OH was not happy with the glasses he bought, varifocals, which have a really small area for reading (which is what he needed them for most), also not great quality overall. Compared to what he normally get elsewhere not worth the money, so think twice if you are after buying glasses and look around before deciding.
Has he been back to store? did he make it clear to the dispenser that he would be using them mostly for reading?

Just to say, we went back today with both pairs for repair. Excellent service, we were seen to immediately, and both pairs were fixed with no quibbles or discussion.

When I was in yesterday they were offering a pair of prescription reading glasses with designer frames for £20 if you bought their varifocals. I thought that this is a lot more useful than a spare pair of the same specs if you know that you will have a lot of reading to do.

i was told you get 30 days to try varifocals, so if not happy should go back, they will change them to just disatnce or reading and refund the difference.

Well I bought 2 pairs of rimless glasses from Asda last weekend - Hartlepool Store

Choice was very good, service excellent and price great. They quoted 10 working days delivery and had a phone call after 4 days saying they were in.

Phoned today to check opening hours and called in tonight to collect them. There fitting was terrible - I might have been comparing them to a proper opticians but the first assistant would have been clumsy on a till never mind with new glasses. He eventually gave up and passed them to a another who managed to adjust the arm bends whilst standing on a step ladder dusting the display! Between them they got the first pair to an acceptable fit and then butchered the second pair, with further help from another assistant, until the arms were wrecked. They had obviously had little training or experience and were blaming everything from the frames, my ears and the time of the day! In the end I gave up, got my money back and walked out. If I hadn't done a 30 mile round trip drive on each visit I may have given them another chance but I was just fed up.

They may be a good deal but I had a terrible experience in the fitting, enough that I wished I'd done them myself. I hope you do better but watch out for non-trained fitting staff when you collect them.

Still got to say, cracking deal on the actual glasses.

When I went back to have my glasses fitted they got the optician to do it for me. She was excellent. The girls said they weren't trained to fit and might break the side pieces
