Most of car's value went down because of all the scrathes and dents on the bodywork, there are plenty of those, which is no problem to me, as long as car functions properly. I thought THAT was the reason for low price. Wrong i guess...

Once you knew that, you should have walked away, if a car has been trashed on the outside, it's an almost certain that nobody has cared for the rest of it.

You can never make a bad car in to a good car.

    Buy a good car.
  • I have a 2.2 TD Tino (02 plate) had it from 4 months old. How can you possibly compare a tino and a peugeot 306 as similar in size and therefore performance? The Tino is far larger and heavier!

I would be gutted if my Tino was only worth £900 - consider it that you have a bargain. The minor ailments that you have described are minor - what on earth do you expect for £900?????

2.2 TD Tino was rated by Which and Sunday Times (in 2002) as one of the best, most reliable cars you could get - hence why we bought ours.

We have had 7 years of virtually trouble free motoring with ours and have bought a Nissan as our second car as well now. However, we are currently experiencing 'power' problems with the Tino, in that, the acceleration is reduced - it is going to the garage to have this sorted next week. You need to accept that as a car ages, it may experience problems.

I used to have a Peugeot 205 and yes, it would out accelerate my Tino but it was a smaller car with a smaller engine - less weight etc therefore one would naturally expect that, however, my Tino would sit at a faster speed more comfortably and would reach a higher speed too than my little 205.

205 is MUCH smaller than 306, no comparison there. Tino is ~200mm longer, 80mm wider, 30mm shorter wheelbase, ~300mm higher and 300kg heavier than 306. So, apart from being slightly weightier and being higher it is pretty much the same size as 306.
The height was deciding factor. Child seats and all that, but keeping the same length and width of the car.

    306 - tino
    70bhp - 114bhp
    125nm(94lb-ft)- 235nm(173lb-ft)

Tino is supposed to wipe floors with 306, but in real life it doesnt (mine at least). Tino ran 94k before me.
306 was at 88100 when i bought it. Now well over 150k...

  • I just googled "Nissan Tino review", clicked on a random result (channel 4 cars or something) and the reviewer talked about the engine being gutless.

Probably worth doing a bit of research next time you buy a car.
