Well done Miss Sparrer grandaughter, that's fabulous, what an achievement0
-
Sparrer, congrats to your DGD2 from me as well!
Chicken, you really don't want to be like me  when you are 'grown up' :rotfl: The reason I'm being so ferocious with NSDs and sorting the house out is that I'm in a very big muddle and broke - not a good combination :rotfl: - which is why I'm trying to get everything sorted and am doing my level best not to let the NSD thing slip.:D
My five for Thursday:
1. Stirfry, tofu and rice for supper, and sharing a tin of lychees for pud which was a seriously good treat and a surprise for the DSs since they didn't realise I had it stashed away.:D
2. This would sound soooo sad to anyone who wasn't an OS/MSE/5Pleasures addict but it's such a pleasure to open my newly sorted kitchen cupboards:D I did two more today and took an inventory of the stocks of non-food things I've got put away - things like light bulbs, candles, cleaning materials etc. so I can see what needs topping up next week.
3. Getting an email from someone who has been really kind to me about something I was completely guilt-ridden and stuck about.:o Am really grateful to her.
4. Reading my new art book has given me a really nice idea about a bit of money making I can look into doing. Oh, and one of the exercises in the book gives a recipe for apple pie, tells you to make it, then asks you to draw the result! Made me laugh.
5. The cup of tea I am drinking right now. Sometimes tea is just so good.
Sweet dreams

Morning
Sparrer - Huge congratulations to your DGD
Frith - Glad to hear you are feeling better
Broomstick - I so get your No.2, OH just looks at me strangely when I say things like that.
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. Ran out of butter yesterday and didn't want to buy anymore as would have taken me over my grocery spend for the week (by 50p) but noticed there was some little butter pats left over from a lunch at work, they would have gone in the bin so liberated to my kitchen making yesterday a NSD:money:
2. Managed to get free tickets for the Ideal Home Show for us and MIL. DD loves this day out so happy with that.
3. £3 luncheon vouchers in the post from a survey, added to the voucher stash.
4. Very organised yesterday morning and put beef casserole in the slow cooker for dinner. Just one problem with being organised is that OH was the first in, cold and hungry....... DD finished up with pizza for dinner, which luckily was free as testing for a survey.
5. Being lovely and warm inside when so cold outside
Hugs to all who need them0 -
CCP -((hugs)) to you . I hope that you have a better day x
Frith -glad to hear that you are on the mend . If you don't mind me asking what was it?? Take it easy x
sparrer -conratulations to your DGD :T
millie - sounds like you are feeling better ?, I forgot to mention the hens and the gees as it would be a given that they would be installed wherever we went.:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
hello & hurrah again for Friday, it's been a quick week. Been a nice sunny day but feeling a bit confused in my upside down , back to front life as kids went back to school today & it's February....surely it must be August already?
1.Up bright & early, finished my book on my kindle.....for a story that I have enjoyed reading, what a disappointing end! Got 3 loads of washing on line, an ironing done & some hoovering before I went to work.
2.Kids all smart & happy to go to school, new house is a much shorter walk. They all had a good day & were full of chat when we got home.
3.Work was busy & productive, new staff who are keen and meant I could go away at my proper time! Home before kids.
4.Wandered up to library again, sat & read to glossy magazines before getting kicked out as they closed at 5pm.
5.Having an I love Australia day, I do like these days when I appreciate the lifestyle we have here.
I could do with a top up of love & friendship and a wee visit home right now, I felt so topped up when we were home but that has started to deplete slightly & there are so many things I miss (sometimes just everything really!) so I do like it when I have a 'you know what, it's not so bad here' kind of day !
Hope you all have a lovely day, Frith , hope you're on the mend now. Sparrer what a clever GD,
Broomstick, you are inspiring with your NSD.....I have managed 1 tiny one all week, more practice needed I think!, Kittikins, I hope all goes well with the house!, PK, hope your first week at work has gone well. Chicken, Millie & Old Tractor.... I have a Thelwell type image in my head!Ladyhawk, glad things are going better at work for you, everyone else! I just love reading your pleasures ( mainly because I'm nosy ) .
eta:Have just googled the book I read & there's a follow up! Off to start it now!0 -
Chickenopolis - first week was like flu (though could still get up, drive etc) with aches and pains and high temperature. Thursday before last that suddenly changed to sinusitis, the worst sore throat I've ever had in my life and constant erm.... sicking. And being unable to get up or do anything at all. I hadn't felt so bad since I got measles when I was 15.
Dr could see a really bad throat infection but now the antibiotics have killed that off and the sinusitis. Hoorah! They don't half make me grumpy, though. And itchy.0 -
Hi I haven't posted much this month as have been busy.
My few for the past few days are
1. Inviting friends over for coffee and going to their houses for coffee - some great chats and much cheaoer than going to a coffee shop.
2. Taking lunch into work every day - has saved me loads of money.
3. Sorted out seeds for planting both veg and flowers including edible flowers.
4. Listed stuff on ebay and most have bids on them
5. Spent time sewing on buttons, mending pockets, fixing holes etc - finding it satisfying to prolong use
of items
6. I am decluttering as much as possible to try and create a more peaceful and calm environment,.well I can always hope.
7. Being strict and keeping to my menu plan.0 -
Sparrer - no wonder you are proud. Congrats to your DGD!
Mine for yesterday:
1. Bargain new curtains I got off ebay for the spare room arrived and they are lovely for the spare room. I put them up immediately - what a difference they made.
2. Fresh sheets on the bed and a cleaned bedroom
3. I think it was an NSD but I tend to forget. I abandon so many virtual baskets after getting carried away with bargain hunting and then thinking at the checkout...'oh I don't need it though' and saving myself lots of money! I'm not sure committing to NSDs are for me though because when I spot a total bargain for something I need and use (eg. loo roll, cat food etc) I get it! I would always panic that the days my spending fell on, I would be paying out of pocket. And nothing gives me more pleasure than getting a bargain!
4. Beautiful sunny, frosty day
5. My OH had bought a surprise pudding for tea0 -
Ninnoodle, I'm sorry I forgot to say thank you for the info about surveys. I've sent them an email to see if they are still taking new people - haven't heard back yet.
Sparrer, thanks for the info from you too. The site says you can recommend a friend for 500 points. Is that something you'd like to do? (Not sure if I can post this here!)
Tealady, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who smiles at her cupboards! :rotfl: I'm off to tackle some of one of the under the sink ones now. It could easily be used for storage of bulk bought loo rolls and it's stupid it sitting there in chaos.
See you all later
B x0 -
Woohoo! The house is, as was already known but good to have had it confirmed twice, OK, so we're now full steam ahead for exchange soon
Will be back with more pleasures later!0
