I read your post whilst I was at work this morning and just wanted to say what a beautiful cat Smudgie is. She"s absolutely gorgeous. I hope she pulls through, and like several other posters I can"t say what I think of the person who must have poisoned her. I just hope that he gets caught before he can do something like this again. Am thinking of you both.
loobylou2.Proud to be dealing with my debts and aiming to sort out the mess in 2013!!!!

Best wishes for Smudgie's recovery. Awful story. Please report this to the police; in my humble opinion it is most unlikely that Smudgie's poisoning is the result of an accident.
  • I'm so sorry to hear about your poor cat.

    How is she doing today?

I worry constantly about anything happening to our two...really hope she makes a good recovery.

The poor little thing. I hope she will be OK, what an awful thing to happen.
  • Our big black cat, Dave, was doused in petrol when he was a kitten.

It was years before I'd met my OH, and he has no proof to this day that it was deliberate, but he had his suspicions.

The poor little thing nearly died..he was on a drip for days and all his fur fell out. The vet had to clean him with swarfega.

My OH had to feed him through a pipette for ages afterwars, and he was given a 50/50 chance of survival.

I'm pleased to say 8-odd years on he's a much loved, beautiful, glossy boy :T

I don't think I could have coped with seeing him as he was.

OP cats are tougher than you think...fingers crossed for yours xx

OMG how awful!! Of course that was deliberate, as if a kitten would go for a swim in petrol. He was very very lucky not to have been set alight, as some evil sh*t did to a cat near here. I hate letting my cat out, the biggest danger to cats is other people, whether they are driving too fast or not observing the road, being careless or thoughtless with poison, or simply being deliberately cruel. I try not to think about it too much or I'll work myself into a right lather.

OP you have the wonders of modern veterinary medicine to help Smudgey too - they can do so much these days. And if healing karma vibes exist, then Smudgey is certainly getting lots of those from us here.

You get some right nasty people out there.

My Grandads cat was beaten up so badly he had to have his tail amputed as it was broken in so many places, they had kicked his face in and everything, he managed to get himself home and they originally thought road accident, but the vet checked his claws and there was no damage to them at all, and they automatically take those out I believe.

Really hope it was just an accident and no-one did it delibrately, smudgey is so cute, my DD said she wants to stroke his cute nose.

Have you not got a PDSA?

Insurance would have been a good idea, More Th>n do a really good policy for £7 a month.

I congratulate you for being so calm. I probably would have started an all out war if my neighbour did that.

All the best for you and your poor cat :(

The quote above provides cover for as long as your pet needs treatment.

I just got a quote with them, as I'm toying with getting insurance for mine.
