5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Kitchenbunny, Aldi and Lidl are just great! So is doing the Grocery Challenge - makes a huge difference to me, and I still eat really well.
Mine for today:
1. A bright, clear (but very cold!) day here in Bristol, so I walked into town to get some exercise - it's about a 4 mile round trip.
2. Whilst in town I bumped into my friend Kay, which was lovely :j.
3. Stocking up on books from the library.
4. Meeting a friend for drinks at Wetherspoons and having a glass of red wine whilst chatting the afternoon away on one of their comfy sofas by the fire .
5. Another NPD - sadly not a NSD due to the pub visit.
6. Doing my daily housework, typing, Spanish and yoga routines.
7. Yummy jacket potato with curry and pitta bread for lunch and using up odds and ends to eat in the evening.
8. Another viewing on the house.
9. Screwing up the courage to ask two friends if they will give me feedback on my first novel :eek::eek: as well as printing off the second one I have written so I can get going on editing that one.
10. Favourable email about a short story I wrote ages ago, which has proved very popular.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Brrrrr, from chilly Sussex where it was trying and thankfully failing to snow this morning!
1. Pay day
2. Consequently, a spend day, but I've bought a few YS bits and pieces and not too many 'treats'
3. Paid for a drainage specialist to come and confirm at vast expense to me that my drains are not blocked. Even with photographic evidence and the agent spoke to the chap whilst he was at my house and the chap wrote down on the receipt exactly what he did and thinks about the drains........the buyers want to speak to him themselves (i.e. they don't trust me or the agent to tell the truth!) and then speak again to their surveyor and then they'll let me know what they're going to do!!! Anyway, the pleasure is that I don't have a problem, but the potential displeasures are many......the house will be going back on the market on Saturday if they haven't made their mind up by then!
4. Lovely chat with my mummy on the phone who listened to my happiness and irritation re: above!
5. Good day at work, got loads done, it was quite spooky!!
6. Had a fabulous time at Rainbows tonight with bonza Lamington's (cake and sauce made by an Aussie chap and his wife whose daughter comes to our group) I love Australia day
7. Persuaded DD to practice her guitar - she's had 2 lessons, and with a bit of coaxing, she can play 'If you're happy and you know it' and can now remember 2 chords off by heart. I'm so pleased, as it was a struggle and a bit of bartering went on to get her to do some practice. Hoping that we can do it again tomorrow without the angst, but I'm so proud of her for picking the bits up so well
8. Looking forward to a nice chat with OH in a moment, and so glad he's back home (and hopefully at my home tomorrow) after his trip to London to see a consultant
9. Couldn't be bothered to make a packed lunch today, naughty me, but bought cheap and not too unhealthy foods at lunchtime when I popped out to get my bits and pieces.
10. Have made plans to see a lovely friend and her baby tomorrow so it will be a spend day as I didn't have time to buy him a present......darn it, time just runs away with me at times!
11. Looking forward to making cake to take with us tomorrow afternoonI think carrot cake and some fairy cakes for DD who foolishly doesn't like carrot cake!
Keep warm everyone. Hope the poorlies are well on the mend. Where are you ampersand? Hope you had a great time at your sale thing x0 -
Evening Ladies,
Hope you are all well. I'm another Secret Millionaire lover.... though I am usually reduced to a soggy mess by the end of the programme!
I have been a very bad girl.... I didn't realise that a certain car related certificate of mine had run out... 3 months ago... so when I went to pay for my car tax today I was in a bit of a pickle. Anyway... took the car in and it passed with flying colours (woohoo!) so car is now legal again. Phew! What a stress!
1) Sorted out the car tax.... not OS or MSE but at least it is done.
2) Requested a charge back from Sant@nder for a issue I had with a car rental I had when I was on holiday. The guy who dealt with me was exceptionally courteous and helpful and fingers crossed, the chargeback will be approved and I won't have to think about it again.
3) Good day in the office with everyone being really positive. Is it a co-incidence that all senior managers are a conference today?
4) Brought some HM caramel popcorn in from home to snack on... and then felt ill from all the sugar...
5) Bloody chilly morning but no frost on my car.... I hate scraping the car in the morning!
6) Pay day!!! Yippee!!!
Nighty night night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Hi - don't mind if I join in do you? I quite like this thread, because as someone just pointed out - it makes you think of the positive things in your day.
So, here goes...
1) Home made leek, potato and fennel soup for tea
2) PAY DAY!
3) Finished cutting out the pieces for my next bag - have got a real thing about making bags at the moment.
4) Just completed a bit of extra work that I've been given the opportunity to take up - all the extra pennies will be very welcome
5) Cuddles from the cat0 -
1. Car failed MOT. But hey, i have a car and even though i have no money to now live on that's a better thing than me NOT having a car.
2. I struggled, but managed to empty my big brown garden refuse bin...took me two days!. I had used it to bokashi and also to compost peelings and soft cuttings etc. Mostly it is now gorgeous material to use this year in my veg garden.
3. Central heating. Feels so good.
4. My overdraft. Now consumed by m.o.t costs.
5. 24. Jack bauer ROCKS. Now watching the last episode of season 7. Addictive.isn't. The. word.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
NSD Challenge: October 0/140 -
It is quiet here today
So for today
1. Walked to work so got rid of some of yesterdays cake in weightwatchers points
2. Teaching session went well
3. More eating the freezer for tea - chicken and apricot casserole and home grown runner beans
4. Made shed loads of mince stuff to go in freezer and for tomorrows tea
And the best of all
5. Dad seems a bit brighter tonight and whilst on the phone I heard doctor tell him that his kidneys are much better. I am off on another "marking on the train" day tomorrow to visit.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Drove in and it was snowing at work, thou slushy.
Organised, took in reduced sandwiches, taking one out of the freezer at home as I go and it defrosts by lunch, it feels good having a sandwich for 10p.
Came home lovely to lovely DH
Was greeted with lovely winter warmer of stew and dumplings.
It went well again, nothing’s really set up no email and no access to any files to being emailed lots of info to get to grips with, getting used to “hot desking” means I can’t leave anything there no cups etc, so trying to be organised. As there are no shops near work there is no temptation of crisps and sweets when the afternoon low hits!
It would be fair to say I am a bit frazzled when I get back, when out of work it’s hard not to become a night owl , so braking the habit is hard.0 -
Hello Greenbuzby, nice to meet you
Your soup sounds scrummy....save me a bowl!
VJsmum - really pleased to read that your dad appears to be on the mend, gentle hugs to you both x
Yay, got another pleasure - just did a survey for £4 of LV, that'll be good for the grocery budget this month!0 -
Welcome Greenbuzby it's good to join in - even if it happens at random intervals (like me).
1) Car-sharing with DH. We may not talk to each other in the morning but we can sit side-by-side. Plus, we take DS to the station, so it feels as if we're getting the best use from the car.
2) A free main course this evening - meat from the freezer which came from a Sunday lunch at Mum's, with a few veg and potatoes dug from the garden on Sunday.
3) Faceb00k chat with my cousin. It's the only way we communicate but it's so nice to get in touch occasionally.
4) DD is going to a ball at Uni tonight in a borrowed dress. That's my girl.
5) Resigned from a local organisation this evening in an attempt to tidy up my life and concentrate on some of the church stuff I've been missing. I was very grateful that the Chair made it easy for me. I just can't split myself in two any more.0 -
1. Spent £20 in Sainsbugs and got £4 off with a voucher, plus 28p off with another voucher. Then got another voucher for 92p to use next time!
2. among the shopping I bought bogof pineapples, nets of satsumas, lf Philly, reduced carrots, grapes, ys double cream (with which I made butter this evening) and two good sized mackerel, enough for 4 meals
3. Called into a local charity furniture store, they have a large bric-a-brac area where 4 items are £1. Got 6 ramekins which I've been looking for for a while, a dainty crystal vase and another, bone china one, total £2. The vases will make lovely little birthday/Christmas gifts
4. Watched Superscrimpers on demand
5. It hasn't snowed - yet
Sweet dreams0
