Anyone dreading the clocks going back

  • I never used to dread it but I am this year, I get little enough sleep as it is without my 8 month old getting up an hour early. He slept really well from about 3/4 months old, through to 7am, then around 6 months when we started weaning it all went wrong (getting up any time from 5am to 7am). We're just settling back down to mostly 7am wake ups and it will all go wrong on Sunday :(

They never mention this when you decide to have a baby!!
  • I am working on Saturday night so will have to change all of the clocks in work, and then wonder if everyone will arrive for their shift on time the next morning, after i have worked for 12 hours. I seriously will not be impressed.

I'm confused - when people mention getting up earlier why is it such a problem? You've all had the same amount of sleep as normal.

    Only for one day! :)

You're right of course, I'm just not looking forward to it for the rest of the week!

Adjust your childs/medication/routine by 15 mins on Friday through to Monday and you'll be ok.

On the actual day of the clocks going back you get less so that is a problem - I don't get enough sleep anyway :(. And it is a pain trying to adjust a routine for several days beforehand just for something as pointless as a clock change.

I think I'll just try keeping them up a bit later the night before, as trying the above last year just didn't work.

    Bah!

I love the early dark nights so it doesn't bother me one bit.

The baby is 5 months old and doesn't wake till between 8 and 9am, so if it's between 7 and 8, it will still be fine.

I'm looking forward to the clocks going back because I'm getting married on Sunday :j:j:j
    Updating soon...
  • My husband suffers from SAD so hates the winter when it gets dark at 4 pm.

Luckily we have a house in Spain and are going there for the winter next Wednesday :) Plenty of sun and more daylight hours.

    Congratulations!!!:T:T

I don't mind, because it means i get an extra hour to 'faff' before going to work:rotfl: (still up early cos the kids won't let me have a lie in ) Hadn't even thought about the effect on animals-we have a 10 month old puppy, and just the past couple of weeks he's started barking at about 6.30ish cos he thinks we should be getting up to him-he will seriousy be in the dog house if he thinks he's gonna start barking at 5.30:rotfl: and i am another winter lover, and like it when it's all dark and cold outside (as long as i am nice and warm inside!!) the only downside is that i work evenings and it can be very miserable going to work in the dark!
