Nice one Kittikins! Great news! Well, I'm really glad that week's over with. I think I'm about ready for a holiday! We've not got anything booked but a weekend could be so considered if I try really hard. Let's see, pleasures for today:
1. Driving home down a sweeping right hand stretch of dual carriageway lined with trees in various stages of leaf and the sun going down slowly behind them, casting all in a red glow. Magical.
2. Found a hog roast stall on the local Farmer's market selling a massive bap of roast pork, crackling, sage & onion stuffing and apple sauce for £3.50. Needless to say, who was I to refuse? Particularly when it physically stopped me in my tracks! Saw it, forgot about taking the next footstep and succumbed to a pile of meaty porkiness. Mmm. My stomach has a happy face.
3. I just felt really organised at work. I don't know if that's caffeine creeping back in (haven't drank as much water today but pop and coffee creeping back in with the tiredness - sigh) but I felt really good.
4. Found a penny. Picked it up. All they day I was wondering if I'll get the good luck attached to that rhyme. Bought a lottery ticket though, so we'll see.
5. The scent of a perfectly ripe clementine. Mmm.
I hope I'm going to get chance to have an early night tonight. I'm particularly tired - to the point of not making sense - and am looking forward to vegging out watching some TV. (((hugs))) to those in need.

2. Taking to a neighbour about plants earlier in the freeezzzzing cold on the way to put the horses in for their tea. it was very sunny for 4pm .
3. faggots in gravy and baked beans for lunch today. most enjoyable.
4. DS hoovered today yipppeeee
5. knowing theres a freezer full of food and lots of tins and things in the stockpile cupboard. I am grateful for this.
and another one. looking forward to watching Lord of the Rings on DVD later;after the Archers.
Have a lovely evening all and take care to keep warm and safe. xxOT
ETA Congrats kittikins!0 -
Evening all.
Kittikins - that's great news!
Frith - I'm glad you're starting to feel better. Keep an eye on the itchiness though - if you start getting a rash go back to the doctor, as it could be a sign of an allergic reaction (yes, I know that one from personal experience!).
sparrer - a hearty round of :T to your DGD - that's a fantastic achievement.
1) I wore my furry boots and a fluffy jumper to the office today and, with the sun shining through the window and our lousy air-conditioning, I felt a bit too warm at one point - rather nice given the temperature outside! (-3 according to my car - brr!)
2) Popped into M&S and found a pair of trousers for work reduced to half price in the sale. :money: I also bought a semi-smart jumper, also half price, which I probably didn't really need, but I figure you can't have too many warm jumpers.
3) Nice plumber came back and fixed the second leak: he reckons it's now as good as he can make it without fiddling around with the rather fragile old pipes, which he doesn't want to do in case they snap.
4) Being a bad CCP and deciding not to do any work on my essay again tonight, a decision I suspect I might regret tomorrow.
5) Fakeaway chicken inna bun and chips tonight - it's not very healthy, but I've been fancying it all week.
6) The weather forecast says it will snow tomorrow - the child in me just loves fluffy white stuff!
Have a nice, warm evening, all. (mhagster - please feel free to send some of your excess warmth my way. Thanks.)
Back after a very long break!0 -

:rotfl:KB - what can I say ?? Shame I don't eat pork really
frith - that sounded horrendous , poor youI think you must have had 10 years worth of illnesses over the last few weeks. I expect your stomach is nailed to your back bone now??
kittikins - what a reliefx
Broomstick - nah, I still think you could give George Osborne a run for his... err moneyBroomstick for Chancellor !! It would make THE BUDGET so much more interesting :rotfl:
5 for today
1. Watched at silly o'clock My Dream Farm with Monty Don. People with dreams of owning a smallholding etc. All v. interesting , I like this sort of programme. Fell back to sleep and dreamed of chicken coops , sad but true
2. The scaffolders rendered my hens "mute" again. To give them some moral support I spent most of the morning in the garden clearing branches to put in the recycling bin which had just been emptied. It was freezing but a lovely bright morning .
3. Hens had warm porridge for lunch , most of which went on my jeans from "beak wiping" and pecking the studs on my jean pockets on my bum .Little horrors.
4. OH replaced the brake light bulb ready forwork on Monday . However , if it snows Occ. Health advise that I stay indoors as a fall will probably break my neck. Radiologists whisper to each other when they see my neck in an x -ray :rotfl:I have work I can do at home anyway and portal access .
5. "Fake away" KFC tonight with rtc chicken breasts and fries . Yum
Have a good weekend all ! xx:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Don't know about the rest of the country, but it is incredibly cold here in Bristol! Brrrr.....
Mine for today:
1. Being told by my friend who is reading my draft novel that she is really enjoying it and finding it gripping. She has also given some very useful feedback.
2. Getting a couple of phone calls about the old tumble dryer I'm selling - hopefully that will be gone tomorrow and I'll have a few more £££ in my purse.
3. A NSD!
4. Spending the afternoon charity shop shopping with a friend and having lots of laughs along the way. She bought loads of stuff and luckily I wasn't tempted by anything.
5. Very dubious pleasure, this - I spoke with a prospective new mummy for my foster cat Fudge. The woman sounds lovely but I don't want to part with my gorgeous furbaby!
6. Making a tub of pate for lunches next week.
7. A big bowl of homemade soup for lunch.
8. Picking up a free magazine to read.
9. Making arrangements to meet a friend who I've not seen for ages - he had the right idea and spent most of the winter in Thailand.
10. Yummy hot porridge and blueberries for breakfast - a great way to start the day!
Have a good evening, everyone.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -

Boo!! Going back to work is a bit like going back to school after the summer hols!! I will do a little snow dance, so that you can stay home a teeny bit longer!!
...and I neeeeeed some hens
Kittikins- fab news
My five for today
1. Cheeky lie in!! Didn't have rugrats arriving til 10am, so I didn't really need to be in until 9.30, so I stayed in bed until 8.20  then dashed around sorting animals, etc. Thank goodness for dry shampoo!!
2. Weird moment when I realised that I had cleared my email inbox, done my marking and teaching and had no work to take home for the weekend...ok this didn't last long, but I only have one piece of work to mark over the weekend, which will only take about 15 mins
3. OH managed to get Happy Mondays tickets
4. Day went downhill when I was faced with a poorly bunny when I got home. Emergency vet apt and he has "snuffles" and ?dental problem, so providing the drugs work ok, he is booked in for a dental workup on Monday. I really had feared the worst, but of course, he made a complete teet of me by causing mayhem at the vets  This was not very MSE  and I shall be living on baked beans for the forseeable future
5. It's Fridayand the bunny will not have a relapse that necessitates an expensive weekend vet visit...:nono:
Hugs to anyone in need xx0 -
Sleep well Kitchenbunny x
1. The excitment of knowing that my current house is in A1 condition and the buyers are now happy to go to exchange, roll on next week or whenever it is!
2. Thankful for S, OH's bil who turned up and helped smoothe the situation and explain things to me and the buyer this morning.
3. Went to see my new friend from church who is an amazing Chinese doctor. Had great acupuncture and massage on my bad leg, she is very keen for me to not have the operations I'm waiting for and thinks that she can help. Based on how relaxed and good I feel this evening, I think she's right!
4. A lovely freecycler gave me a freeview box this evening, yay, we will be able to watch TV when we move!
5. Popped over for a chat and a cuddle with OH, picking him up tomorrow for the weekend0 -
Quick 5 as the boys want to watch something on iplayer on the laptop.
1) Feeling better still!
2) Got my car tax. Hope they don't notice it was a couple of days late. :-/
3) Quite a tasty wrap for lunch. Just used up stuff in the fridge - a wrap, bits of chicken, mayo, mustard and red pepper.
4) Bigger son has spent hours making a stunt double.
5) Sister brought fish and chips round.
6) Laughing watching bigger son and sister act out a scene using the stunt double!0
