5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Evening everyone. Bit of a mixed day, GSD picked up this morning, then had a funny turn this afternoon and seemed a bit wobbly and out of it, but I am 90% convinced it's the tramadol that is making her a bit unsteady. The logical bit of me knows that they have ruled out anything acutely horrid (besides, she wouldn't be with us by now if it were) and also that the presentation yesterday kind of rules out anything chronically horrid, as such things tend to have a less sudden onset. I know that tramadol can be poorly tolerated in some humans and some dogs, so I am sticking with this theory until tomorrow. I think I will assess how she is in the morning, leave her off the tramadol and see if that makes a difference. Will call vet too.
She is sleeping now, has been drinking and had a carrot earlier (her fave) and licked some more snow. Does anyone have any experience of dogs on tramadol? The vet did say that it can make them rather woozy and she is on other drugs too, which are likely competing for the same metabolic pathways to be broken down, so more chance of side effects (toxicologist me talking here)
I will try for 5 for today...
1. Ponies are all well (touches wood)
2. Mum made me a swiss roll to cheer me up (stress is an appetite killer for me)
3. I made homemade pea, pesto and parmesan soup (Milliefied version of a Nigella recipe) and stilton and pear pizza for lunch- I couldn't face it, but it was well recieved
4. Snowy walk in the woods with OH earlier for tea/hot chocolate, cake and ice cream (him, nutter!!) Sat for a while watching the kiddies sledging and the dogs running riot
5. I made some cards, just random ones to top up my collection. OH is famous for coming home from work and announcing that it is X's birthday tomorrow
Hugs to anyone in need, sorry to be miserable, hopefully tomorrow will be brighter - bunny is having a GA for his dental work tomorrow, providing his little old heart can take itxx

Hugs to you Millie and welcome to Hakeber. It's always good to 'talk'.
1) Delightful children in Sunday school, although there were only seven of them, and we managed to make frisbees out of cereal packets. I do like making crafty things out of virtually nothing and I was very pleased to hear that one of the boys has 'a big box' at home full of cardboard boxes etc for junk modelling. The old ones are the best.
2) Left over soup for lunch. That chicken did six roast dinner portions, three sets of sandwiches and seven portions of soup. And it was a yellow-sticker one too.
3) Am wearing an old cardigan and a long sleeved top that I found at the bottom of my drawer. They feel new because I haven't seen them for a while.
4) Switched off the central heating and just used the stove whilst the two of us were in.
5) A NSD so far, unless someone invites us to the pub quiz. It's unlikely, as we have four inches of snow here.0 -
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I have just lost a long post where i mentioned everyone... it took me half an hour to write. Basically it can be summerised:
glad the hound is on the mend
sorry that those who wanted snow and didn't get it
sorry that those who didn't want snow did
Well done on all the industrious baking... nom nom nom!
I have a splitting headache
1) NSD
2) NPD
3) Good rugby today
4) afternoon nap
night night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
It's Monday morning here, just me & my laptop are awake, I'm enjoying the peace & quiet as the sun rise & the birds start singing.
Sunday Pleasures:
1.Up early, did a monster ironing & phoned a friend from home & had a good blether.
2.Pottered about my new home.
3.Read a whole book in one day.....just read & read!
4.Made roast beef(RTC), roast potatoes(RTC) and parsnips , & veg for dinner, followed by peach sponge & cream......stuffed so.....
5......snoozed on sofa before dragging myself off to bed!
The air has cleared with a huge downpour of rain & a little bit of thunder. Was very, very windy but such a hot wind which I always find bizarre. So the garden has had a good drink.0 -
Hello Hakeber nice to meet you
Ladyhawk - you sound like you need one of my DD's 'famous masarges' (as she calls them), great for headaches, hope yours goes soon x
Millie - sorry to hear GSD has had a downturn, I'm allergic to tram's myself which is a bind, so hope the vet can find a better drug for him x0 -

Hello Skint yet again, hope posting and a good night's sleep will make you feel chirpy and perky again! I agree that finding pleasures in even miserable days helps a lot with my mental wellbeing0
-
Evening everyone.
Welcome, Skint yet Again and hope you feel better soon.
Welcome Hakeber!
CCP I didn't realise you could cancel the loyalty card at Mr T - I have been tempted after a few things that have happened to us. That beef cobbler sounds lovely
Chicken - your hens sound so cute!
Here's my pleasures for today:
1. Clearing Mappetty of snow. We had 5in here, so it was a case of gloves on and whoosh! It was fun watching it slide down the car.
2. A roast dinner, sat watching a woodpecker in the garden.
3. We had a walk to the local supermarket (ironically Mr T) to get Mr Kitchenbunny some thick socks. I'm not keen on snow but it was nice seeing the trees covered in it.
4. Made some breakfast bars and feel lovely and full.
5. I got a bit of sewing done. In the grand scheme of things I've done a teeny tiny part of it. It all helps though. This is what I'm working on.
Whew, now having a sit down and watching Top Gear, so going to sign off now. Have a good evening, everyone. Take care (((hugs)))

Welcome to the new peeps
Lovely to see new "faces" here.
Final update for tonight- she has just got up and been out for a mooch in the snow with OH, incl some more snow eating! and has had a drink- now back on her bed. She is far less wobbly on her legs now that she has cleared the tramadol, so I will speak to the vet tomorrow about stopping it/trying something else.
Dad is insisting on sleeping down with her tonight, so I can get some sleep- feel bad tho. Colleague is ready to cover for me in work tomorrow in case we need another vet trip in the morning. I am very lucky to have such lovely people in my life, including all of you :A xx0 -
Kitchenbunny I love your car's name, it's sweet and very appropriate. I call mine Kefi because a. her reg is KE51 (yes I know it should be Kesi but it's not
) and b. kefi is Greek for joy
Greenbuzby welcome. Lucky you to have a mechanic for a dad
oldtractor what a lovely idea, having fairy lights on. The dinner sounds yum, love swede, carrot and potato mash
Kittikins it was brave of you to go out in the snow, pleased you made it there and back okay. A friend said he was going to put his snow tyres on his car but they melted...groan!
PK hope your tummy feels better now. It must have been lovely to watch the birds feeding, I can't put anything out as I have two mogs so please throw out a few extra crumbs for me
Tealady the work lunch sounds good, the butternut squash soup will be just right for this weather
CCP I'll back you all the way on that loyalty card. The company has no loyalty to its customers, I refuse to set foot inside their shops. I too have some vouchers which I'll treat DD to a meal with on her b/day next week then that will be the end of them.
hakeber welcome. Well done giving your clothes a new lease of life, a box of dye can work wonders as I found out on some blacks which had faded a bit
Chicken I love that orange/pink glow that snow gives at night, and the silence as it muffles everything. I just don't like the snow!
Millie wishes sent for GSD and bunny. I can't take Tramadol so feel sorry for GSD if that's what's upsetting her. I know what you mean re being a vet, I'd be overrun with animals if I could. I have to be very strict with myself but it's oh, so difficult sometimes!
Patchwork sounds like we could feed an army on one ys chicken between us. Don't you love going through old clothes, especially when you find they still fit!
(((Ladyhawk))) hope your headache has gone when you've had a good sleep
Morning MHags, sounds like everyone's had a good Sunday dinner, with parsnips. My children said it wasn't a proper Sunday dinner without them. Have to admit I agree
Skint yet Again welcome, hope you feel better now. If you get into the habit of posting your pleasures it really does brighten the day
1. Woke to a soft white world. I may not like it but have to admit it looked pretty from the warmth of my bedroom
2. The warmth of my bedroom - putting into practise all I learn on these pages allows me to have the heating on and not worry (too much) during times like this
3. nsd/npd
4. Having a delicious, filling and warming home cooked casserole from the sc for lunch, and knowing there are plenty more in the freezer
5. Sorting out the kitchen and finding I don't have any useless gadgets in the corners of cupboards any more, they've been freecycled and I make good use of the equipment I have on a regular basis.
Sleep tight
