly though I may] Again ,how lucky we are to be sentient beings, open to all that constitutes la condition humaine.
5.Judicious using up - thus last 6 lemons, last 9 eggs, another kilo of h/m raspberries curded and jammed respectively. I liked your 'freezer roulette', Millie. I. too, have been playing that one with Interesting Meat[possibly lamb?], UFO/White Lumpies[pescatorial?]...all tasting good. Takes more than that to botulise moi.
pre-5. From Charity, something proposed from on high, out of the blue which I am glad to do. In hand over last days - essentially, establishing ongoing communication with one of our someones, 'away' for the next few years. Offspin thought - the notion that NZ stamps on something rcvd, if we start, might give some needed cachet in that environment.
Hoorah it's 5 again[In an uncertain world, this, at least, does not change:D]
I am lit up, have been for a fortnight or so, for no Sensible reason, but that is the sort I don't do. On verra.
...and another 5. Seen in PO, during long queuing with ebay bundles...hold on[don't want to lose this] I'll come back with it if I can.
.......no, darn it. So, be with me, in Nmkt PO. To our right is the Philately cabinet. Idly scanning contents, I see 'The Age of the Hanoverians' stamps. Label below reads:
House of Handover Presentation Packs £8.05 ...surely also correct:D
yet another 5. Lovely long talk with M in France. 'I'll miss your anniversaire again'..'tsk tsk B'[in a hands on hipsy voice 'Why?' Moi: 'Cos I'm on a plane to enzed, next Monday!'... I don't do Girly, was ever more at ease with un-double-dealing male minds, but I find self telling M. all. She is wise, more than encouraging, positively Commanding me to Go For It and says it's wonderful. Too soon for that...
Wishing everyone an ebullient day - it feels so good to be back here.
Final add-on 5: So much vast and wide-ranging reading in new-to-me fields...on verra;)
Oh sod it - another 5. I, too, am Pedantic Sign corrector - grammar, spelling, nothing's too much trouble for me:-)CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

hello Ampersand nice to see you back!
1.My boy is away to his first ever Australian camp ,with school. He wasn't too keen on going but it's compulsory & more to the point had been paid for! I'm sure he'll be just fine, felt a wee bit emotional waving him off but I'm sure he'll get a lot out of it!
2.Work was okay, bit scunnered at the moment! We need new people trained & able to take over from me before I can go off & do my new job stuff, so must bide my time & have patience.
3.Dry again & not too hot, just fine enough for me. Washing all dried. I walked up to the bank this morning to get cash for son and the scent from the flowers in my garden was just lovely!
4.Home & had a sit down & blether with DD1, then DD2 started freaking about an immunisation letter she had brought home, she was rather hysterical, so I went up to her room to attempt to calm her down & had a snooze on her bed instead!
5.We went out for dinner, had the HUGEST portion of lasagne ever! Absolutely stuffed! Nice friendly staff & good value for money.
I managed a NSD yesterday. Have a great Wednesday x0 -

No snow here yet at all! I'm happy though, we've had a string of sunny and bright, crisp and cold daysMillie2008 wrote: »Anyhow, the associated pleasure was that she treated me to a cup of tea and a biccie AND Sainsbury's have corrected their "stationary" aisle sign. That was bugging me- pedant that I am!
This would bug me too! And thank you too for the toast tip - I am gonna try that now!Did learn one thing from Superscrimpers though, about using ordinary salt and boiling water to kill weeds between paving slabs. They're the bane of my life in Summer and it's been costing me a fortune in weedkiller, so something useful to try
Me too! I wonder if it also would work OK on the patch of bark we have at the back of the garden? All it is at the moment is a weed bed!
Mine for yesterday:
1. Another beautiful sunny day with no clouds
2. The cold water went off in the village after some local building work knocked one of the pipes. It was off for half the day - amazing when you realise how dependent we are on running water. The pleasure was it coming back on again and being grateful!
3. Managed to buy some bargains online for my present stash.
4. Got loads done at work today - very productive day. Almost cleared my inbox!
5. Finished the book I was reading.0 -
5 for yesteray (Tuesday) then today's so far...
Yesterday
1) Waking up with OH.
2) Boys to school happily.
3) Got house fairly organised.
4) Went to see my counsellor. I don't feel I remember enough of what we discussed when I leave, though!
5) OH here after he finished work. :-)
Today
1) Waking up with OH.
2) Seeing the child psych (again). Seems he is on the side of the paediatrician (and me) in that school are being useless. There is nothing mentally wrong with smaller son, he just can't do the work at school, gets no proper support, gets very withdrawn then, when put under pressure, swears in frustration then gets kept in at break times... Every single professional I meet can't believe how rubbish school are being.
Anyway, I am talking to the Educational Psych tomorrow who assessed him about 2 weeks ago. The Child Psych is now looking into the autism thing again - they went off that diagnosis for a while.
3) Popped into Sainsburys for brunch.
4) Brother had dropped off a load of logs for me so I stacked those up and put the tarpaulin over them.
5) Very odd pleasure but neighbour (not THAT one!) called me round as there was a "strange dog" in his garden. Turns out it was one of MrN's dogs (THAT neighbour....) So neighbour who didn't dump me for his ex-wife knocked on MrN's door and I carried the dog round (it always was a soft, silly thing). I was able to say "hello" as though I generally carry dogs into his garden of a lunchtime and was very amused to see MrN look bothered/shifty/embarrassed/unable to look me in the eye/unable to say hello. Mind you, my hands and even my knees were shaking by the time I left his garden! I hadn't said a word to him since that fateful evening early last summer. :-(
6) Boys looking forward to a school disco after tea.
7) Looking forward to watching DIY SOS.0 -

Kitchenbunny - We are going to see Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, though not until September.
I wanna go! Stamps foot. But I also want to go to Coldplay, Matt Cardle, Phantom, Ramin Karimloo, Rufus Wainwright and probably a load of other things.
Feel a bit carp - I think it's a combination of cold weather and stress worrying about dad who is still not good and has taken a worrying turn for the worse. I feel so full of stuff I could burst.
So I will endeavour to drag up 5 for yesterday and today
For yesterday
1. Drove to work - not MSE not OS but I don't care cos it was quick and warm
2. My teaching session went well and I overheard one student say to another "I think we learn more in this module than any other"
3. Fairly productive meeting
4. Sat and watched TV with DS for a bit
5. Whoopsied liver and mash for tea - yum
And today
1. Missed my train to an appointment so rang in sick and came home
2. Finally started a batch of marking
3. Had a good itunes session whilst marking - put it on shuffle to see what came up
4. About to have soup, toastie and pud night for tea
5. OH has come home instead of staying out tonight as he has realised that I'm not myself.
Have a good one allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
my 5
1. NSD
2. let a friend know about Approved Foods, she'd not heard of it.
3.tried some Lemon and Ginger tea and liked it.
4. Watching Superscrimpers on catch-up
5. eating [too many] sweeties.0 -
Evening all,
hope you are all toasty warm. i have just got back from two days in Dublin with work where it was decidedly less chilly than here!
I am fairly sleepy tonight so I'll keep this brief
1) 5 NSD's in a row (helped by my being able to claim on expenses while I was away)
2) My first meeting today was at the hotel I was staying at and only started at 11am... so lovely lie in for me, then a leisurely breakfast. Just what I needed after a night on the tiles the previous eveing
3) Coming home to my darling puddy tat.
4) Yummy dinner - cheesy tomato sauce and pasta. A colleague had bought chive philly by mistake so gave it to me to use up, the pasta was expensive... but had been on 50% sale so very cheap... and the tomato sauce was made from onions and tomatoes that I had grown over the summer
5) Early night tonight... I am speaking at a conference tomorrow which I am very nervous about. All the other speakers are very senior like the Global CSR Director for a very well know sports wear brand, and Head of Procurement for one of the big investment banks... to say I am intimidated by them would be an understatement. Anyway suffice to say i need my sleep and I need to make sure that my presentation is finished.
Night night... sleep tight.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
