Hi,Thanks for asking, she is home with me now,The vet made a big deal of telling me that her bloods havent improved at al so she doesnt really have much chance at all,but she then went on to say smudgy is brighter ,she just doesnt want to give us false hope, anyway I cant beleive how much better she seems, she is eating ,can walk properly again just a little quiet, but is purring and seems so happy to be home.
The final bill was £247 but £10 of this was for her kidney diet food, this has worried me a little because they have said this is 2days food and it includes some free samples,I mentioned this to the vet and she told me to search the internet to find a better price but im really hoping its not going to be anyway near £5 a day,all that aside though im very happy curled up on the sofa with my smudgy so tonight at least me and smudge are one of the happiest people and pets in the world

my candle is burning for you tonight...and no the food shouldn't cost £5 a day. which brand did he sell/ give to you? lots of websites such as https://www.vetuk.co.uk sell the foods much cheaper than the vets supply them at.
come on smudgie you have so many people willing you to pull through! if smudgie could get through this on love and good wishes from complete strangers i am sure she has more than enough to be going a long with!
i really hope things will be ok...but take your vets advice, be realistic, take one day at a time...and enjoy every single moment xxx0 -

there are quite a few sites which can sometimes sell the food cheap. in fact i got an email from Petmeds.co.uk the other day saying they were offering me 15% off all Hills products. just enter the code hills15 at the checkout! offer expires 31st Oct.
you can also do a price search via Google...it will bring up all the different suppliers and their prices. is the stuff?

www.petdrugsonline.co.uk have the dry in 2kg bags for £15.41 and the wet, 24 tins for £24.71
www.chemistdirect.co.uk has 36 sachets for £22.50 (was £27) ... and the 24 tins for £25.40 ... a 5kg dry sack for £32.70
Oooohhh, this sounds better .... www.nutrecare.co.uk have the 2kg bad of dry for £14.99 and the wet (in pouches) 36 for £20.69 ... (they accept payment by cheque as well as cards and paypal) ...
Anyway, just had a little scoot about ... you could probably find some a bit cheaper still, or maybe free delivery which would make it a bit cheaper! Definitely have a look around though ... *S*0 -

I just want to say that i really feel for you.
I went through exactly the same thing with my cat last month, unfortunately he didn't pull through. I was deverstated and it kills me to think about how much he suffered at the end.
I really hope your puss pulls through and if she has been poisoned that Karma gets the culprit.:j0 -
Ok, lets get started guys.
2 challenges for lovely little Smudgy
Challenge 1 - who is selling Hills K/d the cheapest at the moment?
Challenge 2 - Are there any alternatives to Hills K/d which the vet is likely to approve and which may be cheaper?
I'll get us started
Hills: Petmeds have 24 x 156g tins of Hills chicken K/d for £25.43 = about 68p per 100g.
Other: Royal Canin Renal S/o pouches in beef, chicken or tuna varieties are £30.02 for 48 x 100g pouches = about 63p per 100g. That is also with Petmeds
C'mon, someone can beat that, can't they?
Edited to add
Hell I'm so slow! Everyone else has been posting good finds already while I've been dithering about trying to type
Not to mention peeps doing some excellent troll bashing, go get em MrsE and lowis and Yorkie and Snowy and everyone. :TMy first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead
Proud to be a chic shopper

But - anyone know more about this stuff??
