skintyetagain - that must have been a relief , to realise that it was not a scam.

5 for today
1. OH took me in to work (in my car) as the slush turned to hard ice , no way Jose .
2. Wore my my shortie Hunter Boots which OH got me for Christmas with my pin stripes and people at work asked if I had a pair for each day of the week .
3. Bumped in to an old friend and ex colleague who has been working in the same building as I have for several years and we hadn't bumped into each other at all , not in the lifts ,exits, car park or canteen - weird. It was really nice to see him ,as we were "the same" with each other despite the time lapse.
4. OH had been shopping and so we have pizza for tea.
5. Looking forward to a night in on my own as OH is going out .He will also fill up the car with petrol.
Have a good evening all !
eta- loving all the Charles Dickens bicentenary stuff:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all!! Hope you are all fine and dandy!! Bit of a bummer tonight as OH's car went kaput on the way home and the RAC gave an ETA of +3.5h! So I went out and rescued him and he is going to deal with it in the morning
My five for today
1. Les animaux are all fine and dandy! GSD still a bit off, but way better than she was, wabbit back to causing his usual level of mayhem!! (thankyou for asking Chicken xx)
2. Managed to get oldie out for a leg stretch this afternoon as it had thawed sufficiently. It's impossible to get her to understand that we keep her in on vet advice and for her own wellbeing- it must feel so unfair to be watching the others out of her window and she has never been one to "put up and shut up!"
3. Took the Mothership to Sainsbury's- she is more than capable of taking herself to Sainsbury's, but the last time she went there in the ice, she took out one of the trolley park thingies and left half of side of the car behind. Now, every time we go she warns me to "waaah, watch the trolley park, Millie". I politely remind her that I don't have previous with trolley parks and suggest that she Buttons. It. Anyhow, the associated pleasure was that she treated me to a cup of tea and a biccie AND Sainsbury's have corrected their "stationary" aisle sign. That was bugging me- pedant that I am!
4. Played "freezer roulette" for dinner, so I didn't have to cook
5. Not technically OS and I am not sure I needed another pair, but the knitted Ugg boots that I ordered (ref. thread in Grabbit) arrived. They were only £21!!! I love them alreadyAnd they are MS, because they have "saved" [STRIKE]me[/STRIKE] OH £80 (OH failed to understand this logic). Actually I am not sure that this site saves me any money at all......
...oh and I feel the need to share this with you, but how have I got this far in life without realising that toast tastes better eaten upside down (ie butter side down, not standing on one's head). This makes perfect sense as the butter is in direct contact with the taste receptors on one's tongue. I might write a scientific paper on it! It ought to be worth a Nobel prize at the very least, non?
Hugs to anyone in need xx0 -
Court is over with, a very nervous myself, calmed by lovely DH went to court apparently for administrative purposes, that’s nice now can I have the pay I have lost for the day!
As we had to pay for parking and had no idea how long we would be we meandered into Tunbridge and pondered around the shops window shopping literally, stopped off for a sarnie and hot drink.
Just made Cornish pasty’s they are cooking so we will see how they turn out, I’m dubious.
DH has managed to get some surveys and bits and bobs and they seem to be going ok, it’s enough to cover our weekly shop at the moment and some are quite fun, we are off to test out a hotel oh err in the future.
Came home and err fell asleep, the bug means I am doing a lot of that, Feeling very poorly and desperate to work but moving makes it a lot worse, so may end up off for a day or 2 I hope they are ok with it, they seem ok so far.0 -

I'm not surprised - it must be quite difficult to shop in an aisle that keeps moving.
I've had another lousy day at work - the department admin assistant has decided she can't do something she'd agreed to do for me, so I'm stuck with the job instead, my manager's been deliberately avoiding me after I said I needed to talk to her (I actually just want to tell her I've got a doctor's appointment next week and will be a bit late in one day, but she won't know that unless she talks to me), and my training course was cancelled so I wasn't able to come home early to work on my essay after all. That also put paid to my planned NSD, as I hadn't taken any lunch in to work as it was meant to be provided at the course.
1) My Mr T wine arrived, so I can now cancel my card - I didn't want to do it until I had the wine, just in case there were any problems.
2) I dug out a portion of a disappointing veg casserole I made and jazzed it up with some smoked sausages, which turned it into a rather nice dinner.
3) Mog's in super cuddle mode tonight.
4) Asked my tutor for a short additional extension on my essay, which would give me Friday afternoon (when I finish work a bit earlier) and Saturday morning to get it finished. (Hopefully a pleasure, if he agrees.)
5) Another nice glass of wine later.
Have a nice evening, all.
Oh, and get well now PK!Back after a very long break!0 -
1) finishing another no cost library book
2) eating minestrone soup made from left-overs from yesterday's diy pizza
3) paying for son's band weekend in cash
4) walking to and from band with son (just over a mile each way)
5) finding out how to add my signature from CCP yayMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
25 for 25: 371 / 625
declutter: 173 / 2025
frogs eaten: 100 -
Big germy (((hugs))) to all who are poorly. Big (((hugs))) to anyone else who needs them but I won't breathe germs on you, promise.:D I, too, seem to have gone down with this blinking fluey-cold thing.:(
I can still find five pleasures for today though...
1. A really lovely full (or almost full?) moon on the drive home tonight.
2. Big veggie box order waiting for us on the doorstep, including a jar of black olives that I'd got as a treat.
3. I finished making the soup I'd started last night and made some dippy eggs and toast (for the DSs - not me since I'm still wheat free) and we ate very much earlier than we usually do on a Tuesday night - a vast improvement.
4. Sorted out a ton of cheques and cash that DS1 had to bank for the sports coaching and he got them paid in. The pleasure is just that it was a much needed job ticked off the list.
5. It's not happened yet, but an imminent pleasure is going to be clean pyjamas, a hottie, a hot drink and an early night. I need to shake this bug off before it gets any worse.
Sweet dreams

Evening
Kitchenbunny - We are going to see Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, though not until September.
Broomstick - Get well now
Purple Kitten - Glad today went well and now all sorted for you
Pleasures for today,
1. Headache I had this morning seems to be clearing now
2. Same as Broomstick the full Moon on the way home
3. Picking up DD from school, all the connections worked well so no standing around in the cold.
4. Cheats chicken curry for dinner, still sticking to the meal plan
5. Another piece of OH birthday cake
6. Just noticed I have another star
Hugs to all who need them0 -
1) Went round to a friend's house for coffee after work and finally got to hear the end of an interesting story that I'd been promised last Thursday.
2) Still managing to car share.
3) Dahl and rice for tea, one of the cheapest meals around. Made a crumble afterwards with some plums I bottled last autumn.
4) Managed not to eat a bar of chocolate, thus saving money and feeling smug at the same time.
By the way Broomstick, if you are wheat-free Genius is the best bread-substitute around, especially the seeded one. You could enjoy dippy eggs again.0 -
Hugs and get well now wishes to all the poorlies
CCP I understand completely, I regularly have to drive past a pub/inn which has a massive board on the road advertising accomodation, and I so want to stop and tell them that's not how it's spelled!
Millie thank you for the share re toast, very, umm...informative? :rotfl:
1. Good exercise class this morning with a little treat at the end - one of the group is moving and brough some goodies along, including Celebration choccies. Needed more exercise afterwards to work it off
2. Coffee with DD and arranged lunch out for her birthday tomorrow. Also DS's birthday (though they're 9 years apart, how's that for bad family planning?!) so will have a chat with him on the phone later in the day
3. Called into Mr S, got a voucher for 6p/litre off patrol again, just in time!
4. Am reading a book I borrowed from the library, The Lazy Girl's Guide to the High Life on a Budget. Got to page 106 and haven't learned anything I didn't know via MSE. Did learn one thing from Superscrimpers though, about using ordinary salt and boiling water to kill weeds between paving slabs. They're the bane of my life in Summer and it's been costing me a fortune in weedkiller, so something useful to try
5. Watching Katie: The Science of Seeing Again. What a lovely person she is, puts me to shame with her positive outlook
Sweet dreams
