Ive edited the first post as the offer that me and wizk1 have signed up to is now on HUKD and theres always a chance it will get pulled, so to summarise

    200 mins
    unlimited text
    unlimited broadband
    free HTC hero / t-mobile g2 touch
    18 months
    £22 p/m

others have been reporting a variation of this being more mins/less texts etc

I called the t-mobile sales team and have been offered the below:

    G2 Touch
    800 minutes
    U/L sms
    U/L data
2GB SDHC (think it comes with this anyway)
    4 months free insurance
    18 months

    £25p/m inc' VAT.

Sure people are getting better but I am very pleased with this. Will always take insurance where I can as I am useless with phones. Got through 3 in the previous year.

just checked the "About Phone" section of my Hero and the "Build number" is the same as the ROM update number on the HTC website i.e. ROM version 2.73.405.5.

I take it this means the person I bought the phone from of e-bay has kindly updated it before I bought it?
  • my build number is 1.76.110.6 and software version 1.0.0a6288, tmoile website shows an update for oct 09 which ive yet to try

Cheers ... I have the same software version but looks like I may have the latest ROM version I can have then ... just wish they would call the build & ROM by the same name lol.

Really pleased so far with the responsiveness with no sign of lag, just checking in case I was missing out on anything!

For the record I have a white version which I believe the seller won in a comp and it has no branding or network bloating anywhere so looks like I have a proper sim-free unlocked model.

Might be of use to some peeps but the HTC website lists spare battery covers available in black or white ... they have probably realised they are a bit flimsy and liable to be the first thing to break. Not much use for the brown, graphite or pink owners but may be usefull to know of for the future.

Ok, just got through to someone who was quite helpful.
    He has offered me:-

    Free T-Mobile G2
    800 mins
    Unlimited Texts
    Unlimited Internet

    for £25 a month.

He was also talking about the 10% discount people have been getting on top (i.e.. £22.50), reducing the internet package you would receive. I am assuming this isn't true but just thought I would check with people to clarify that they were still getting unlimited internet

I think I know what they have done here. The G2s normal package comes with 3GIG of data usage. This costs a extra £5.00 pm on to your price plan. The basic data plan is just 1 GIG. It would seem that they have just cut down the amount of data you can use to just 1 GIG therefore cutting costs. You are saving money but its not such a good deal.
