Thanks peeps, scary morning, she started off fine, then went rapidly downhill, wouldn't move. Emergency vet apt and they were worried about an abdominal bleed as tumours of the spleen, that cause the spleen to rupture are common in GSD and present like this. 2 x abdominal taps clear (I was a wreck by this point) and thorough exam by vet and then snr partner.

Still a mystery, everything is coming back clear and her temp, pulse ok, membranes nice and pink, breathing a bit heavy, but that's all. She had had tramadol, anti inflammatories and antibiotics, so it's a bit of a waiting game. She won't eat and isn't moving much, but has been drinking. Had a big drink before, then was sick :(

I'm so worried about her :( Might as well just hand over this month's wages to the vets :(

    Evening all.

I'll start with one major dis-pleasure - no snow. :( Not a flake.

    1) A nice lie-in this morning as the cold weather seems to have sent mog into hibernation mode.

    2) Got some of my essay done, despite mog 'helping' by walking on the keyboard and nibbling at my fingers while I was trying to type.

    3) Ordered some new long-sleeve t-shirts from M&S, currently on offer at £9.50 each or 2 for £10.

    4) Watching the rugby with a glass of shandy made of a bottle of beer I acquired at a pub quiz and some lemonade I got free with a sandwich I bought last week. :money:

    5) The inelegant but wunnerfully warm fluffy socks my GM gave me last year.

Millie - I really hope GSD's OK. Keep us informed, won't you?
Back after a very long break!
  • Millie - I am so sorry to hear this news . Gentle ((hugs)) to GSD - you must be beside yourself :( I have everything crossed for you xx
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
  • Good evening all !

Ladyhawk - £600 ouch - I have an Audi , so can empathise, similar priced "footwear" for mine too, when required :(

Oldtractor - What a coincidence that you and Millie know the pony .

VJsmum- I hope that you are keeping warm x

    5 for today

    1. Been busy stripping ;). No not that type of stripping ! OH and I stripped the wallpaper off in the dining room.

    2. Sad :(because my late father hung the wallpaper, as he was a Painter and Decorator by trade . I found lots of little pencil marks that he had drawn on the wall , in order to mark where the paper should go etc. I was expecting to see a comment such as "see , I told you that this paper would be a bu**er to get off" , which would not have surprised me in the least:) .Made me quite choked , but I have been putting it off as I knew I would get emotional . He would approve ..

    3. Steven the Seagull sat on the hen house watching the paper stripping saga through the open window, which is about two feet away from the dining room . He sat there for hours , not overly impressed by the sound of the steamer OH was using on the walls when it got near the window .But waited patiently for some cheese .

    4. I saw a house for sale in our local paper that is an old railway cottage with a 250ft garden that backs on to woodlands . I am a tiny bit tempted because of the size of the garden and it is really reasonably priced. Your fault Kittikins :)

    5. Early night as my head pain needs sleep to kill it off - otherwise it will be a shoes in fridge day tomorrow .

Good night all , keep warm x

Millie - special all night hugs for GSD x

    2. OH is here :)

    3. At OH's behest, DD and I went out for a fabulous walk around the village, exploring a few footpaths we've never wandered down (and I've lived here for 8 years!!) whilst he rested a bit

    4. DD bought me some beautiful flowers today, lovely daffodils

    5. We went for a stroll to see our new house and we are soooooooooo excited at the prospect of moving there in a few weeks :):):)

    6. OH, DD and I played some good card games after dinner

    7. We have snow! I know I hate the stuff when I have to go out in it but its pretty in the moonlight

    8. Yummy dinner of Wa1trose Indian takeaway that I bought yesterday.

    9. Just one glass of wine with dinner (oh and a v&t....oh well, not much anyway!)

    10. The 3 of us watched an episode of earthflight and it was fantastic and fascinating

    11. DD serenaded us with her guitar playing, for someone who's only had 3 lessons, she's great :)

    12. DD and I did lots of mental arithmetic whilst on our walk, I'm such a pushy mum!!
  • Mille you must be worried sick, I have everything crossed.

A wonderful feeling of not getting up until 9am – a positive lay in, We got up and went out to meander around
Picked up a cosy cheinelle scarf from a charity shop.
Picked up butcher bacon bits for brekkie tomorrow and a bag of chicken leftovers for 50p for le animals.
We stopped at the only place we will ever trust for fish and chips and it was just perfect.:)

We went over to pick up a Tilley lamp this evening I spotted in a house clearance, it’s amazing, as new boxed up, my DH is very happy as we have been looking out for one for about 5 years and we picked this up for an amazing price:).

I was looking around for fashion ideas but I don’t like high street things my taste is different, I was trying to look a bit smarter for work, but it’s just not me I have a bit of a natural scruff going on.

    It’s snowing I know I shouldn’t but I love it, I want more.

    Evening all,

I'll do a proper post tomorrow but this is just for now.

We left the sports competition we were at today at 5.30pm only to discover that the car's battery was flat and had locked us out, neither the push button key fob or the physical locks would work and it had just started snowing. It took until 7.00pm to get the substitute for the AA rescue service out, then another hour and a quarter for them to break into the car and get us on the road again.

The snow was substantial by this stage and our journey home, which should have taken about 80 mins took three and a half hours.

We drove at snails' pace most of the way (this was almost all motorway driving) and watched cars going out of control in front of us. I drove behind one for quite a long way where the driver just seemed unable to get the tyres to grip and he skidded and swerved for a couple of hundred metres. One car had spun round and come to a standstill immediately in front of us at right angles to a couple of lanes but I was far enough back to stop in time. Another car that we passed had just left the road and ended up a slope into some woods but the driver was on the phone and looked undamaged. There were several rescue vehicles at work removing crashes as well. They were really, really nasty conditions and,of course, if we had been able to leave at the time we'd planned we would have probably missed most of it.

My eyes really hurt from all that concentration on horizontal snow and coping without road markings.

So today's pleasure is really only one major one, that we got home safe and sound without accident.:j

    Off to bed!

    Sleep well,

    B x

(((Molly & GSD))) keeping you in my thoughts and prayers

A brief one tonight/this morning as I fell asleep during a cracking film and missed the end

    1. A really good night's sleep last night, didn't wake til 11am :o

    2. Cleared the washing basket. 4 loads done on econ7, the 5th and last load in now

    3. Divided the casserole in sc into 11 meals, a little rtc chicken and a lot of chunky veggies in each one. Works out to approx 45p a meal, plus the carcass to make soup with and the fat (skin stripped off before cooking the chicken and rendered down) saved for basting roasties :D

    4. nsd/npd because of...

5...the snow. I hate it! But at least it's warmer than it has been for the past few days, and the next few will also be nsd/npd's cos I refuse to go outside my door while the white stuff is around :p

    Sweet dreams
    S :)

eta Broomstick so pleased to read you're at home, and safe x
