Speeding offence through post requesting who was driving

Hi received a request through the post for an alleged speeding offence
Sent to my wife registered owner of the car
Requesting we indicate who was driving the car at the time
40 MPH in a 30MPH
We both remember the journey well and the stretch of road the offence was on is only short
We cannot remember seeing any cameras or police on that little stretch when we drove down it
So they must of been hiding somewhere
Which really p***es me off
If your going to do someone at least have the balls to actually stop them not just send it through the post.
What i would like to know is can we use this situation to our advantage to getting out of the fine / points and what is our next move
Any help appreciated

What situation do you wish to use? Who was driving?

Given that you clearly didn't notice the speed limit signs or the speedometer of your own car I wouldn't be so sure that you weren't caught by someone in clear view, probably wearing head-to-toe dayglo yellow

speeding fines have been coming through the post for years. Maybe you and the missus should wake up, smell the coffee and start using your eyes while you're out on the roads ;)

No one is going to advise you how to go about perverting the course of justice.

OP do you have any justification for not paying up or providing the information required? Is the ticket incorrect? Then not much you can do.

Many of us on here realise it is just a money making scheme nowdays but until the revolution there is not much that can be done. Unless you live in Scotland, but that requires hiding from the rozzers for 6 months if they come looking for you...;)
  • I find it interesting when people moan about getting a ticket and not being physically stopped by a cop. When they are stopped by a cop, you usually get the 'why are you not out catching real criminals etc etc'

You were speeding and didnt notice the camera, time to pay up!

We both remember the journey well and the stretch of road the offence was on is only short So you will recall if you were speeding or not perhaps?
We cannot remember seeing any cameras or police on that little stretch when we drove down it Not really important is it?
So they must of been hiding somewhere Gosh
Which really p***es me off Why?
If your going to do someone at least have the balls to actually stop them not just send it through the post. Yes indeed lets waste a bit more police time.

Not sure what situation you wish to "use" but if you believe you were not speeding, or that there was some contravention in the way you were "caught" then you can challenge the fine. There are others more knowledgeable, perhaps on another forum, who can give advice as to the best course of action.

What was the date of the offence?
What is the date on the NIP?
What date did you receive the NIP?
Was the letter sent by first-class post?

Before you think about challenging the actual speeding issue you must identify the driver within the time specified (28 days I think)

Failure to do so will result in a summons, 6 points & a large fine.

Just as well a child hadn't run out in front of your car, you may well not have seen it..

No point in blaming others for your own failings.
