Motorway driving

  • There's a minimum of 30 on Irish motorways and some other contries apply a minimum. We in the UK tend to only have temporary minimum speed restriction. Saying that, i've known a few careless driving cases because of slow motorway speed in England but they must prove the driving falls well below the standard a resonable person expects and cause a problem for other drivers' vehicles around you.

I bet you're like that idiot I saw overtaking a car waiting to turn right. Car went for it and he got taken clean off his bike. .

you would bet wrong then.... anyone stupid enough to over take a car about to turn right is asking for trouble... bike ride or not.

and for those who feel the need to correct my spelling.... i do try to find the correct spelling in my dictonary but some times i just cant be bothered and guess... sorry

Its like people who stick baby on board stickers on their car? What difference should it actually make

Bit off topic this but i thought the 'baby on board' signs were there to alert emergency services to the possiblilty of a baby car seat being thrown clear of a car in an accident so they know to look for it???

but that would only work if everyone took them down and secured them in thier glove box. nobody does so it renders them useless.
the only person that really needs to know if a baby is on board is the driver of that vehicle, they should adjust thier driving to suit the needs of thier passengers, but most dont and drive as if everyone else should keep out thier way because they have kids on board.
i dont care if you have kids, dogs, brats, show dogs,(insert football team here) No1 fan on board. the only one that interests me is the one that says "hot totty on board" but as ive found through great deals of research this is often a lie aswell with no "hot totty" to be found, so again useless. ;)

  • I've only skimmed this thread so apologies if I have breached the board etiquette.

I often drive late at night and the motorways are much emptier, but not always . I generally stick in the inside lane as I have no one in front of me, If I need to overtake I do so and then move out. Yet I see the cars coming up behind, in most cases they are only going a little faster that me, but they are resolutely stuck in the outside lane. On several occasions I have undertaken cars in the outside lane when I am in the slow lane. The whole motorway is deserted yet they sit there like it will magically get them there faster.

I drive a Ka and don't try and break any records!

  • basically the majority of the general public are selfish

In addition to that your average punter today cannot drive worth a crap. They have absolutely no forward planning and like previously mentioned their heads are so far up their own ar5es all they want to do is push on with no regard to anyone else.

Weren't motorcyclists calling for some sort of stupid law that all car drivers should be to blame in any accident between a car and bike?! Clearly this is not always the case.

No, bikeys. Basically if a bikey was injured by anything with an engine (or shall we say powered), the motorist/biker was to blame. If a pedestrian was hit by a bikey, bikey was at fault automatically.

Basically If I hit a bikey with my car/motorbike/bus/lorry/milk float/van/tram/train/aeroplane/boat/jetski/motorised wheelchair, i'd get sued. Then I'd spend a week or 2 throwing myself infront of bikeys till I got my money back.

  • Lorries should not be only allowed in lane 1, there are loads of large vehicles like cranes etc going less than 50mph and lorries should be aloud to overtake.
