  • So sorry to hear about your cat, I hope she pulls though and the PDSA help her.

As for the miserable evil old B***** .... I couldnt tell you what I would do!! Which area are you from?

Hi im in the doncaster area ,I find out at 9.ooam if she is going to be o.k.the vet said if she wasnt improving by then,we could transfere her somewere else but that would be very expensive and he didnt think it was worth it anyway,it would just be prolonging her pain,so in the morning ill find out if she will be o.k or put down,
  • oh blooming heck... I mentioned this earlier on another thread today, when someone was asking about cats and cleaning products... apparently antifreeze tastes nice to cats and they tend to lap it up if it is spilt when filling up a car etc... fingers crossed for your cat
  • Antifreeze has a sweet taste that pets will drink. If there is a leaking bottle in someone's shed or garage or a spill, cats will drink it. The antidote is actually alcohol, I had a very drunk cocker spaniel once but the alcohol competes for the same enzymes as the anti-freeze which stops it being metabolised to the actual toxic substance. I think the cocker has a terrible hangover but he survived and did very well. Once the kidneys are affected, you just have to hope and cross your fingers that the damage isn't too severe. If they survive the first week and look OK, cats & dogs with anti-freeze poisoning usually survive OK.

I hope that you got your kitty to the vet in time, and that she recovers. I agree, your beautiful healthy cat should not be going through this.

I'm so sorry to hear this & have everything crossed that she'll pull through. The Vet Joe Inglis's Cat Jill suffered antifreeze poisoning & survived, ok fair enough he is a Vet but I bet he still had to get her to the practice first to do anything to help her & so yours could pull through too. I understand about the neighbour & not knowing if it was him, one of my neighbours was seeing one of the others (Blocks of flats, it gets like Eastenders) & he threatened her cat, then when they split up hers went missing, then she got a new kitten & he did too! Can't help but be suspicious, the oldest had lived her 5yrs so wouldn't maybe get lost or just go missing. It does make me concerned for mine, if anything happened to her i'd be thinking he'd done something too, but like others say, nothing can be proven, they can get antifreeze off the roads/pavements maybe or in sheds etc.
    Hoping she's ok x

just phoned vets, and the receptionist said smudgy(my cat) really picked up in the night and has even eaten something, she said and all the nurses and herself have been given her plenty of cuddles,I dont know if this means she is of the drip or not I didnt think to ask on the phone,I asked her if this means she is going to live but she said she cant tell me that ill have to wait to talk to the vet,but she seems alot better and happier,so im alot more hopefull than ive been all night

Gorgeous baby, she looks a little bit like our cat Timmy. I read through all the comments last night and felt so upset for you, I'm glad she has picked up through the night and I hope everything is ok
