Betcha don't do it!I've been carrying round 4 exam papers for 2 weeks but can't be bothered to do them. HOwever, I marked the 20 assignments i had in a couple of days!
For today - actually it's a little bit carp as our boiler is bust. Needs a new fan which is £300 and boiler would last a couple more years, or a new boiler for £1100 which will save around £250 a year in bills. We are having a new boiler - which isn't arriving till Tuesday if we're lucky.
Anyhooo
1. As it is now February, teetotal January is ended and I've very much enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine!
2. Went to a new lunch place with my regular Friday lunch date - actually only a girlfriend! - was very nice, and we felt a bit posh
3. Yummy turkey leek and cheese pie made from left overs with pastry made in magimix - it really is magic!
4. Enjoyed zumba - but don't tell anyone :rotfl:
5. Dad is continuing to improve - moaning like hell, giving the physios what for, but sounding much brighter and "with it". Also deciding not to go down to see him tomorrow as snow forecast and trains already in chaos due to a derailment this afternoon (and need to sort out boiler).
Keep warm everyone - we will do our best with portable heaters and no hot water!I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

hahaha!! I am the godess of marking procrastination, but these needs to me marked by Monday, so I can't put it off much longer...booooo
Was new lunch place in "town"? Can you let me know where please? Not that I get much of a chance to get into town for lunch as we are that bit far out!! xx0 -
1) Went with Mum to use the free personal shopping service at the local department store and she came back with three outfits!
2) Borrowed a jacket I had given to DD. Well, she left it in the wardrobe when she went to Uni ...
3) Pizza and chips for tea. It's our 'Sabbath' ie do nothing day on Fri/Sat so I shoved pizza in the oven, opened a bag of salad and opened a bottle of wine.
4) Found a friend on the train home and had a good chat.
5) Still have 3/4 of a book left to read this weekend. It's by an author I particularly like (Patrick Rothfuss) and it's all the sweeter because this copy is a hardback which should have been £30 and I got it for £8 second hand.
Have a peaceful weekend, everyone.0 -
Looking forward to catching with posts on here..:j
DH, defrosted my car and heated it up.
Work is still good, thou I am yet to find my voice, I tend to be a little quiet while I find my feet.
Popped to the outlet centre after work and picked up 2 work t shirts for 7.50, but other than that the shops were boring.
Picked up takeaway on the way back for dinner – vast luxury.
Cuddles with gorgeous awake animals who have been asleep each time I get in this week!
Shattered, looking forward to a hot bath, face pack and intensive hair conditioner, and snow of course.
Our PPI money well what can I say it has been a miracle, but can you believe even though we have written proof of our settlement we still have to go to court, geez a bigger waste of time and money there isn’t. Ah well what a system eh! :mad:0 -
Thank you so very much for all your wishes for DGD2 and not saying I was bragging (even if I was, a little bit
), only wish I could say she got her intelligence from her Grandmother but when it came to maths/science I was always 20th in a class of 19!
Broomstick am sending you a pm re the info we both wanted
Mhags sounds like you're really beginning to feel at home now, 'they' do say it takes a year or so. I'm pleased for you, it does sound like a really good place to be, and wonderful for families
villagelife isn't mending rewarding, in more ways than one? Well done on the decluttering, that's tedious!
Kittikins excellent news about the house, very pleased for you
CCP hope the pipes hold out and there won't be any more leaks. Re you #5, hope you enjoyed the fakeaway. I've promised myself chips tomorrow cos I've been so good all week! Except for last Saturday and Sunday
Frith pleased you're feeling so much better
VJsmum sounds like your Dad is definitely improving! You're wise not to risk the journey, I know with parents it's a difficult choice but sensible to stay home
PK pleased you're settling into the job now. Re having to attend court, how utterly stupid and as you said what a wate of resources. No wonder people complain about paying their taxes
1. A very yum smelling, very tomato-y chicken & veg casserole in the sc, can't wait til it's cooked so I can just taste a spoonful
2. nsd/npd
3. Postie brought me a sample of mens moisturiser, and another of mens eau de cologne.
4. A friend visited this afternoon, made a tea loaf and didn't have any myself. I even gave her the rest of the loaf to take home
5. One neighbour came to my door, she thought she heard running water in my garden. Went to check the outside tap but it was the neighbour's on the other side (our taps are opposite each other)which had frozen and broken. Her gentleman friend turned up at that moment and turned it off, he's going to get some proper outside tap insulation tomorrow and do both hers and mine. How kind neighbours are

Chicken, me Chancellor.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: [For one thing, I'm too busy emptying out and repacking cupboards then smiling at the end result
. And I wouldn't know where to begin, the whole country on permanent NSDs would be a disaster I suspect!:D]
On which note, today's pleasures:
1. Another boring old NSD... this time I barely noticed it and I have been out twice today while having to wait for my sons so I took work with me and thermal mugs of coffee again so yet more no-spending.:)
2. I received one of those infamous Graze boxes for free in the post. We ate half of it today and have saved the other half to include in tomorrow's packed lunch. Very nice it was/is too but there is no way I will spend all that money on regular orders so I have cancelled it and am viewing it as a very treatsy freebie.:D
3. We had a potentially excellent brainwave about how to keep the car front and back windscreens ice free for an early start tomorrow. We don't have any large cardboard boxes (too much recycling!) but we have got old camping mats (the closed cell sort) which we have put across the windows with the ends trapped in the front doors and the boot. Will report back tomorrow if it works.
4. Have started to write with an ink pen again. I'd forgotten how lovely real pens are and was amazed that it took me right back to being a little girl again at an age when I felt very good about myself and my creativity so that was a real delight and a very unexpected pleasure.:D:T
5. I found an old (but still functional) hottie in the cupboard under the sink when I was doing that tidy-up earlier. I'd been meaning to buy a new one but this should do just fine. I've washed the old fleece cover and will take it apart to use as a template (and wadding) for a new patchwork cover when I get round to it. That will be a good little project.
Sleep well,
B x0 -
mine is
tok five minutes after my late shift last night to cover the car so it wont be full of frost in 5 mins
It hasnt snowed so dont have to walk to work
and we have no plans tonight so going to cuddle up with my 3 and play a game or something tonight
and my son want to make tea so may even indulge myself and pop my pjs on after work and chill:A :j0 -
VJsmum - what a bu**** about your boiler ! Keep warm and nip down the gym for showers x
Millie- it sucks, I used to get v. anxious about returning to school after holidays as I like being at home. When I was at infants school my Mum walked past when I was in the playground doing PE , I was mortified and tried to climb the 10ft high chain link fence , in my vest and pants :rotfl:I was also caught escaping as I thought I was Hermes (the Interflora man) when I tried to hoof it out of the school gates aged 5 . I cried each day until I got to junior school and I didn't attend an awful lot at Senior SchoolIt feels a bit like that now ! It will pass
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
My five for yesterday are
1. A couple of lovely walks with my dog with the sun shining. Cold but I was wearing lots of layers.
2. Made chicken for tea - using LO chicken.
3. A NSD
4. Making banana cake and giving one to a friend who has just moved and has no cooker at moment.
5. Lovely conversation with DS10 -
Saturday scone,
chat with my niece (and great niece),
loads of washing dry in no time (half an hour!) back to doing uniforms !,
picked up DD2's new specs, had to pay a lot of cash but will be able to claim it all back from health insurance
went to cinema to see George Clooney(ageing well) in the Descendants.
With much trepidation I cut my very wide, very thick, very long curtains in half, managed to put one new pair up and they look okay, just need to hem the raw side now, wanted to see what they looked like first.
It has been a very warm & muggy 37o today & is still 28o at late o'clock, feels like the heating is on far too high! (how I wish I could turn it down a few notches....and would gladly send some of it over!)
Off to bed (clean sheets!) with my kindle...will maybe manage a few pages before nodding off!
DD2 said she likes getting paid but the novelty of working has worn off....haha....so cynical for one so young....lots of years to go love!0
