This is what has been quoted from my solicitor.

    WITHOUT PREJUDICE

    "Having not received
a satisfactory response from the administrators of Severn (the main
Loancheck Company) we have written to them to terminate this firm’s
agreement with them and inform them that we will now deal with our
clients directly, without any further reference to Loancheck.

We are very grateful to you for your patience in waiting for the
administrators to agree how we may proceed. The whole “Loancheck”
situation has been completely unsatisfactory, but we can now assure you
that we will press on with your claim in the usual way and confirm that
we do not have to have any further dealings with any of the Loancheck
    Companies.

With that in mind, I shall review your file after this recent short
delay and report to you shortly on the best way to progress your claim.

Once again, thank you for your patience and I should be grateful if you
would either give me a quick call or send me an email to confirm that
you are happy for me to proceed in this way.

I have had no other response from watsons and this is what concerns me. Watsons are clearly sitting on their hands and i'm concerned that if it doesn't get dealt with then we will lose our claims. At the same time we are stuck because of this wretched contract we have with watsons. It's not as if we can continue ourselves as we are under contract to watsons and they would bill us if we broke it. We feel soooo stuck! (feel like tearing my hair out.)

Moo cow, have you tried asking at the Citizens Advice on this or dare I say it, another solicitor. If you are really concerned then what about a complaint to the Law society?

I hear what UTUBE and maxdp are saying here about sitting tight but can certainly understand your concerns and I would be exactly the same as you. You did trust and have sat tight. Maybe now is the time for you to do something. Its up to you but you really need proper advice on what you are contracted to. (if anything after all this time as I would say they have no contract as its not a reasonable amount of time!!).

You need to read through exactly what you signed and who you signed it with and pick up on anything you can if you want to get out of the contract. Surely it says about "reasonable time" and changing the contract (ie passing onto another solicitor etc etc)?

hi, In december I gave watson's formal notice of intention to make complaint to the law society. It was then that they decided to answer me (on reciept of the letter may I add). Andrew Watson had told me that on friday of that week he was having a meeting to discuss the cases and to decide basically which ones had the best chance of success (what a cop out!). He told me he would update me following that meeting. well of course he hasn't. so I have now emailed him and told him that I am making complaint to the law society. I wil, of course follow this through if I don't get a response within the next 48 hours or so. I've had enough. I feel for everyone else too. It's a dreadful situation.

Nothing is quoted about reasonable time. Just do not want Moo Cow to inurr costs. Know it is not fair but seing as it has gone on for so long another couple of weeks until this is sorted may be the best option.

But the whole thing of submitting the agreement was that they could say if you had a case wasn't it from posts on here?? Why would they say this now as they should have done all the ground work years ago?

If you have not heard anything within 2 weeks then you should certainly complain (to the Law Society).

But surely in "law" they would take "reasonable" time into consideration. I would certainly enquire about what constitutes reasonable within business contracts like this.
