Partner got no common sense

  • My first husband only lasted a few days or weeks in each job, i had several p45's with x week/month1 on them on the mantle, each time it was silly impulsive things. he was like this in life he would do things with out thinking. His kids were diagnosed adhd, and then bipolar, any thoughts?

I was wondering about Aspergers? The way the OP repeatedly mention her partner's inability to follow rules, also that he seems to lack common sense and understanding of consequences, but is basically a nice helpful guy, could mean that he has a condition of some kind.

    Completely agree..
3hrs drive for babysitting?????? In the last minute????

The other problem is that people are not always giving back what they take if you are like this - and missuse you..

I wouldn't even dream about calling my brother for babysitting as he lives in Scotland! That is a sign that his family knew he will do it, otherwise it wouldn't even cross their mind to call him...

This is always what happens e few years ago he used to drive right out of his way to take somebody to work until they could afford a car.Guess what when he hurt his ankle and couldnt drive to work they wouldnt do the same for him.

Whatever you do, don't send him off to market one day to sell the cow - he might just return with a bunch of magic beans instead of the cash.

He was told they will ring him to let him know... hopefully he did well... I found out that he does quite well with 2 part time jobs instead of 1 full time... it is weird.
HE works with his brother 1 day a week and trying to find another job.
I work 2 days and do well as a stay at home mum at the moment but trying to open my own business teaching Spanish...

    Hi,
I agree with Amber Sunshine. This does sound like a mild form of Aspergers syndrome. Google it and I think you'll find that your partner has a lot of the signs. I worked with a guy who was exactly like your partner - really nice, friendly bloke who was like a big puppy, so eager to please - but completely useless at doing what was required of him. He was really clever - but no common sense. He was let go after his probation period because he just couldn't do the work. I work in medical research and people like that are just viewed as 'eccentric' and never get the help they need unfortunately.
The good news is there are things that can be done for it. Would he be open to the idea that he may have a condition and go see his GP?
Having been in the prison service, maybe he could get a job in security somewhere?
    Good luck!
    June x
