Hope you feel better soon. Thanks for posting that article - brilliant. Very thought provoking. I have passed it on
Chicken - so true about those moments you will never get back again. I often think that. And LOVE your story of Steven the Seagull! That is lovely. Please keep us updated!I want a Steven the Seagull in my life!
PK - where do you go to get such amazing reduced bargains? My local Tesco is rubbish - all the RTC stuff is still too expensive. Eg. a pie - was £3.99, now £3 - reduced but not exactly bargain-tastic!
Mine for yesterday:
1. £5 Amazon voucher for a survey
2. Postie arrived with bargains: 2 x Body Scrubs from the Body Shop which I got for something like £2.50 each (RRP £12.50 each), a pack of strange sized batteries for a clock I have which hadn't been used for 2 years because said batteries hadn't been replaced
3. Washing out on the line and 2 loads done
4. Watching the birdies from my office window, getting stuck into the fat balls and nuts that I put out
5. Veg box day - yum hm soup and bread for tea0 -
Love the stories about Steven the Seagull and Phillipe the Pheasant. They have reminded me about DS1's friendly pigeon. :rotfl:
When my children were very young they slept on mattresses on the floor and DS1's was next to the airbrick in the bricked up chimney in their bedroom. I didn't think about this when I put it there. It was only months later that I realised when he told me about the pigeon who used to sit on the chimney pot and coo down the chimney at him, so DS1 used to coo back at bedtime and quite often the pigeon used to wake him up in the morning too. The cooing was amplified by the chimney - really quite loud. They had a very good friendship since, of course, DS1 was bilingual in pigeon.
Ninnoodle, can you tell me where you do surveys that pay Amazon vouchers? I could really do with a means of earning those and I haven't looked into doing surveys yet.
Have a happy (((warm))) day everyone.

Broomstick - it's for Sony Music Backstage. I answer various questions on music. If you collect 100 points per month you get a £5 Amazon voucher. It was posted on MSE before and they got swamped I think and wouldn't take on new people! Not sure if that is still the case.
Here is the link (I think - I can't seem to get to the front page and don't know how to log out so think this is it): http://www.sonymusicbackstage.com/sonymusic0 -
Hi everyone my 5 are
1. Twinkly lights [originally off the xmas tree] are up along a beam in my sitting room. They look lovely and are very bright and cheerful ; I think I'll leave them up until the spring equinox.
2. Listening to the Archers ;David is thinking of selling the herd !
3. I baked today ; 4 wholemeal loaves; a batch of scones and some wholemeal baps.
4. Especially for MILLIEthis one. today we met ;for the first time;the owners of a couple of shetlands which appeared in the paddock next to ours before xmas [they visit every day ;just at different times to me doing mine]. Anyway ;we got talking and it turns out they are both rescues.one from one horse rescue place .he was very thin and quite bald when they first got him apparently .looks great now. Oldtractor- they are lovely ! did you breed them yourself?
Millie - we would eventually end up as two crazy old ladies , with a house full of animals that we allowed to sit on the furniture instead of peopleFloor to ceiling newspapers and a Christmas tree that stayed up all year. I can just see it ! Hope that you are feeling better ? Phillipe sounds very sweet, they are so good looking.
ninnoodle - Steven the Seagull , just dribbles profusely when he sees me, typical chap really ....:D He is not a happy boy today as they have put scaffolding up next door and he doesn't like strangers on his turf.He just about tolerates my OH .:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening everyone. I'm feeling very tired but here are some pleasures from today:
1. Having a sit down with my feet up.
2. Starting a new notebook at work. Amazing how simple something as literal as turning over a new leaf can feel.
3. It's Friday tomorrow.
4. Having a cuddle with Mr Kitchenbunny before I had to go to work.
5. Finding a perfect Valentine's card for the Hub.
What a day! I think most people around here think it's Friday, the way they're charging about all over the place! The journey home as been rather fraught with tailgaters - pet hate of mine - and impatience at every turn. The morning wasn't too bad but then it doesn't tend to be early on. It's people coming home from work which drives me nuts. Tomorrow will be worse. Started the day driving into the car park at work with the white stuff falling from the sky! It only lasted for half hour or so but it was nice to see. The sky is a kind of dusty grey colour now so I have no idea if we'll get any more or not. The weather warning email I've signed up for is preparing for it, that's for certain. Then, at lunchtime, I went to buy fruit for my desk and thought I'd picked up some lovely clementines. Wrong! I'd picked up Seville oranges - whoops. A friend of my Mum's will gladly take them off my hands, but what a mistake - putting a whole segment in my mouth. The look on my face was a picture, I've been told.
Anyway, I'm hoping to be able to put my feet up tonight. I'm not holding out much hope based on how it's been today! Thank goodness for tea!
Have a good evening, everyone. ((hugs)) to those under the weather.

Oldtractor - lovely picture there. I need to get my two on here for you to have a look at as well!!
1. Cleaned the house right through
2. Put the sheets on the line to dry, by the time I brought them in they were like cardboard :rotfl:so finished them off in the tumble dryer - having said that it dried the dogs bedding a treat!
3. NIce cup of tea by the fire watching the weather report just before 3pm before I went out to the horses.
4. Brisk walk round the fields with the dogs it was damn cold but lovely to come home and feel the warmth of the house.
5. Not having to go out in the car anywhere - still safely stowed away in the garage. I love days like that when you can spend them at home without needing or even wanting to go out!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

1. Lovely horses
2. My first no spend day of February, although I would have bought petrol if I'd remembered my purse as I'm in the red bit!
3. Gorgeous, scrumptious day with OH and hopefully spending the weekend together with DD too
4. Good working day, got things done I needed to
5. Have started more tidying/decluttering in advance of hopefully good news tomorrow with surveyors etc for finally getting the people buying my house to commit!! I've got to keep positive and if not, need the place tidy so I can put it back on the market pronto!
6. Had a siesta at lunchtime0 -
Good evening all!
Broomstick- Wow ! You are so organised . When I "grow up" I want to be more like you !!
Rainy days - yes, days when you don't need or want to go out are just great.
Kittikins - I hope you sorted out the surveyor issue x
5 for today
1. Hens turning "mute " as the scaffolders came through my garden. They had asked for access through my property via my back garden to put scaffolding up on the house next door. When I came out the hens started shouting at me as if to say "who the heck are these people?" .It was funny , probably only to me as only I know they go all "shy" with strangers .
2. Went out for lunch with my Mum and OH . It was "eat all you can" for £6.99 pp chinese food and dessert. My Mum treated us which was an unexpected surprise. The food was lovely.
3. Due to the above ^ had a little snooze a la Ladyhawk.
4. No need to cook or eat anymore today as I am stuffed !Major thirst on now though.
5.Brake light needed replacing as a warning came up on the dashboard as we were driving back from the restaurant . OH has just got two new ones for £2.99 a lot less than Au*i would charge !
Have a good evening all and warm keep warm x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0
