I would just like to say how thankful I am of my local optician at ASDA when I had a routine eye appointment in December.
The optician said he could see 'scarring' on the back of my left eye and gave me a letter to pass on to my doctor. I then received an appointment as an outpatient at the eye clinic who, after looking into my eyes, kept me in hospital due to my extremely high blood pressure! They could see pressure on the back of my eye and needed to find out what it was. I had a CT scan to check for brain tumour or water on the brain - which came through clear (phew!)
Last Thursday I went for an ultrasound scan of my kidneys and ovaries to discover I have 2 cysts on my left ovary! I'm now waiting for an appointment for the gynecologist.
All this from a routine eye appointment... and I have almost 20/20 vision! If you see anywhere doing free eye tests, please go, even if you don't have problems with your eyes!!! It's even worth paying for them if it protects your health.DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

Had to bump this as such an amazing deal....
I broke a lens in my glasses and due to my prescription (-14.5 with high astigmatism) it was £192 just to replace 1 lens - and a couple of opticians gave the same price.
Asda unbelievably are doing me 2 pairs with 1.9 high index glass lenses for 76.30 (£90- 13.60 NHS complex voucher)
I actually wouldn't believe the man and made him show me the print out of the order. That makes it around £800 of glasses for £76.30 !!!!!!!There are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0 -

No - your regular optician pays a lot more for the products!Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

My prescription sounds similar to yours (only ever known 2 people with eyesight as bad as mine and one is my brother so I am quite amazed that there are so many of us on this thread!) and I was delighted with my Asda specs - with the frames these would normally cost me £500 each on the high street. The 1.9 glass has given me the best vision I've ever had, and they look like normal glasses not bottle tops!0
