    2. Friend sent me this http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2012/feb/01/top-five-regrets-of-the-dying?INTCMP=SRCH and it seemed apt, given what I was talking to my boss about yesterday. I feel like I'm at a stage where I am re-evaluating what it important in my life and realising that life is way too short not to make the most of it
    4. Laughing at myself: OH sent a text to ask how I was, I replied (and I quote) "not very good in bed". Punctuation is everything!!

Millie- hhmm , seems to be something in the air at the moment ;) - Re your "linky" , very interesting and a bit of a leveller (sp?) Sometimes, like today - enjoying the sunshine and the crispness of the day and the critters doing their own thing , I think I am never going to get this time again . Not a sad feeling as such ,but the need to enjoy this "snapshot" for what it is cos you are not going to get it back . But my dear, you will always have your sense of humour which truly is a gift xx Get well soon !

Broomstick - another NSD ! I am intrigued , may I ask when you do spend do you spend a lot in those few days ??? I am very nosey :)

oldtractor - Ithought you were swearing at first :D!

frith - I hope you are ok ??

    5 for today

    1. A day pottering and relaxing at home.

    2. KB - you would have been proud ! Made a turkey pie in the slow cooker, cheese straws , bread and butter pudding made with the "abandoned" hot cross buns left by OH .Then used up another abandoned loaf to make breadcrumbs to put in the freezer for when I make hm "fake away" KFC.

    3. Two loads of washing dried on the line- it was such a beautiful day here today.

    4. My old pal Steven the Seagull (aka Steven Segal) made an appearance. I know it is him as he has a hole in his foot and he is not remotely scared of me and prefers to be hand fed on top of the hen house. People can't believe how "tame" he is . He went away for a year ( a gap year :rotfl:)but has been around for at least 10 years .He is now living on my chimney and was watching me this afternoon when I was in the garden . He will fly down as soon as I come out and will soon bring his "kids" down to the hen house to show me . He also dive bombed a fox one morning that was climbing over my fence a few years ago.Sad but true :) I am so pleased to see him ( if it is a him)!

    5. Had a cheeky glass of wine with my tea.

    Have a good evening all!

    Evening all.

Millie - hope you feel better soon.

    Frith - if you're reading - I hope you're OK.

Greenbuzby - welcome to the thread.

I've had a reasonably good day today in that nothing has broken (yet) - my current run of bad luck continued yesterday when my hairdryer, which I'd only owned for a month, died in a cloud of smoke. At least the shop didn't argue and gave me my money back without a quibble.

    1) The nearest I've come to a disaster today was my breakfast porridge boiling over and coating the microwave - at least that's washable!

    2) I left work a bit early today as the plumber was coming, and the sky was still fairly light at 5pm.

    3) One leaky pipe has been fixed (the wonders of having a proper plumber rather than a general handyman who know s** all about plumbing - he was a bit indignant that my landlord hadn't called him in the first place, not surprisingly), although another one still seems to be leaking a bit so I'll have to call him again tomorrow.

    4) Making a veggie stew flavoured with cider, and having to find a use for the other half a bottle.

    5) Chatting with my DM about the OS board - I knew she'd like it here if she came in for a while. :D

Have a good evening, all, and stay well wrapped up in this chilly weather!
Back after a very long break!

Get well soon - and I'm sure you'll improve if you practice lots.. :D

    Greenbuzby - welcome!

Another freezingly cold day here! Let's see what I can come up with:

    1. Using my £5 off a £30 Aldi shop to good advantage - I'm now well stocked up with loo rolls, flour, olive oil etc and all helps towards my rather tight £40 February grocery challenge.
    2. Getting a free cholesterol check done at Sainsburys. All fine and dandy!
    3. Yummy, if unusual, evening meal using up leftovers.
    4. Another viewing on the house arranged for this weekend.
    5. A free session at the gym courtesy of some passes that were given to me.
    6. More emails about some old short stories of mine.
    7. Unexpected message on Facebook from a former colleague.
    8. Biting the bullet and sending my novel off for review with a few people.
    9. Following my housework, Spanish and typing routines. I think the typing has got somewhat easier since I swapped to a different style of keyboard.
    10. More cuddles with Fudge the Cat. Does the fact I'm pleased that nobody has shown any interest in adopting her make me a bad foster mummy? Gives me more time for cuddles with her - she is such a sweetie!
Life is not a dress rehearsal.
  • Greenbuzby - welcome! Hope you find more pleasures today :)
Chickenopolis - Wow, go you! That's an awesome bake day! I love the sound of the turkey pie and bread and butter pudding with hot cross buns (drooling) sounds amazing! Save me a portion :D
Millie - hope you feel better soon
Frith - hope you're feeling better too - thinking of you
Sparrer - ((hugs)) just feeling that you could do with one :)

Wow another day gone already. It was a weird morning this morning. The drive to work was fairly dark still, but as soon as I left Mr M at about 7:30am it was completely light! Got to work and ditto. It feels like there is spring in the air (and then you realise the warmth on your face is your breath steaming ;) ). Had a great one when I got out of work too. A bird had been kind enough to poop on my windscreen at some point in the day, and I thought "okay, I'll screenwash it off." Didn't work. It had frozen to my windscreen. Had to get the scraper to it! That's a first for me :D Work hasn't been too bad - I feel like I'm getting somewhere with the file I'm working on and the feeling of achievement is nice.

    Here's my pleasures for today:

    1. The sky is so clear tonight. I looked up at the night sky and yet again another amazingly clear night. Orion was clearly visible just above the house and whirling 360 I saw some I'd never noticed before. I'm really getting into astronomy. :)
    2. A nice hot bath, and the warm floaty feeling that has settled on me after it.
    3. Mum cooked tea for us tonight, and it was lovely. I wish I could get my Mum on here, I know she'd love it.
    4. Sticking to my shopping list for the final few items on it. Only spent £6.14 and there's only bananas to get on Friday so Mr Kitchenbunny will have some for lunch next week.
    5. Rehashing last night's chicken tikka with some mayo into coronation chicken sandwiches for tomorrow's lunch.
    6. The river reflected rippling sunlight into the office so it looked like a portal into another world on the office wall!

Hope everyone has a lovely evening, and (((hugs))) to those in need.

    KB xx

  • Greenbuzby Welcome it's a fantastic thread.
Ninnoodle Yup shattered, trying to keep to make it throu the evening to spend time with DH but I've been a bit nodding dog syndrome, bit more with it today, but yeah it will take a while.

Lovely DH defrosted the car for me, and sorted out my frozen sandwich lunch while I faffed getting my laptop together.
Another nice day at work, the travel was ok.
Got home, changed and back out in 4 minutes flat to get back out with DH to food shop.
Managed to get there and get amazing bargins, I wondered if it was worth it as being crowded freaks me out but I got 10 sandwiches for 10p each, 2 weeks of work lunches and some other bits and pieces.

20p pizza and garlic bread for dinner tonight.

At 5am this morning I woke up as I was feeling appalling, but by 7 it seemed to wear off a bit, hoping I can keep it at bay until the snow arrives and we can hibernate safely :)

    Merry Imbolc, oldtractor!

Chickenopolis, it's very simple, I'm just having one day a week when money leaves my hands so today, which is shopping day, involves me spending the entire week's money - everything from food to phone top up, to fuel for the car, veggiebox, de-icer for the windscreen, bills that come by post, Amazon purchases... all of it. Goodness knows how long I can keep this going for but it is working well for me atm and means money isn't being frittered away mindlessly and, if something isn't bought on a Wednesday, it can't be bought until the next one! I just have to cope without... and I am!:D

    Anyway my 5 pleasures:

    1. Getting the shop done and put away.:T

    2. Listening again, on and off through the day, to the Radio 4 drama 'Lost Property' (three 45 min episodes). I think I posted this as a pleasure the first time the series was broadcast but I'm posting it again because it really is a stunningly good listen. Highly recommended.:)

    3. Chatting on the phone with a friend.

    4. Found, after weeks of searching for it, an important booklet that I had to give back to someone else. It had vanished of the face of the earth until today. It's now pinned to my notice board!

    5. Getting to eat my favourite flavour of yoghurt from the mixed packet. It's everyone else's favourite too so I usually never get a look in! :D

    Sleep well

Chickenopolis - love that your seagull comes back to visit and show off the kids :) Warms the cockles!

    1. A spend day but a good'un

    2. Made 2 yummy lemon drizzle cakes (one without the drizzle for a picky DD), the other we took to our friend's house

    3. Met the most gorgeous, handsome, snuggly 6 week old baby boy, and as predicted, he fell asleep on my ample chest (they all do, lol). DD is in love and has pronounced him joint first in the baby love stakes with the little girl we babysit for!

    4. OH's brother in law is very kindly going to come to my house on Friday and hopefully help resolve the issue that is holding up the sale of my house. I need reinforcements as the buyer's surveyor is being nasty and BIL is a very well-respected surveyor who will hopefully scare the other one away and tell him to stop being stupid!

    5. My dad has emailed to check when he's going to buy tickets for the science museum live show that DD and I want to go to with them to celebrate my birthday later this year :) I know I can't afford to take DD and I any more, so have asked for tickets for my birthday present

    6. OH is here :)

    7. Naughty dinner of chips whilst on the way back from cuddling the baby as we lost track of time and didn't leave til nearly 7pm, and with a 20 mile drive back, it being late, chips being yummy and cheap etc etc, it just had to be done! :)

    8. Had more good news about the house I'm buying, something I thought wasn't registered, turns out to have been done recently, so I have zero/zilch/nada/no questions left with that house and can't wait to get going! Here's hoping Friday morning goes my way....

    Morning

Millie- Hope you are feeling better today, did giggle at the text

    Pleasures for yesterday,
    1. Another day of sticking to the meal plan, spag bol for me and OH and DD had a portion of gnochi with hers that had been lurking in the freezer.
    2. Lunch of soup and wrap in a cafe yesterday with friends from work, we laughed so much. Soup was nice but one of friends said he was disappointed as wasn't as good as mine :D. We have decided that next week I will make soup, K will make bread, P will make flapjacks and C will bring in something nice to drink and will have it in our little staff room at work. I am slowing making all my friends MSE :money:
    3. Ordered DD a book she needed for school from Amazon for 1p plus postage, much cheaper than the price quoted by school.
    4. Sorted out the filing on my desk, I hate doing this job so glad it is done now.
    5. Hearing the news that my cousin has finally thrown out her OH. He isn't very nice and kept being very nasty to her teenage DD so glad she has seen the light and got rid of him just hope she doesn't take him back.

Hugs to all who need them and hope all the poorlies feel better soon.

Brilliant :rotfl:We have Philippe the Pheasant, who is just stupid and I am amazed that he hasn't been squished on the road yet! He comes along every morning and demands his breccie! We need to live next door to each other...imagine the mayhem :rotfl:

That is just brilliant, brave, but brilliant- not sure I could do it as I am not the most organised person on the planet!
Get well soon - and I'm sure you'll improve if you practice lots.. :D

I wouldn't mind, but he didn't text back to say "no, your'e brilliant", or similar....slightly concerned now:rotfl:

Brrr, cold still, have a house full of wabbits! Oldie confined to her bedroom. Still not feeling brilliant, but need to go and sit through a morning of student seminars!! Yawn....

hello from Hotsville again.....I enjoyed my 2 cooler days but back to heat again.

1.Early start at work ...alarm clock set for silly o'clock!

2.Last day of school hols, bags are packed, uniforms ready, shiny shoes....a big shock to 3 childrens system tomorrow when they have to get up early!

3.Went to library (on my legs...easy walking distance!) watched Corrie from Monday on Youtube! Not seen it in 4 months but the trial is about what we saw when we were home! Quite a few new characters! Then thought I'd try Easties.....Dot Cotton was about the only one I knew! Got a few books out.

4.Hot date with my husband....walking distance again (loving this!) to Thai restaurant, we order 2 dishes but were misheard & they brought one.....so we shared & it was much cheaper....inadvertantly MSE!

5.I have decided to cut (yikes!) beautiful curtains my friend made me a few years ago, they were to fit a huge picture window we had in one of our previous houses, I brought them with us but they are far too wide, so will cut them each in 2 & will put 1 set in lounge & 1 in dining room. It's either that or they sit in a cupboard for years, I do love them so would rather use them again.
