my cats been poisoned

why are there such horrible people in the world,2 years ago my next door neighbour and I both got a kitten, brother and sister, her next door neigbour the other way was really annoyed as he hates cats and told us he was going to shoot or poison them,at the time I just thought he was all talk, then when her kitten was about 8months old it ran away and was found dead, she thought it had been poisoned or killed but I wasnt convinced as she never took it to the vets,I thought anything could have happened to it.
This man never speaks to me ,but yesterday he went out of his way to say hello to me ,all smiles and looking smug,I thought this was strange but didnt think to much about it.
This morning I have got up and my cat had Diarrhea all over the floor, also she could hardly walk and was swaying from side to side,I was sat discussing with my 16yr old daughter what to do when my cat suddenly jumped of the settee and started to have a fit,it was terrible to watch,I really thought she was going to die right there and then,we rushed her to the vets, and he said it looks like she has been poisoned, she is now on a drip and they are doing lots of tests,Im only on benifits but luckily I have enough money saved for christmas to pay for her care(£200) as he said they can not let you pay in instalments anymore as so many people didnt pay they have ruined it for everybody else,so if I hadnt had the money he said he would have to insist on putting her down, even paying this money though he wouldnt tell me what chance she has of pulling through,so im just hoping she will be o.k. I really cant imagine why anybody would want to do this though,

oh poor cat!
I hope she makes it - good luck to her and to you.
Re: the poisoning, I think the difficulty is proving that she has been poisoned intentionally, or who by.0 -
Have you not got a PDSA?
Insurance would have been a good idea, More Th>n do a really good policy for £7 a month.
I congratulate you for being so calm. I probably would have started an all out war if my neighbour did that.
All the best for you and your poor cat

Oh your poor cat.
I'm so sorry. I really hope she pulls through
Very best wishes to both of you xxx0 -
My cat is insured with AXA which generally seems to be considered the best for just £7.50 a month, for that you get up to £7000 of treatment each year. Don't go with a supermarket policy as they are only a quid or two cheaper but you only get up to £7000 over the life of the cat.
Please report these two suspicious incidents to both the police and to the RSPCA.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Yes i was going to second the PDSA advice - they'll treat her for a donation if you are on HB.
I am very sorry to hear that - i can't believe someone could be so mean. I feel like poisoning HIM but obviously that isn't an option! I really don't know what to advise but i really hope she gets better!Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
Poor cat, hope she's ok0

Good advice re PDSA etc.
However do go and tell the police, including the way your neighbour has behaved and what he has said in the past. There have been cases where people have been prosecuted for such cruelty to cats. Yes, your word against his, but you have a sick cat and a known cat hater nearby who threatened to poison him/her and he's got nothing. You also have the vet's professional opinion that your cat has been poisoned. Can he narrow it down to what sort of poison he thinks it could have been. This will be further interesting information, depending on the nature of the poison, ie if it's something that's usually left lying around eg slug pellets, or something that under normal and proper circumstances is kept in its container and is only used indoors, etc etc.
Good luck - don't let this piece of scum get away with this - at the very least let him know that you are onto him and that you will stand up to him. If it was him that is - if he gets a knock on the door from the police it should hopefully take the smug grin off his face. If he didn't do it then he's got nothing to lose.
I hope your wee cat makes a full recovery asap.0 -
sorry to hear about your cat

please get her insured, axa is one of the better policies, and not too expensive. vert care is horrendously expesnive (i just made a claim for £2500 for removal of a tumour!) x0 -
So sorry to hear about your cat
really hope it pulls through.
I'd definately contact the RSPCA and go from there. Just a thought is your cat one to pick up random things and eat them, (mine is, she'll eat anything) as their is properly alot of slug pellets around at the moment. Also anti freeze (depnding upon how cold it has been where you live) as cats tend to love the taste of this. So maybe (as snowyowl suggested try to determine from the vets, what exactly has poisoned him, as this will help your case with the RSPCA.)0
