I am a gas permaeable contact lens wearer and have been for the last 40 years with no probs. However I have to have a ptosis problem corrected which means I shall be unable to wear contact lenses for a week.
I have arranged to have an eye test at Asda next Wednesday and my question is, do I have to remove my contact lens before my eye test or can I go along wearing it and remove it before I have the test.
The last time I was tested for glasses was at Specsavers and I didn't need to remove the contact lens first.
Thanks in advance.
Incidentally ptosis can be caused by long term contact lens wearing - I had no idea until I saw the specialist.
Involutional ptosis is most common in older people and those who have had surgery on their eye (affecting six in 100 people after they have had a cataract operation) as well as those who have had an eye injury, and long-term contact lenses users.0 -

I also wear gas permaeable , and have always been advised to take the lenses out the night before0 -
I have also been wearing gas permeable for 40 years with no problem and I was told by Asda 2 years ago that I needed to leave them out for 3 days before a test for specs because the contact lenses changed the shape of the eye.0

Had the eye test yesterday in the Eastleigh store, followed by expert advice by one of the team as to choice of frame etc. My husband accompanied me and the temptation of their classy rimless glasses was too much for him to resist.
He had never had much satisfaction from Specsavers re choice of frame for his high bridged nose and for the first time the girl was able to point him in the direction of these excellent glasses.
So I am delighted with the excellent service and more so with the price - 4 pairs of prescription glasses, one with tint for a total of £180.
They were also most helpful in contacting Specsavers who had my OH's prescription details and asked them to fax them through instantly so that the entire order could be completed there and then.
Can't wait to pick them up.0 -
Hubby bought 2 pairs of designer glasses from Corby Asda last Sat for £90...he has a v high prescription so he wanted the thinnest lenses. Well the price included the thinnest lenses in glass...he was really chuffed as Specsavers quoted him £300+ for the same glasses. The staff were brilliant and v helpful.0
